Here is an extra podcast on World Aids Day
Today’s podcast is ready. In this edition, cover the chart of Sunday’s Sagittarius New Moon, covering the many conjunctions that are happening right now — a story I’ve been developing for a while.
These include the New Moon itself (on Sunday), which is the climax of that Sagittarius alignment I’ve been describing for weeks — the one about geopolitics; that’s a conjunction of Moon, Sun and Pholus on the Great Attractor. There are other planets in the background which I’ve mentioned before and don’t get into today (Ixion, Hylonome) that only tell the story better. I move onto describe the Mercury-Pluto conjunction on the North Node; the Chiron-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius; and the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Pisces. I’ve covered all of these before, but never quite as one chart, which we have going on now.
I then talk about the natal chart of Julian Assange, editor in chief of WikiLeaks. Speaking of conjunctions, I focus mostly on his Chiron conjunction to Eris, a big one that colored the late 1960s and early 1970s and really acted as a threshold in consciousness. This is a “me generation” conjunction and it’s also connected with the self-actualization process that was very much alive at the time, whether through feminism, the early New Age movement, and various self-help and therapy movements.
Then you get an actual rant about the power of the truth and — the UFO coverup. Yes, I finally cut loose on space aliens today.

I can’t believe I lived on Vashon for 15 years and never heard about the Maury Island event. Thank you for mentioning this. I’ve been looking into it, and it’s all very fascinating. Out of everywhere I’ve lived and traveled, one of the most incredible things I ever saw was one night in the center of the island. It was so close to my house, and stayed for so long, that the obviousness of it made me giggle. I wasn’t afraid, really, but it was definitely a strange night.
um, how long does it take eris to move cause she is square my ascendant at 21 degrees….
The 2012 aspect — Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn.
What a great podcast. I loved your inner Glenn Beck moment, Eric — it had me in stitches! I’m imagining a day when Assange and yourself sit down and have a chat/interview. That would be something. Two PoMo men, with heaps of mandatory integrity, discussing it like it *really* is.
BTW Has anyone read the trilogy by Stieg Larsson? The first book is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo? It’s a brilliant read. Assange makes me think of the heroine, Lisbeth; a hacker with a ruthless drive to confront various types of institutional abuses in her life. Ironically it’s set in Sweden, the country out to arrest Assange. She became my new personal idol/role model during the past summer, along with the author, Larsson. Sadly he is no longer with us as he died shortly after submitting his manuscripts.
Curious to hear if others have read the books.
hey Eric what is that “2012 aspect” you mentioned in the podcast?
You said to be aware of planets in our natal charts that are around 8, 9, 10 degrees of a cardinal sign.
What is the aspect going on at that degree of cardinal signs….? Sorry I missed that point.
I have this stellium at about that point in Libra, so I’m curious 😉 thx
Thanks for that Amanda! funny: “Even if he’s the only one who knows where the spare USB cables are.”
Excellent podcast/rant on the Philosophy/Psychology of Lies

Julian Assange Fired From IT Job At Pentagon
December 1, 2010 | ISSUE 46•48
ARLINGTON, VA—With officials describing his publication of sensitive U.S. State Department documents as “the last straw,” Wikileaks founder Julian Assange was asked to resign from his position as the Pentagon’s IT coordinator Monday. “We gave him his first warning after the whole Iraq and Afghanistan war diaries thing, and strike two was when he forwarded that video montage of Nicolas Cage yelling to the entire staff,” Defense Department human resources director Curtis Shannon said. “But we just can’t overlook this latest offense. Even if he’s the only one who knows where the spare USB cables are.” At press time, Assange had already been invited to interview for an IT position at the Central Intelligence Agency.
Wow Carrie! Certainly can tell you’re a good student! I just hope Assange manages to stay a step ahead of the forces of darkness and that if he doesn’t he’s got an ace in the hole. Praying for that man.
Key words/concepts for these:
Pholus = small cause and a big effect, generational issues that affect people, chance encounters, seemingly small decisions or passive inquiries that result in changes far greater than you would expect, Pholus in the natal chart is indicative of issues relating to both Saturn and Neptune, i.e. feelings, emotions, sacrifice, dreams, chaos, all Neptunian stuff and the Saturnine influence of order, duty, restriction and control. In aspect to a natal planet Pholus could indicate something we’re not yet fully aware of, something that is waiting to manifest. Perhaps something from our past is restraining us, is keeping it under control. It may become a pressing issue that we blindly and impulsively act upon only to find it has disastrous results. On the other hand, it may lead us to achieve great things. Pholus also has a mediumistic quality, a connection to ‘the other world’ and the ability to get in touch with it.
First House: outward character traits, how other people see you, the first impression you make, your personal physical body and body space. In escoteric it is the future karmic life you will come into after death.
Ceres: shows the early nurturing we received and how we nurture others. It also directly rules food and clothing, separation of loved ones with reconciliation with distance.
Pholus in 1st house = people will see you as someone who does small things that have a big effect? This is not at all the case for the person I have in mind.
