New Audio Ready: Miner Rescue Chart

Chart for the first miner coming into the surface.

Today’s podcast looks at the chart for the rescue of the Chilean miners. The chart is posted here — notice that very late degree Sagittarius Moon, the end of a long story of international cooperation.

The chart is an Aries Point critter, with early Cancer rising (a square to the Aries Point), along with Pluto, Ceres and the Moon are setting in the west, all with some precision.

In Aries per se, we have Eris on the midheaven. It’s like the supposed Goddess of Discord is standing guard over the whole scenario, making sure that everything stays in order.

Last, I go over the changes of sign of the four major asteroids: Pallas into Sagittarius, Vesta into Scorpio, Ceres into Capricorn and Juno into Virgo.

On that note I will leave you to your podcast — good morning, catch you later with another fabulous day at Daily Astrology & Adventure.

Yours & truly,
Eric Francis

  1. be: yes yes yes!! Lemme know – I’m thinking too that the third shot was of the measuring device but couldn’t say for sure.

I know that what sent me to the tv was knowledge that they were mostly up AND reazling there was a vid-cam inside the mine(that I discovered on a bbc internet blog.)

I was only sorry that media did not follow through on the bringing up of the rescue crew and the last man OUT. Certainly they deserved celebration too. I am sure it happened, we just did not “particpapte” remotely.

Another of our local latino stations was covering from a Chilean restaurant somewhere in LA where they were playing the broadcast on large screen television. Less interesting for me since I could not understand what the patrons where saying – and the real event was the vid-feed itself. But I enjoy THAT kind of “news” reporting, fer sure.

Real people. Real time. Good News Event.

  2. aword, yeah. . me too. Yeah, the blessed absence of local idiots speaking over translators. . . good grief. Yeah, the incredible number of cameras! Did you see the part when the director (?) was switching – almost rapidly – between the 3 cameras as the last miner, coming up? The wife, the shaft, can’t remember the 3rd. . .the prez maybe? That was beautiful real-time control room direction. I taped it and will check to see. . I was going on almost pure adrenalin and no sleep myself by then. And yeah, yeah! The little measuring device. . . that was just too fantastic. . .maybe that was the 3rd shot.

I swear, I could not believe that the networks. . .mainstream and cable, abandoned them after all day coverage on some of them. I bet they got a lot of angry viewer calls after that dumbass decision. I don’t have Telemundo here but am so grateful (NEVER thought I’d say this) that Fox went back to Chile, as they had promised, for the grand finale. I might have stroked out if they had not!!!!!

  3. be,

I speak about one word of Spanish, but I wanted to watch the most authentic transmission of the events that I could find.

I didn’t think to turn to Fox, having flipped channels often enough to see no one was following through moment by moment – even though it was a tremendous opportunity to do so – camera in the mine, camera on top of the device that carried them up, cameras, well everywhere! Amazing coverage.

I was disgusted at our local Ch 7 — I did flip channels during the big speech after the supervising miner was up – figuring that all the major stations would at least show that. Wrong! And I wanted to understand some of what was said (until then the chanting, singing, hugging, faces etc said it all) — BUT the Ch 7 commentator was too busy with his own ego and speaking OVER the woman who was translating…..and what the guy was saying was stuff like “I can’t understand what they’re saying” and “I don’t know -? is that their national anthem-?”. Moron.

I was very impressed with Telemundo – there may have been other LA Latino stations with coverage, but theirs was virtually uninterrupted and real-time. Really nice to experience the media allowing me to share the event like that. Watching the make-shift notched measuring device they were using to see how close to the surface the cell was, watching the cell rise, watching from inside the mind while they loaded each miner — Couldn’t have been more real and real-time but to be there.

Which in the case of this event, felt like experiencing a miracle. Such pride. Such love. Really.

  4. aword. .

Would you believe Fox News Network actually carried the final miner rescued and all the hoopla that followed, and that they actually cut into O’Rielly’s (sp?) program to carry it? After watching CNN, who stayed with the story all day, I thought surely they would at least have a split screen with one half covering the dippy debate of the not-witch and the other half on the grand finale of the mining story. But nooo. . . . . Guess that’s why they have shown it all day today, introducing the video with “in case you missed it. . ” So its back to reality. Anyway, I’m so impressed with Chile’s president; what a guy. I know he was hurting as he twisted his shoulders every so often, like he had a stiff neck or something like that. But he never quit smiling and hugging and saying just the right things to those poor miners and their families. God bless him and all the rescuers involved in that ordeal.

  5. re: multiple partners. The family from “Wives Sisters” is to be on Oprah today. Might be interesting as they say they did the reality show because they wanted to show the world that within families can be multiple adult relationships.

re: the miners – watched the last rescues unfold on Telemundo – it was the only local station carrying the live feed and following all the way through with the rescues. (I was appalled at the lack of follow through on the major networks actually – along with the lack of sensitivity to what was unfolding – but should I have been surprised?)

