In today’s edition of Planet Waves Astrology News, we have an astrology scoop: the birth chart of Rachel Maddow, the MSNBC news anchor. Maddow is the freshest voice in American journalism, who has made a stunning ascent to prominence from radio sidekick to Air America reporter to Keith Olbermann’s stand-in to being the dominatrix of her own nightly program. Here is a sample of today’s edition.
Maddow is a fast wit and a deep intellect, so it’s no surprise that her chart has a powerful 3rd house — but her chart is really about Eris, you know, the new planet that was discovered and named between 2003 and 2006. True, there are a lot of ‘new planets’, but Eris stands out as a scientific breakthrough, and Maddow is one of its most exemplary studies. She also has a good blast of Chiron coming through; she was born at the peak of 70s feminism, which is all about the conjunction of Chiron and Eris. a note on the word lesbian, however. used as a noun, it is improper and lacks humanity. lesbian is an adjective: a word describing the kind of woman that [she] is: she is a lesbian woman.
the misuse of this word, as a person, place or thing, is of course widely accepted, though lax, undignified, and derogatory. would you say ‘he’s a gay’? no.. you would say he is a gay man. gay describes the kind of man he is.
she is lesbian. a lesbian woman, that’s what she is.

It’s the Millennial’s that intrigue me and I have great hopes for their ascent into politics. They seem to have resolved much of the gender, faith and race issues, they support activist government and regulations, and seem dedicated to social justice. And there can be no question that our current upheaval comes primarily at the insistence of the elders, shaking the chains of the white mans burden in our face. The average FOX News viewer is 67.
Revolution by cultural evolution? I’m encouraged each morning that the old is a day closer to fading away and the multicultural new is birthing.

Jude writes in Friday’s edition, “The revolution has been televised”; of how Edward Murrow finally exposed McArthy. It is, by the way, required reading for those of you who are ignorant of 1950s US of A shenanigans! The thrust of the article does indeed embrace Eris and the crisis of identity that the right wing teabaggers would foment!
Once more picking up the threads of 40 years of illusional dopery, it would seem that Rachel Maddow is in place to restore the kind of investigative TV journalism that we, as a collective of people who can actually think for ourselves, require.
The issues of identity were well and truly raised in the 1960s, but never really resolved. War is a great business! Death works! We were conned, manipulated, starved out, bribed with false promises, and basically lacked any sort of coherent guidance or leadership to navigate our way out of the garden that we just had to get back to, in order to keep dreaming and visioning. All of our heroes died young, usually at the hand of drugs supplied by the CIA, Air America, and their specialist charter flights out of South East Asia! The movement just sort of faded away!
However, here we are 40 years on! As if the dung beetle has produced an egg that finally hatched. Consciousness is again rising. Identity is being formed out of historical practice, understanding, and a vision that is supported by the needs of a planet whose population has indeed tripled in 50 years!

Their playing of world music has been simply immense. Supposing it could be proven with DNA coding that you were the 27th cousin, once removed, of Duke Ellington. His classical work “Black, Brown and Beautiful” would become a little bit more important than your new car or hairpiece! Of course, if you are sitting there thinking that you would rather be Bob Marley’s sister, then that is OK! I find it exhilarating that my watchman in Fajara is the Mandinka double of Miles Davis as pictured on his album Tutu!; that John Coltrane, who mashed up my head with “A Love Supreme” live in Antibes in 1965, could be a Wollof from Upper River Division. Jahass! Jazz!! How would you like to play tonight?
Why on earth would you want to do anything else?”
What is now so crucially different is Obama. Whichever way he plays the game, there can only be one winner. Us; freedom of speech and a collectivism that has been practiced for a thousand years. Circling the wagons produces a siege mentality that this time will surely fffffffaaade away!

Why publish data?
I don’t want anyone doing Rachel’s progressions or primary directions. I don’t want them to see when her big transits are. Maybe Pluto crossed her ascendant; maybe it didn’t.
Further, I understand my purpose in seeking her information from her, and I understand what I am doing with it as an astrologer. I cannot speak for other astrologers, and I don’t like the way most of them handle celebrity interpretations.
As for what I came up with today — well, it’s the essence of three years’ work with Eris. We have lots to talk about there…
..perhaps, a different way?..

I don’t understand, in a realm of up-front transparency. Where/how does this serve the “greater” “good”? (An honest inquiry).

Stevens’ letter arrived at the White House at 1030 am EDT, according to Maddow.
He was nominated by Ford, and was at the time considered a moderate Republican.
So,.. you guys have never shared (as far as I’m aware..). Why, Do you withhold birth data?

As regards to mid-wifery, Eric has also made connection with the mysteriously un-named object still known as 1992 QB-1, which by the way, is also currently in Aries, seperated from Eris by a scant three degrees.
Thanks for this. I love Rachel. We share a birthday April 1st, though a different year. Eris is also conjunct my Sun with Chiron/Merc conj. close by . I found out about Eris here at fabulous PW and ever since I realized that I had a Sun/Eris conjunction I’ve taken note whenever I really feel this energy. I think in visuals and I see Eris as a knife. Not a knife as a weapon, more like a tool. A knife that cuts through one reality into a different one. It cuts ties that bind too tight, it comes out to cut the BS that gets in the way, like a machete cutting a path in the jungle to see the light of day. Though there are times that I feel this energy as a knife that stabs to kill, but its usually killing old, restrictive ways of thinking. I think, Eric, you have talked about Eris as a mid-wife, correct me if I’m wrong, that is inline with my thinking of Eris, the cutting of the umbilical cord I see an Eris act. This knife visual may have something to do with the fact that Eris/Sun is trine Mars in my chart, but perhaps this trine helps me to get to the Eris energy. I definitely feel it.
Whatever anyone thinks of Obama, my choice to vote for him directly involved his inevitable choice of Supreme Court justices. That is the real legacy of a president.

Thank you for an excellent and educational example of how to interpret a natal chart. Like you have said many times, it’s the houses that make the difference.
News flash this in. Supreme Court Justice Stevens has announced that he will retire after the court goes into summer recess. Just in time for the T-Square. Looks like you and Ms. Maddow will have your work cut out for you. Interesting times indeed.