Or generational issues within your family will affect how you show yourself to others? That fits better.
So the Ceres in person 1 is nurturing the Pholus in person 2 in their first house. WTF is the Ceres nurturing…. ” feelings, emotions, sacrifice, dreams, chaos, all Neptunian stuff and the Saturnine influence of order, duty, restriction and control?” In aspect to a natal planet Pholus could indicate something we’re not yet fully aware of, something that is waiting to manifest. Perhaps something from our past is restraining us, is keeping it under control. It may become a pressing issue that we blindly and impulsively act upon only to find it has disastrous results…” So person 1 is nurturing that in person 2?
This is not easy for me to understand, sorry.
As for the Great Attractor from your own page quoting Phil S. : “People born with the Sun, Moon, ascendant or another important planet close to, or aspecting, this point will often find that they have a polarizing effect on people around them, making unusually close friends and intense enemies as well. They can give the impression that they hold the key to the mystery of the universe, correctly or not.
‘The perception is that people on the Great Attractor have unusual appeal or potency. They find themselves in vast circles, accidentally. Or they have impacted masses of people and think they have created no influence in their lives whatsoever,’ he said.” [My note: He didn’t mention the IC in that list so where does it fall in importance , if at all?] Also, a sense of polarization.
IC: This is the area of our deepest concern for security and shelter. This is concerned with home, traditions, stability, and nurturing. This is where you seek comfort and protection. Your activities here will be private and concealed. When many planets are near the Imum Coeli , accomplishments may not get the notoriety they deserve. Deepest subconscious part of a person.
So, GA on IC = polarization, appeal, attraction coupled with the deepest subconscious part of a person and their concern for security and shelter? I can’t make a lot of sense out of that either; again sorry.
11th house: friends and groups, affiliations, clubs, unusual life choices, an experimentive, excitement seeking life focus….social affairs and the course they take, rebelliousness and innovation with a desire to advance society by blending all sorts of ideals that generally are very tenuously applicable or basically flawed….
12th house: churches, schools, hospitals, prisons, hidden enemies, how we undermine ourselves, dreams, repressed emotional baggage, the government (especially as a big entity that has hidden stuff), addictions or ways we use to escape things.
Venus: love, relatedness, values, social urges, art, beauty, creation, attraction, luck, personal magnetism, money, nurturing mother love, sensuality, bonding energy, harmony and merging. In the physical body it rules the kidneys, urinary tract, the venous blood and system, the throat, the larynx, and general physical attractiveness and magnetism, the force of attraction in the universe, bringing things together to form a more perfect, complete and stable whole than that which previously existed in parts. In human beings this attractive force manifests as love: for others and for beauty. Through Venus we relate to others, appreciate the aesthetic principles of balance, harmony, color and sound, and learn to cooperate.
So GA next to Venus = polarizing attraction in one’s love life and values?
GA in 11th house = polarizing attraction in social groups and friends, they either love or hate you?
I know these are not that simplistic but I am stuck and not doing so well in figuring out how to interpret these.
:::phew::: This is difficult brain-wrapping for me. See? I said I was not good at this. :::sheepish grin:::
All definitions/keywords taken from various astrology sites on the web (and from my very limited memory).
Carrie — may I propose an adjustment to language and concept — if you take the word “means” out of your search for meaning, you will get closer to your information.
How might someone interpret these aspects? How do they show up in your life? Look for evidence. Give us something. You know the concepts of the houses you describe. I’ve given you a concept of the Great Attractor. Put the two together…and have a throw.
Excellent podcast, as always.
Great Attractor…what does it mean when it is within 2 degrees (in the 4th House) of the natal IC? Or when it sits in the 11th House, four degrees away from Venus in the 12th House?
Oh and anyone know what it means when one person’s natal Ceres sits on another person’s natal Pholus in the other person’s first House? I have googled these and cannot find answers no matter how hard I look. Any answers would be very appreciated; thanks in advance.
Sabian for 14 Aries: “a serpent coiling near a man and a woman.” His Eris~Chiron is also trine the Great Attractor. I think this guy is working for the spirit of evolution. Maybe he’s the alien 😉
Thanks. Now that I’m almost done with school. I’ll have some free time to do a little more reading.
astrodem:
Great read from the link. The key is the last graph of the story:
I will dig up that list, man, it’s from the 90s. There is another Top 25 Books that I posted on Cainer…I will have a look…
Yes I was just thinking about Julian — and despite whatever, this is success.
I’ve been looking for your list of recommended reading on astrology, tarot, esoterica, etc. I’m almost positive you’ve done an email or a blog post on this before, but I can’t seem to find it. I would like to suggest that you post a permanent link to this somewhere in the right hand column of the blog. Thanks!
On an unrelated note, here’s a really cool piece on Julian Assange’s philosophy. Whatever else you might say about him and about Wikileaks, the news of the last 48 hours makes it quite clear that Assange is accomplishing his goal.