At one point a beautiful shot of the crescent moon was shown as she shined down on the last few rescues. The whole thing was beautiful, just beautifull – this community of men chanting and singing as one by one they were rebirthed from mother earth and reunited with family and friends above.

  6. ana and hypnotic,

I am moved by your words ana and, hypnotic, your suggestion about a book on the astrology of these miners’ experiences would be so revealing about this time in history. Like ana says, not just the miners but “beautiful energies” have risen to the surface to help our planet. It seems symbolic also that there is one miner returned to us for each year Jesus lived as a mortal man – before he transcended the confinement of mortal life. We are going through a transformation too. . . of our planet and our way of living on it. No wonder that people all over the globe have been transfixed by this miracle of love and faith. In the years to come it will be remembered as a moment of beauty amongst all the ugliness that surrounds us in these times.

In looking for an astrological explanation for the timing of the 24 hour window (more or less) when this event took place, I saw that the last solar eclipse (July 11) was at 19 Cancer 24, the sign of family. When the miners began their return the Sun in Libra was in a challenging square to the eclipse degree. When the last miner was freed Mars in Scorpio was trine the eclipse degree. Seems so obvious doesn’t it? Eclipses means something hidden is revealed over time. The Sabian symbol for the degree where Mars was last night was VENETIAN GONDOLIERS GIVING A SERENADE and the keynote is “Happiness as an overtone of social integration and conformity to custom” or “festivity”. I like that. Be well and be loving but above all, be.

  7. HOLA ERIC, GRACIAS FOR GIVE US WHAT I ASK LAST WEEK, I THINK WAS LA SEMANA PASADA, ABOUT THE MINERS, I’M HAPPY FOR ALL THE MINERS, ALL THEIR FAMILIAS, AND FOR ALL THE SUPPORT THAT ALL THE PEOPLE FROM THIS LINDO PLANETA HAS GIVEN TO OUR PEOPLE IN CHILE.

AND IS NOT OUR CULTURE TO HAVE SEVERAL PARTNERS, I THINK , TO HAVE SEVERAL PARTNERS IS UNIVERSAL OR BETTER SAID, EARTHY , (never mind the universo).I HAD LIVE IN CANADA FOR MANY YEARS AND IS THE SAME HISTORY HERE.
SOMEWERE I READ THAT THIS WAS A TIME TO RISE LIKE THE FENIX AND I BELIEVED THAT WE HAVE JUST DONE THAT. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. “NO MORE MINING IN OUR MOTHER TIERRA “. IT IS TIME FOR US TO START CLEANING OUR PLANET.
I BELIEVED THAT NOT ONLY THE MINERS COME OUT FROM UNDER THE EARTH BUT ALSO BEAUTIFULL ENERGIES THAT ARE GOING TO HELP THIS PLANETA.
MUCHAS GRACIAS FOR ALL YOUR BUENA INFORMACION,
MUCHO AMOR PARA TI ERIC FRANCIS.

  8. Would that not be the richest most intensely satisfying collaborative project for astrologers, to look at the 33 survivors’ natal charts in comparing to their stories and the event charts. A multi-volume classic set for sure ! 😀

    Blessings be..

  9. Fe,

Thanks so much for your comment, and yes, “we are all in this together” would apply to the miners too, at least after the 17th day when they made contact with the outside world. By that time Uranus had moved back into Pisces. My feeling is that it was the Aquarian planets at the very bottom of the chart, Neptune and Chiron, symbols of the power that gave the miners the impetus to bond as one. It will take some time (if ever) to learn how they adapted to the horrible situation in those early days before the rescuers even thought they might still be alive. When I said “we are all in this together” I was thinking first of those wonderful women who camped out by the mine from the beginning, determined to stay until their husbands, fathers and brothers were found and returned. Then the whole world watched and bonded with them, via television, and related to the trapped miners, their families and their countrymen. That would be symbolized by Uranus (TV, the unusual and unexpected) and Jupiter (network, expansive, foreign) in Pisces (compassion, confinement, emotional).

I know I’m not alone in being riveted to this story and its rich and powerful effects on the feelings and souls of we human beings. They just brought up the 27th miner and I for one am determined to stay awake ’til the last miner is returned to us. With only 3 1/2 hours sleep in the last 30 or so hours, it will be challenging!

  10. Don’t forget the supervisor. It takes real leadership to keep people from panicking and make them work as a team, and not eat too much food. Would like to know about his chart. I sensed a lot of love.

I interviewed a young boy once, 18 years old, who had one leg 4 inches shorter than the other that had been surgically elongated. His mother forced him to do the exercises even when it hurt beyond reason. She was in law enforcement. I was always sorry I didn’t tell her how well he spoke of her and admired her fortitude, even as his face revealed the great pain he had endured. He walked normally and with no limp, and is now a federal agent.

