If Obama was just doing his job in signing the bill, why did Levin insist that it was the White House who wanted the detention provisions in the bill? Did I miss something in the MSM sound bites?

Amanda, if he did step into that phone booth and change costumes, I fear he would come out much as Michael Moore has indirectly suggested ::: as a Republican. It was Moore’s observation (to Keith Olbermann) that the Republican powers apparently aren’t concerned about the never-ending circus of their candidates because they don’t care who gets elected since they already control whoever gets elected. Chilling thought, but given the numerous acts and omissions by Obama, one can only wonder. The defense spending bill is but one example, with Michigan’s Carl Levin paving the way for him. WTF??!!
Obama also has repeatedly let it be known what he was going to do in any number of situations which has only given the Pubs the info needed to attack or dilly, dally, dither and delay, or obfuscate into oblivion. He seems to be doing that with Cordray. Which side will succeed?
Sigh. Well, at least Bachman is in a state of “suspended animation” with Herman Cain.
Time to go back to listening to an Eric podcast to reclaim some balance.

Defying Republicans, Obama to Name Cordray as Consumer Agency Chief
President Obama will challenge Senate Republican foes of the newly created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau by naming Richard Cordray as its director while Congress is out of town, according to a senior administration official.
That would allow the agency to establish new regulations over financial institutions, putting into effect elements of the financial regulatory overhaul that was one of the administration’s main achievements in Congress.
Mr. Obama’s exercise of constitutional powers to name top officials without Senate confirmation while Congress is in recess is a stiff challenge to Republicans, who have attempted to block the maneuver by holding “pro forma” sessions over the holidays.
