Today’s Oracle takes us to the Cancer monthly of April 1, 2005.
This may be the most socially active or outgoing time in your child’s life. Take the opportunity to help them get established in the world of people outside the family, and to form bonds that have nothing to do with you. Experiencing the value and pleasure of helping others is another project that will provide some excellent long-term results and teach them just how much they have. Kids who come from comfortable families are often well aware that many others don’t have their basic needs met, and that this is somehow unfair. It’s a great thing to learn how much you have to give.

Wow… this was *great* timing. The original was published when my son was 10 years old and we were having the best year yet. I had worked with his 5th grade class to produce a play from the Velveteen Rabbit, and when the 6th grade teacher bollixed it up (that is, rewrote it more ‘tastefully’), the Manchild *confronted* them and demanded that the script be returned to the original. Then he led a boycott of the 5th grade actors to back it up.
We were introduced to monoatomic gold that year, and he began to remember what he came in with; then I took him to France, where he hung out in the house of Pir Vilayat Khan on what was reputed to be the property of Joseph of Arimathea, drank his first watered-wine in front of the Palais de Pape in Avignon, and saw Jeanne d’Arc’s heart (well, he called it the Salmon of Doubt) floating down the Seine.
All just before his 11th birthday. God. No wonder he’s mad at me.
