Astrological chart for the bombing of Tripoli

Just in case you’re curious. Apart from the chart I’m gonna sit this one out.

Top chart is set for Benghazi where this began. Second chart is set for the capital, Tripoli.

This is cast for Benghazi, which gives an ascendant several degrees earlier.
Bombing of Tripoli by "allied" forces on March 19 Source is BBC.

“A French plane fired the first shots against Libyan government targets at 1645 GMT, destroying a number of military vehicles, according to a military spokesman.” — Source: BBC, so data is March 19, 2011, 16:45 (4:45 pm) GMT, Tripoli. Note that the data is in GMT, not local time.

Here are the minor planets. Atlantis is in the ascendant, to the degree, exact to 7 arc minutes.

  1. Hi Guys…….

Using astro is very straightforward….but you do have to get to the right places.

Create an account which is free………………..

I then go straight to free horoscopes on the button bar…..between horoscope home…and astro shop

Scroll down to the bottom left choice……extended chart selection……

You then get to choose a whole bunch of options….

Do not worry about the glyphs…look for the little blue lines on the 360 degree chart for natal…….

And you can add transits which are positioned in green……

A veritable smorgs bord of house systems ….and progressions …..pre natal and all sorts……..

I would reccomend that you make one choice at a time…..and then step back and comprehend what has actually changed.

The key is to find your way back to where you were….while understanding how you got to where you are!!

All the way to heaven…..is heaven!

  2. P.S. From my point of view, the nice thing about astro.com charts is they tell you the correct equivalent time in UT at the top, making it easy to create the equivalent chart on my site 🙂 The reason for the UT pain in the arse on serennu is that you need a somewhat expensive licence for the wonderful ACS Atlas to do all those timezone/place lookups.

  3. aword – thank you 🙂 xxx

I like alabe.com too, and astro.com for transits & progressions etc. If you want free Windows software to download, ZET is the most comprehensive free program. It has so many options you can set everything to come out just as you like it, and it caters for lots of weird and wonderful ancient techniques – it takes a bit of exploring though, it’s not that easy to use at first: http://zaytsev.com/index.html

  4. ya…Jere…Yep, use it all the time. Isn’t is Great?! Thx for publishing the steps here.

Michelle – perhaps I’ve been using it too long (years!) as a guest and have lost some “guest” privleges. In the upper left corner I get: “view PDF drawing (for subscribers)” and yep! I get an invitation to subscribe. 🙂 It’s all good. I really depend on their site – there’s an amazing amount of information there.

Amanda – it’s not like the little drawings are miles apart- but I can have planets spread out for as much as 2″ that are actually conjunct depending on what I’ve asked to see – or another example is that a planet will look like it’s in a sign but isn’t – there just wasn’t room for it to be drawn there along with other things. It’s not a big deal, just learned a long time ago to not depend on the drawing for 100 percent accurate placement.

More suggestions from PW crowd on how/what/where you get your tools is really helpful. I usually first run a chart on astro so I can “see” the wheel, sometimes several times with different planets/points, and then I’ll hop over to Serennu because I can easily check for accurate positions there.

Serennu is Truly Awesome ! (thanks Tracy!) and I’m positive there is a LOT there that I haven’t explored too.

All helpful stuff. Aren’t we awesome?

  5. ..For use of Astro.com..

Front page: Click “My Astro” (upper right corner)

Next: Click on “Create a Horoscope Immediately, As a Guest User” (middle of page)

..Fill in the info: date/time/place..: Click “Continue”

Click on “Extended Chart Selection” (bottom right side)

Under “METHODS” heading, you’ll find “Type of Chart You Want” (Tons of cool stuff!)

Under “OPTIONS” heading, you’ll find “House Systems” (Placidus is the default)

..You can add “Additional Objects” at the bottom of the page (very useful)

click Go (show chart now) at the bottom and you’re on your way!

    Happy charting!! 😉

  6. aword & michele —

very interesting. i’ll try to remember to check out the astro.com charts sometime soon. i can’t imagine not positioning planets near each other on the chart when they are conjunct, etc. — but then, who knows what the designer’s/programmer’s logic was in creating the system.

