The House of Representatives has collected 218 yes votes on a health care bill. However, the Moon in Cancer was void of course. Unfortunately, this is a foul ball.
The final tally is 220 to 215 — it has passed by the skin of a hair, with one Republican defecting. The ascendant in Washington is 16+ Leo and the Moon is at 26+ Cancer.
Hey Be… I just looked at Francis G.’s site. Very interesting. He has an outrageous sense of humor and I found his digital collages . . . well, over-the-top, but certainly eyecatching (I still speak softly when it comes to art-praise, unless I truly adore the work).
As for his take on July 19, 2006, hmmm… I am somewhat skinless this week (anybody else enjoying Pluto in their first house? square Saturn? hooboy), so what might strike me as simply ‘energized’ at another time hits me today as waaaaaay too much enthusiasm for the American shadow story.
I am wound into the American national karma at a rather horrifyingly deep level – my Sun, Rising and Moon are identical with the USA birthchart. Woot. Just part of the package I am dragging through this month.
As for the July 19 event –in 2006 it was the suicide of a man with exactly the same birthdate and full name as my primary consort — I think it was sorcery gone very awry, hitting the wrong target. I didn’t become aware of that suicide until July 19, 2008 when I dreamed the coven in question was carrying out some unmentionable acts against a female corpse, which the consort and I were trying to protect. The next day I found the record of 7/19/06 suicide.
All very personal, except for the fact that he has been tasked to do things for our time that are now . . . utterly hmmmm. . . let’s say they’re ‘composting.’ I was to have protected and assisted him, and I, well, I have not yet succeeded.
My Sun is a bit farther along than the 11th degree.
Back to burning my memoirs.

mystes,
In the article I cited a link to (or tried to anyway), there were two dates given for the U.S. progressed Moon. I mentioned them as a reference to where the Moon (progressed) might be right now or in the future. Don’t have the where-with-all to calculate that myself and Eric knew where the progressed Sun was but not the Moon. Let me try that link again and you can check out what the specific event the 7/19/06 date refers to. By the way, is your Sun at 11+ degrees?

The article is titled “America Attacks Itself”
Be? ”July 19, 2006 the progressed moon for USA (Sibley) chart was at 4 Leo. On 6/26/10 the progressed moon aligns with natal Neptune in Virgo.”
What is the significance of these two dates/alignments? The first date is significant in my world, but the story is too convoluted to tell here. Please and thank you.

Eric,
July 19, 2006 the progressed moon for USA (Sibley) chart was at 4 Leo. On 6/26/10 the progressed moon aligns with natal Neptune in Virgo.

Fe,
I read the Daily Kos story . .Slap, Slap, Slap and now understand about the “poor women” . Thanks for the link. I haven’t been so observant of the details what with the drive to get a foot in the door (with some kind of law to get the ball rolling) on improving healthcare. I suppose this was (part of) what Eric meant too.
Anyway, to add to the slapsticks, I found another slap reference, though not sure it’s about healthcare specifically. Read the last paragraph in “Where’s Daddy” for Sunday 11/01/09 .. . . .before we all get too slap-happy!

Eric,
My feelling about the Moon in Cancer opposite the U.S. Pluto in Cap was that, like a full moon, the “people” (Moon) saw the secretive Washington lobbyist groups power (Pluto) at its full strength. In the “Sibley” chart that Cancer Moon would have just been over the Sibley chart Mercury, in the Sibley chart 8th house. That Mercury rules that charts 9th house of understanding and law. The transiting Saturn on the midheaven (and conjunct the black hole) seemed to me to represent the importance and seriousness of the moment as well as the historical value of the act.
The phrase you quoted from Rep. Farrell “like slapping yourself in the face” needs more explanation for me to understand what you mean.
House passes Stupak amendment to apply federal prohibition on abortion funding to health care reform bill
WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. House of Representatives on Saturday adopted an amendment offered by U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) to apply the long-standing prohibition on federal funding of abortion to health care reform legislation (H.R. 3962).
The Stupak-Ellsworth-Pitts-Smith-Kaptur-Dahlkemper Amendment, which mirrors the existing federal policy known as the Hyde Amendment, prohibits the use of federal funding for abortion under the public health insurance option and prohibits the use of federal affordability credits to purchase a health insurance policy that covers abortion.
The amendment passed the House in a bipartisan vote of 240 to 194.
Eric:
Funny you should use the word “slap”.
This is a reaction from La Feminista at Daily Kos:

my sister in law has a $500.00 a month income on SSI and is age 62. She is not eligible for medicare. She can’t afford any mandatory deductions for healthcare. I agree with Nance – the cereal aisle should only offer 4 or 5 products. My grandfather and aunt lived to 92 and both died during the 1960. Their diet consisted largely of home grown eggs, vegetables, and bread. I don’t recall them ever needing any medical care. Meat was something people ate on sunday – a chicken usually. Maybe advertisers are to blame.
I wish I could say that a Cancer Moon opposing the USA Pluto in Cap was part of the revolutionary spirit. But borrowing from Rep. Perry Farrell, it’s more like slapping yourself in the face. That’s what this whole conversation has felt like. Aah, life in the United States of Insurance Companies.
I will say that the Moon-Pluto contact is interesting. Would someone like to run the progressed Moon and Sun of the Sibley Chart? I believe that the progressed Sun is at about 4+ Pisces, right in range of the forthcoming Saturn-Pluto setup.
nance . .you are too funny! Ceres would not like to hear that! Still, in 20 years it will be a lot better (the changes in healthcare AND the cereal aisle) than it will be in the beginning.

Poor as in poverty.
Fe,
What do you mean “poor women get the shaft”. .. you mean “poor” as in “poverty” or all us “poor, poor women”?
bk:
Lots of procedural shenanigans can happen between here and the Senate. We need to watch what gets dropped in Committee.
Looks as though in the current bill, poor women get the shaft. Back to the emergency room for health care for some of the most vulnerable.
I have such mixed feelings about this… Yes we need to fix health care, but I am so far away from the medical-industrial complex that I’m not sure this is the fix we need. I’d rather see the cereal aisle become illegal! Still, it is great news that change is afoot.
Uranus is still opposing the Sibley Neptune too and Saturn is still on the Sibley MH. Wouldn’t this bill get changed anyway when it goes to the Senate? It’s still historical but it’s past my bedtime and the cat wants to be fed!
The Moon may have been void but it was opposed the Sibley chart (U.S.) Pluto and that spells balance don’t you know!
