Be True — Venus Enters Aquarius

To thine own self be true.
William Shakespeare

Venus enters Aquarius at 4:03 pm EST tomorrow reminding you to be true to yourself. The reminder derives from how Venus manifests in your life. Another consideration is how long Venus has been in Capricorn, and how Aquarius differs from Capricorn. Finally there is how Venus will make precise aspect to intangible yet important points in the Moon’s orbit upon ingress to the Aquarian realm.

Astrology by Len Wallick

Among other things, Venus is about values, both material and otherwise. Material values have predominated for a long time, but it has not always been that way.

We appear to be far removed from times and places when truth and beauty were considered to be equivalent manifestations of Venus. The cultures where aesthetics and ethics had a value without a price seem so long ago.

Yet, intangible values have not ceased to exist so long as you know how it feels inside to have a conscience and be true to yourself. If you have somehow lost that (self) loving feeling, Venus entering Aquarius is a chance to get it back.

If you have found yourself recently focusing on how love does not pay the rent, it may have to do with how Venus has been stuck in Capricorn for four months.

A cardinal earth sign ruled by social Saturn and corresponding with the 10th house of big institutions like governments and corporations (which run on money and feel no love), Capricorn has held Venus and its values captive for a long time. Indeed it has been long enough to forget that society predates governments and corporations, and was long ago predicated by the shared values of community.

You don’t feel community with governments or corporations, you feel community with people — people upon whom you depend, and who depend on you.

Long before your place in society was measured by your material wealth or what nations and/or companies you identified with, values were associated more with the content of your character than the contents of a vault. That’s how Aquarius, also ruled by social Saturn prior to telescopic discoveries, differs from Capricorn, and how Venus is about to shift its expression.

The problem is that you will not have the luxury of Venus traversing Aquarius for four months in order to shift back towards being more true to yourself. Instead, it will be four weeks, until April 5, after which Venus will leave Aquarius for Pisces. The awareness conferred by astrology can, however, help you make up for lost time.

As one of its most ancient and basic tenets, astrology holds that the unfolding and ultimate conclusion of a cycle, or episode in a cycle, is seeded at the beginning. That’s how the aspects made by a planet upon entering a sign are considered to be auspicious.

Aspects are angular relationships between objects on the zodiac circle as well as in the sky. While Venus will make a number of aspects upon entry to Aquarius tomorrow, there are two of those angular relationships that stand out because the theme echoes not only the difference between Capricorn and Aquarius but also a predominant pattern developing for astrology this year.

The astrology this year is dominated by a grand cross aspect developing between Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto either opposing or squaring (at right angles to) each other. When Venus enters Aquarius tomorrow it will complete a grand cross of its own, but not with planets or otherwise material objects.

Tomorrow, Venus will seed its new episode by opposing the mean lunar apogee in Leo and squaring the mean lunar nodes in Scorpio and Taurus — all precisely to the degree.

The mean lunar apogee (otherwise known as Black Moon Lilith, or BML) is an intangible point in space. Nonetheless, BML has enough value to be included with the sign-ruling planets on nearly every ephemeris used by modern astrologers.

Black Moon Lilith is the mean value of the furthest removed point in the Moon’s orbit, and hence corresponds to the values that don’t mean much to the governments and corporations around which our daily life revolves. Yet those same values are what allow you to remain true to your own center around which your relationships revolve.

Similarly, the lunar nodes are intangible but important enough to earn their own column on nearly every ephemeris. The lunar nodes are the two perpetually opposing (and constantly moving) points where the Moon’s orbit around the Earth intersects with the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.

The value of the lunar nodes is nearly incalculable. There are where eclipses (probably the most important of all astrological events) take place. The nodes are also symbolic of the entryways into and out of the material world.

We all enter the material world the same way. We all leave the same way as well. What we bring in and leave with is not material at all.

What we bring into and take from our short lives on this Earth are intangible values without price, the ramifications of mortal life that last longest, and all of it comes down to being true to yourself. If you can simply live in awareness of that simple, yet profound, fact of life tomorrow, you will be in harmony with the heavens, and you will seed the next four weeks of your life on this Earth in the most auspicious way.