Eric uses Io Edition. it’s a software program you’d have to purchase, unfortunately — to the best of my knowledge. but out of the few charts i’ve seen created in other programs, Io’s graphic design is my favorite. there is one chart program that stretches out the zodiac sign glyphs along the edge to the point of being almost illegible. what’s the point of that?

i wonder if, when all charts were drawn by hand, the math involved was more dominant & led to some chart software that therefore assumed everyone would look at the numbers and “just know”? and now the internet has made visuals so accessible to non-astrologers (or newbies like us), but most of us are not schooled in the mathematics to cast a chart……

    ……just ruminating here!

  7. oh I get it! That’s a “feature” that’s reserved for subscribers. I’m on the “can only afford what they show me for free” system of astro at .com tee-hee! Thx tho, when I get rich I’ll have had time to get a good handle on the basics heh-heh.

  8. Awesome, Michelle! Thanks muchly for that tip!!

ya, “wtf” fer sure…mee too been sticking with the bottom line basics with the charts themselves while I learn to remember what glyph is what, learn to “see” how the planets relate to each other inside that diagram etc.

Really appreciate your questions and sharing of info while we all learn together. Good stuff!

  9. @ awordedgewise. So… At astro.com, you can choose the koch system under options/house systems (hee) and if you go to the pdf document accessible from the chart that is generated (top left) the degrees of the houses are listed. I never did pay too much attention to that because there are 14 options!! wtf? Still focused on learning basic signs and houses and a couple of planets. 🙂

@ Amanda. Different by a few minutes.

    Fun. Onward.

  10. PS…another major diference in the astro.com charts is that the planets etc do not “stack up” at the point they astrologically occupy in the drawing. So planets can LOOK waaaaay off from their actual degree. AND i’ve noticed that if I ask for too many planets and points that just happen to be around the same degree – astro.com will just not show some of them in the drawing.

I find I often have to work with “chunks” (several charts) and also very closely with serranu’s ephemeris’ in order to see what is actually going on…pain in the butt but it works.

and I have to say, with those two tools, the internet as a whole plus Eric,Len,Be,Fe,Jude,Jere,Yeti…and everyone else here at PW, it’s working out AOK for the learning process.

  11. Hey Amanda,

Run an astro chart and you’ll see what the missing/different components are (from what eric runs and posts here)

Astro.com charts do not show house degrees (unless there is an option to do so; I have not tried running a chart under each of the options they offer as there are many and most of the descriptions are meaningless to me at the stage).

If you run your natal chart, for example, you’ll see degrees for planets and points only.

I did not understand what those numbers were around the edge of these charts either. I often find it hard to translate what I’ve learned from the astro.com charts to the charts posted here at PW. But all good learning. All in good time.

Glad Michele asked the question – now we all have an answer to that one! 🙂

    Thx.

  12. hey michele —

i wonder also if astro.com is just using a different house system? eric generally uses the koch system; i seem to remember one of his reasons is that it’s more accurate at extreme latitudes. (though libya is not that far north of the equator — right on the tropic of cancer, in fact.)

i’ve noticed that my own chart rendered in the placidus house system has some of the cusps in different places compared to when it’s rendered in koch; though i believe the asc/dsc and mc/ic remain the same no matter which house system one uses.

are those cusp numbers (asc/dsc & mc/ic) the same in the astro.com chart for this event?

  13. =always something new and interesting to discover…these stories and astrology are fascinating! thanks Be.

Also as always causes inpiration to go digging……my own Siwa is conjuct my everlovin’ omnipresent double-yoded Pluto. Whee! 😀

And in speaking of the new war; let’s pray we’re not in this bog for long…..

  14. The Asteroid Siwa is conjunct the midheaven in the Benghazi chart and the Oasis of Siwa in Egypt is near the border between Libya and Egypt. There is a legend that the Phoenicians stole 2 priestesses from Amun’s temple in Thebes and sold one to Libya and one to Greece. According to Demetra George, these two priestesses founded the Oracle at Siwa and the Oracle in Greece. I’m wondering if the border between Egypt and Libya was different long ago, or how did the priestess go from belonging to Libya to being located in Egypt. Hmmm.

