Her Sexual Revolution

Betty Dodson, left, with friend Amy Jo Goddard, flashes a Book of Blue postcard at the opening Thursday night of her memoir, "My Sexual Revolution." After twenty-eight years of writing and rewriting and rejections from publishers, Betty (who is 81) published the book -- her third -- herself. She is the author of "Sex For One," a masturbation and personal autonomy manifesto that has been translated into 15 languages. She was actually using the Book of Blue postcard as a fan. 1. And she’s 81! Just a reminder in case you needed it. Living human proof of true Goddess cum power, it’s apparent in her smile, the “Glow” — if you will — palpable by senses when she walks into a room.

Age can be a funny thing too, I work with A LOT of the geriatric population, that being said; I think that there is something to be said for the power of human potential and the freedom of choice to be willing to use it. Not too sure about you guys, but I’ll say

“Gee that Betty, sure does look a lot happier and healthier than most of the 80 year old’s I know”…

Most of the geriatric population that I work with don’t seem to be using their hips, so instead their hips are breaking. BAD was dancing around running the show last night, after all it was her party. She knows how to celebrate herself, and that is nothing less than inspiring.

Well, maybe nothing actually needs to be “said” at all, but there seems to be this sweet warm embrace in letting go of the notion that you don’t really exist, and welcoming yourself back home. And no, not back home as in utero, but out here in the world where you can participate if you choose too and maybe even have a little fun while your here.

There must have been at least 12-20 times last night where I wanted to rip my red heart-shaped sunglasses off my head and give them right to Betty, and then some where in-between those times; I had no desire to give her any sunglasses; I just wanted to look directly into her eyes.

Cheers to you Betty, and a heart -filled thank you for all that you have done, continue to do, all that you share with yourself and the world.
