Mars opposite Saturn

In response to St Bridget’s comment below, before I step out in to the world (finally rested, after another week that felt like a month), here is a bit about this aspect. Mars and Saturn are indeed at opposition today: Saturn slow retrograde in Virgo and Mars moving quickly through Pisces. Mars in Pisces is a gentler version of Mars, it drives the imagination, wants sensuality and you know, drugs and drink go well with Mars in Pisces.

But this isn’t all there is to the configuration. I will post the chart later, but I can describe it now. The opposition takes place at 16+ of Virgo and Pisces. However, the Sun is at 15+ Aries, and Mercury is at 19+ Aries; and then Nessus is at 17+ Aquarius and Jupiter is at 19+ Aquarius — so those make a yod pattern pointing back to Saturn. Mars is close to the midpoint of Nessus and the Sun.

Now, what does this mean? As usual, a lot of planets are pointing to Saturn in Virgo. To me this is about not overthinking everything. Enough is enough: sooner or later, you make a decision. Mars is about acting on what you want, making your fantasies real, and using the power of Saturn as a point of manifestation. It’s a little like goldsmithing. You need to work with your metal and your tools and you need an idea and everything has to get hot for the thing to take shape.

Or, you could say the fantasy and imaginal power of Mars in Pisces meets the rational power of Saturn in Virgo: this is a moment of truth.

Any examples of that in real life, I would love to hear about, if you would care to comment.

Into the day…
Eric Francis

After a long, hard and psychically troubled fall and winter, I am creating the path I walk on and walking it and I’m seeing results! It’s involved going from a very stuck, sometimes paralyzed and unemployed “state”, to getting movement going, taking more risks, pushing into unchartered territory.
And today was my first day at a new job!
(I left my former job in November and then hit a complex bottom and psychic death place). Today, I started at 6:30am, worked hard, and felt fresh, alive, in touch with my person hood and even femaleness again (that hasn’t felt present for quite a while).

When I went into the coffee shop this afternoon, after my shift was over, I noticed a few men looking at me, smiling. That felt so refreshing to feel seen and recognized, then to catch myself in the mirror and be like, “whoa, that’s me? not bad…it’s been a while since we’ve seen each other….”

    And I start again at 5:30am tomorrow…
Thanks for asking. And I too appreciated your post Eric to 7 Towers. Thank you~

  2. Yeshe, we are ready for a revolution, but people are scared. Part of the hook of supposed monogamy involves having “someone to grow old and die with.” So that is a death trip. then there is the fear that if someone opens up, they will be branded with the Scarlet Letter. That is happening less, but it still happens. Then there is the bugaboo of telling the truth. There are people who would rather die, the thought is so terrifying.

Let’s not forget that there are not models for doing anything different. In our “either/or” society, many people think the only alternative to monogamy is “free love.”

    Yes, and what of it?

“Free love? As if love is anything but free! Man has bought brains, but all the millions in the world have failed to buy love. Man has subdued bodies, but all the power on earth has been unable to subdue love. Man has conquered whole nations, but all his armies could not conquer love. Man has chained and fettered the spirit, but he has been utterly helpless before love. High on a throne, with all the splendor and pomp his gold can command, man is yet poor and desolate, if love passes him by. And if it stays, the poorest hovel is radiant with warmth, with life and color. Thus love has the magic power to make of a beggar a king. Yes, love is free; it can dwell in no other atmosphere.”Emma Goldman

“Yes, I am a Free Lover. I have an inalienable, constitutional and natural right to love whom I may, to love as long or as short a period as I can; to change that love every day if I please, and with that right neither you nor any law you can frame have any right to interfere.”Victoria Woodhull

  3. Hi Eric,
I have Mars conjunct my 17 degree Pisces Sun and Saturn opposing it. The depression and lack of confidence the last few months have been staggering. I know I have to commit to movement of some kind, but I have been frozen, on and off. Some good things are unfolding but nothing that feels really solid as of yet. The shift is happening but it has been frustratingly slow.

Thanks for unwrapping the aspects so beautifully for us.

  4. There was a moment of truth. If Wm. K Black represents the rational power of Saturn in Virgo and the government/to-big-to-fail banks represent the fantasy and imaginal power of Mars in Pisces, it happened last night on the Bill Moyers Journal. I’ve not heard a better description of how the present financial crisis came to be. So maybe Mr. Black is the Mars in Pisces and the government is Saturn in Virgo! Or maybe it’s not either/or, but both/and. Well, whatever, it was Uranus on my ascendant that made it crystal clear how we the people have been and continue to be duped. Will be getting his book “The Best Way To Rob A Bank Is To Own One”.

  5. Erik, your response to 7Towers on sex and relationship was incredible! Where are more people like you? You so eloquently put into words what I have been attempting to formulate upon the major re-evaluation of my way of being that I have been currently undertaking. I am one of those lucky people born in 1966 with the flip side of the Uranus-Saturn opposition hitting me natally, as well as the Nep/Jup/Chiron opposing my natal Sun. I am emerging out of a life led for the past 18 years as if it were a past life, and have committed myself to having a relationship with my self, for a change of pace. I have been very busy socially, but attending social gatherings from this new place of being in a relationship with myself – and it has been very interesting to observe how the interactions with others have changed. I do not think most people, men and women, are used to seeing a woman, feeling complete within herself, and yet open to the unlimited experiences the universe has to offer. “we can have an experience but don’t have to merge” – EXACTLY! Actually, throughout most of my adult life, I have shocked many men by not being the stereotypical femme that jumps into monogamy just because we had sex; many men are very surprised that a woman would feel differently. I find most people are walking around sending out octopus tentacles trying to grab energy wherever they can, as opposed to being free and open to engage and share. And when they don’t find a place to hook in their tentacle they don’t know what to do or how to react. Anyways, keep up the good work. You hit the Venus square Pluto right on – thank you for helping me unravel some of the knots! And for providing validation for a fellow traveler.