Martha Lang-Wescott says of Siwa: “Episodic, catabolic (breakdown/through) process that precedes insight; destruction of density/fixated beliefs; crisis of death or regeneration”. And this: “The Far East (including Japan); periodic occurrence, ascetic; attention to sound.

Wish I could learn more on this.

  15. thanks so much, be! equinox… in-front-of-my-nose sort of thing. and i really appreciate all the rest… some quiet evening perusal is in order, i think. thanks for your encouragement. it is all rather opaque and thick with information… makes me feel like a little kid.

  16. michele,

I’m thinking that the timing (and location) ie. equinox, is producing the more-or-less equal house charts, but there probably is something symbolic in the #’s themselves, and you probably have a better grasp of that than most of us. It is basically the full moon chart with it’s notable conjunctions (Sun/Uranus, Neptune/Ceres/Chiron) and oppositions (Sun/Moon, Saturn/Mercury & Jupiter) and mutual receptions (Mars/Jupiter, Saturn/Venus). So energies that work together, or energies seeking balance, or energies finding common ground are predominant. The basic, full-moon or “all is revealed” message is the theme.

The lens for the “self” of the chart is the 1st house with the Moon (the people) and Juno (legal partnerships) in Virgo ( tidy up detail, restore health) as the view of this event. From the self’s viewpoint, the 7th house is the partner or open enemy and is represented by Pisces Sun as a loco ruler and Uranus in Aries as the element of surprise and the unexpected, while Mercury and Jupiter try to strike a balance with Saturn in the 1st house. Impulsive but not out of control. Message communicated.

With the 10th house Gemini as what is seen, or the result, there are at least 2 ways of perceiving it. With the south node there, it is something that’s “been done to death”, but also it is conjunct Hades the hypothetical Uranian point, so one of the ways to look at it is as the cleaning up of some nasty mess, but it is also an opportunity to transform some baser human element. Judi Vitale (The Mountain Astrologer, April/May 2010 issue) in her article on Hades says in closing: “A greater sensitivity to the weakest and most vulnerable among us allows us to rise to a higher awareness and to take a few steps down the road toward greater spiritual transformation.”

With that in mind, as we move a few steps down the road, the historical importance of this event coming at a full moon that squares the nodes, one end conjunct Hades (lower consciousness) the other conjunct the Galactic Core (wisdom of the Universe), and Uranus on the Aries Point (affecting us all), and only a day away from the Spring/Vernal Equinox (all things being equal), with its own extraordinary symbolism, we will be finding meaning in these charts for decades to come. Take your time in learning as there is a lot of it to learn.

  17. Hey Michele, really impressed that you put some tentative thoughts ‘out there’. I too am in such a space as an astrological learner. Keep it up. I have the same issues with changing glyphs and charts and using astro.com as first port of call.

At the local astrology group I attend, they use a blackboard-style chart with chalk and it’s harder to pick out aspects. These guys have been doing astrology over 25 years and remember many charts plus see aspects without geometric indicators and are proficient with the ephemeris. I enjoy being a novice! It’s easier to learn things 🙂

  18. I’ve been sort of learning with the astro.com charts, which are different than these. And, I’m starting to see, somehow these are more specifc. Anyway, I checked out some past charts you’ve posted and this complete dominance of 22 degrees is not on. What’s that about. I get that it’s all the final decanate. Are each of those 22s the beginning of the houses? Is this indicating the ending phases of the situation in all areas? I think I’m seeing that everything is being lost. Everyone is leaving. (From his perspective.) I realize I sound simplistic, but you have mentioned that this is also a place to learn…

And feel free to note I’m right off the chart, so to speak.

    thanks,

  19. ..Holy crap! The whole world is against this screwball. He has no friends. He’s still really freakin’ pissed about having his family blown up. That scarred him on a personal level.

There’s some danger of this situation being taken advantage of by the ‘powers that be’, but if we ‘work toward awareness’, this too shall pass.. with minimal b.s. and a cooler World for it.

    ..crazy chart..
