Squirrel (probably an eastern gray squirrel, or sciurus carolinensis) who frequents my back porch (eating the food I leave for my phantom cat) takes a break in the warm winter sunlight. Photo by Eric Francis. Dedicated to the "other Eric Francis" (one of our staff writers) of Little Rock, Arkasas.
The colors are beautiful. A few little tufts of orange and some grey. Sounds like a pretty cool decorating scheme.
I think we might be crushing on squirrels?
I love squirrels. I’m a pushover if you’re a critter, but I just see squirrels as these incredibly exotic but overlooked kids. Notably, I don’t have bird feeders; if you have bird feeders, you’re unlikely to be so affectionate to them. Still, look at those colors.
Funny, I took pics of my three squirrels that I feed on a pretty regular basis today against the backdrop of a rather scary looking sky here in So. Cal. Ritz crackers were the Food Du Jour.
Those moments are moments I wish I still lived in nature rather than Concrete, Freeway City, Hell-A.
