The Obelisk on Killiney Hill, Ireland by Sean Hayes

Shot with my Canon G7. Colour enhancement with iPhoto. I've seen the Obelisk on Killiney Hill a million times. Man and boy. Today I saw it differently. It looked as crisp and clean as the Artic wind blowing relentless across the bows of my camera lens. The man on the bike was fortuitous.I don't think the shot would have worked as well without him. 1. Thanks for your kind comments. And thanks to Eric and Rachel for showcasing my work.
It came as a surprise. I was just happy enough to be a contributor to an important site.
To answer Kristens’ and Shannas’ comments in one fell swoop. In trying to create that “platinum plate” look, I played heavily with the levels on the edit feature on iPhoto.
I love creating an other-worldly feel with simple compositions.

  2. Lovely – looks like the platinum plate technology; similar look and feel to 80’s southwest photos I once viewed.

May the day be beautiful, calm and full of giggly smiles for all!

  3. ah, just visited the link and answered my own question.

I love the feeling of late afternoon child’s play in this — a giant’s building blocks and a Lilliputian figure beside it. The little bugger’s gone to his nap and left his game out on the carpet. 🙂

  4. That’s incredible, Sean. Lovely. Did you use a filter or was the light really like that?

Don’t know if you’ll read this, but if you do I’d love to know.
