He didn’t get up there and tell us who we should kill for an hour. He had some ideas. I’ll like him better when he sends Geithner and Berbanky packing. We’re still doing better than under the Murder, Inc. administration. And if We, Them People provide some leadership on the right way to handle the banking crisis and getting the hell out of Afghanistan and Irak, it will be a lot easier for him to reflect that leadership back to us.
Now don’t be shy.
Heard an analysis today, “only 9 minutes of foreign policy in a 70 minute speech.” That was reassuring to hear, for me anyway, it made the commentator quite nervous.
Just hearing that Howard Zinn died prior to the State of the Union address. Has someone done a chart on him?
Hi Art and Animals,
The model you propose is approximately how I’ve run Planet Waves for quite a few years. Apart from the micro-economics of how I pay most of my own salary, we invest everything back into the community in lavish free services, which are in turn paid for by the subscriber services. Our version of that model is something akin to: subscribers ‘purchase’ access to the excellent stuff they get, while making it possible for many, many more people to have access to information complete in itself, without a charge.
Note: we are able to float our entire operation without advertising; which means, without constant interruption, mental assault or any other agenda. When the ad market fell out the bottom of the universe, we were unfazed.
Watching this, my accountant has suggested that I become a new-model business consultant. Due to human conditioning (the ‘beat the system’ gene), it’s not necessarily easy to run a business on what is known in biology as a plus-plus symbiosis, but with some devotion and power of invention, it is surely possible. And the truth is, it’s inevitable as we move toward a sustainable world.

I wanted to share this op-ed article from The New York Times. It is about a 14 year old girl whose questioning and determination to find solutions to the problems of poverty pushed her family to sell their home and give half of the proceeds from the sale away.

I have written to Warren Buffett (twice, no response) and other people with their own foundations, suggesting it is time for them to give away part of their endowments as well as the interest. It really is time for us to ask the difficult questions of ourselves and take action. For a 14 year old, the choice was clear.
Gentlemen:
QUOTE FOR THE NIGHT:
“I forgot he was black for an hour” — Chris Matthews, MSNBC
Wonders never ever cease. What a dipstick.
== I used to think he was an interesting commentator. Then one comment by Tom Tomrrow mocking him…did him in. I am calling for Republicans to call for his resignation. -efc
The one from Virginia? God, that was stupid. About not giving rights to “foreigners” who are accused of terrorism? Ummmmmmm so we give FOREIGN CORPORATIONS the right to influence our elections unfettereed, but foreign people who are accused of crimes are supposed to get no rights?
Smart, safe Republican response… kills me.