We can accomplish anything when will and strength and unconditional love are directed right at us.

  11. On the other hand, on the day the miners became trapped (Aug 5) Mars was in his opposite sign, Libra, blocked not only by sign but by his aspect to Jupiter (and Uranus), Saturn and Pluto. For that matter, Uranus and Jupiter are now in late Pisces and the sense of oneness, or “we are all in this together”, through the magic of television, is boundless. Compare this to August 5 when they were both in Aries tight into the t-square and the expression of fiery energy was stifled and for all intent and purposes, dead.

    bk:

Was just talking to a friend of mine and her observations based on whct she read and researched on the miners behavior, which is exemplary, given their circumstances.

Understand there was a high amount of cooperation underground, and each miner had a specific task, was part of a collective to keep the group focused and alert, and to provide information to above ground to let the team know how everyone was doing. That they managed this without going batshit insane for 70 days is quite remarkable.

I think this qualifies under “we are all in this together”, don’t you?

  12. oops – a mea culpa is in order:

just noticed the dateline on that story about the wives & mistresses was early september.

since a couple friends posted it today, i assumed it was current without checking.

i’ll poke around for something more current…

    sorry about that, folks!

  13. here’s just an excerpt from the telegraph, uk story:

    ****************
At stake are welfare packages issued to the families of the trapped miners as well as future compensation claims that could run into tens of thousands of pounds.

“Unfortunately the conflict stems from money issues,” said Mrs Flores. “Some of the men have children from numerous women and all of them have arrived here to stake their claim. I’ve met five families in this situation but I’m sure there are more.” Some women turned up at the camp to discover that their partners already had a wife and children who they knew nothing about.

“Those that truly love their men have slipped away quietly not wanting to cause any more pain to the families but others are putting up a fight.” Special welfare officers trained in marital issues have been brought in to provide help to women faced with their husband’s infidelity.

One miner, who has not been named, has a first wife he never divorced, his live-in partner, a mother of a child he had several years ago, and a woman who claims to be his current girlfriend all visiting the camp.
    ***************

apparently there was an argument in the canteen between a couple women who had to get pulled apart before they got physical.

yes, i’m very curious too to see how various new outlets handle this. clearly the situation of multiple partners, whether all current or not, is not unique in the culture. but it sounds like being completely open about it certainly is…

    and:

    ******************
“The team of psychologists charged with ensuring the mental welfare of the men below ground are attempting keep such developments from the miners.

‘We read all the letters before they are sent down to make sure the miners do not experience any extra anxiety,’ said Alberto Iturra, head of the psychological team.”

    *****************
i’m all for reducing the miners’ anxiety while they are underground, but i wonder if it will make things harder to cope with once they’re up & the proverbial fan gets hit with everything all at once?

  14. yes and I don’t mean to insinuate that any sign is “less evolved” only that Sagg has the special designation about being about spirituality itself. Notably it’s the 2nd solar house of Scorpio, so there is a lot of Sagg to Scorpio. Which by the way is not necessarily that smooth, Scorpio gets what it wants, usually, regardless of the potential consequences. But it can get bogged in a kind of competitive subterfuge. Sagittarius turns that inside out, putting it where anyone can see it. Pallas in Sagg would definitely be an occasion to look for international cooperation, mining rescue succeeding, case in point.

  15. bkoehler: very interesting observations you make comparing the two charts. that was something I was curious about but hadnt the time yet to look at

Eric, when you mentioned Pallas going into more spiritually developed sign, Sagittarius, a few thoughts popped into my mind. Sagittarius represents international matters and optimism. But it is a sign also known for its outspoken-ness and, well, lack of finesse. It will be interesting to see how diplomatic negotiations are colored during this phase. Looks like she was last there Dec. 05 to Feb. 06.

  16. Barbara and Amanda,
Thank you both for your cogent astrological observations.

Barbara – Thank you for your perspectives on Mars. You have a handle on that pllanet that i admire.

    Amanda,
One observation. As i understand it there is no such thing as “void of course” in Sagittarius because of the galactic center. Of course, that’s open to discussion but works for me.

    Amanda,
Your priorities are in the right place from my perspective. Your reasoning is as sound as a silver dollar. Grateful you are lending your grounded perspective to Planet Waves.

  17. 69 — such a magic number 😛

    sorry! couldn’t resist.

but seriously, with the mars-venus reversal b describes, it feels vaguely fitting…

  18. Hi Eric,

Thanks for this chart and for your observations. I think I can see that Venus in the sign opposite the one she rules is not able to express her energy as openly or as comfortably as Mars is able to do in Scorpio. Most of that love is being internalized for the time being. The miners, so far anyway, seem to flaunt their yang energy to the delight of all of us.

What a difference 69 days can make.

  19. Eric,
Many thanks to you and the other `Wavers who contributed to this coverage of a powerfully resonant event. Planet Waves – the home of journalism like it should be done.
