In the eye of the storm

Dominick's Cafe was the only place open in uptown Kingston the morning of the hurricane, despite leaks in the ceiling caused by partially complete work on the Pike Plan Canopy (see photo below). Picture by Eric.

We’re now under the eye of the storm — it’s bright and sunny outside, not a drop of rain falling. The storm is comma-shaped, and the big end has passed over most of New York State. There was some rain (didn’t seem like a lot, compared to normal summer storms) and a bit of wind.

Weather update – just went out again. It’s not really sunny, just very bright overcast, with a light mist falling, and a slight breeze. Here are some photos of New York City from last night, gathered by the Daily Mail in England, on a link that Gary just sent over.

"Pike Plan" canopy, left unfinished and unsecured, on North Front Street in Kingston, NY. Many business owners opposed the $1.5 million renovation of the 40 year old canopy, which was left unfinished when roofing contractors walked off the job two weeks ago. Photo by Eric.

  1. Thanks for the update and the pix Eric. Sounds like you are riding it out with good fortune so far. Speaking of England’s view here is how one British astrologer’s take on Hurricane Irene looks as he compares his country and ours through their solar return charts as well as natal.

“In the case of the US, however, I’m aware from the Uranus-Pluto square just how intense are the forces for change right now, and how intensely the US as a whole is trying to hang on to things the way they have been.”
