omg, another pertinent rant to the anger that’s boiling over (and *lots* more profanity, so be warned peeps) but hey, I’m never more proud to be Irish than I am listening to this man let rip for all of us!
Opps sorry, meant to add a warning that the trailer contains profanity. (No surprise there though — us Irish don’t hold back when pissed off!)
My teenager and I caught this last night……I really hope some of it rubbed off. The student speaks so clearly and with the necessary *fire in the belly*.
This energy to stand up and speak our frustrations is happening the world over, in so many cultures and it is gathering pace. People have suffered governmental and corporate bullying up the whazzoo for too long now, but no more huh? There is a definite shift taking place. As Eric has said many times, the sixties were a walk in the park compared to what is coming down the shaft.
Check out this trailer for a film/documentary from Ireland, where the locals are standing up to Shell who wants to put in a natural gas pipe line through their land and sea. The fisherman in his wee boat is brilliant — all hail Pat “The Chief” O’Donnell, alongside the brilliant young student above.
I hope the middle-aged folks in my generation do all we can to encourage these young ones, who will have to carry on for all.
It’s going to be a long fight. We should be in it together, all ages.
THANK YOU for posting this…I am 36 years old and spent a good amount of years going to protests when my supposed-liberal friends went to yoga and didn’t want to be around “negative” energy of the Anti-War movement, etc. They sat on their asses and just watched as Bush stole the second election….they barely do anything now.
Over the past 2 years, I have connected and friended many younger folks (mostly between 19-28) and I can tell you: they CARE.