  1. Yes Len Venus in opposition the Black Moon is the shadow of the table giving a fatal feelings when other factors come into play, one breaks the décor that you had tastefully decorated…
good quarter moon at all 😉

  2. “BML cannot fail to empower you so long as you refuse (like Lilith herself) to give away your power. Begin with awareness, then take responsibility for your awareness by acting so as to be whole (just an Lilith did). After making yourself whole, you will find yourself standing in your power, invulnerable to the inevitable but vain disparagements of those who have thrived at your expense for too long.”

    Len, this is beautiful.

  3. yes, I love this for aquarius. I have been searching out language for my Chiron at that first degree of AQ and I like very much the sense that my true self was unwelcomed in tribe after tribe, at least that is what I thought. Venus transiting is saying it’s time to let go the tribe, that will work itself out if I’m true to me …

  4. @Len

All right, I’ll learn to dread less the transformational process. The last Aquarius planet square I had was pretty intense, so I am a bit wary, but I’ll make an effort to embrace it.
Concerning Black Moon Lilith, I wonder what it’ll take for me to learn to own my power and not be afraid of disparaging comments. I can express myself forcefully out of impulse, yet feel so insecure about what others think of me sometimes. Learning how to feel emotionally secure is going to take effort for me.

  5. be: Thank you for expertly and perceptively expanding on the theme to demonstrate how long-term astrological cycles find correlation in our short lives. Your point about broadcast television being its own pernicious message is especially appreciated. It was not my intent to disparage Capricorn as shallow (it is not), only to distinguish what it has in common with and how it is different from Aquarius.

    P. Sophia: Thank you as well for expanding on the theme with timely spiritual correlations worthy of extended and serious contemplation.

Salamander: Thanks to you also for expanding on the theme with your astute personal correlations. Please dread not the square and oppositions aspects, for there you will find personal evolution favored. In response to your question: BML cannot fail to empower you so long as you refuse (like Lilith herself) to give away your power. Begin with awareness, then take responsibility for your awareness by acting so as to be whole (just an Lilith did). After making yourself whole, you will find yourself standing in your power, invulnerable to the inevitable but vain disparagements of those who have thrived at your expense for too long. If you do not find my response sufficient, please let me know.

  6. It would be nice to have a society where character mattered more in a person, however, people’s criteria for worthiness can vary a lot.
As far as institutions are concerned, it depends on the goals of institutions, and the people they tend to attract. There are a few government institutions that are very caring from my experience (ok, I have Neptune in Capricorn in the 10th house ^^’). While I can be a fan of small businesses (I work in one myself…Neptune in Capricorn in the 10th house), I am more wary of big corporations.

As with many Aquarius transits, the only thing I dread with Venus in Aquarius is a square to my natal Scorpio Pluto and an opposition to my Leo Venus. Hopefully, the sextile to my Aries Mars can compensate that, by giving me the drive to transform in whatever way the Pluto square is asking me to do. There would also be a sextile to my natal Sagittarius Moon.

Thank you for the tips on going through the transition from Venus in Capricorn to Venus in Aquarius, Len!

I have a question regarding Black Moon Lilith. I’ve struggled to see the empowering side of BML. In my case, I have Black Moon Lilith in Virgo in the 7th house, and the main aspect is a square to my natal Sagittarius Moon in the 10th house. What is the best way of dealing with BML and a square aspect involving BML?

  7. Yes Len, sadly as you say most big corporations and governments have been controlling and disobedient to what is of true value. Disobedience leds to disorder of our relationships both internal and external to family community and society. And the wisdom of conscience comes not intellectually but by experience.

Thank you for pointing out the importance this aspect’s position is to Venus and in the timing with her ingress Aquarius. I find it all very appropriate to the commencement of Lent tomorrow. Ashes are a very good reminder to us of what is of real value. Ashes are material, and death on the one hand, but also we can rise from them at any moment.

‘The value of the lunar nodes is nearly incalculable. There are where eclipses (probably the most important of all astrological events) take place. The nodes are also symbolic of the entryways into and out of the material world.”

  8. Well said Len, especially enjoyed your observation that Venus being “stuck” in Capricorn for so long can reduce one’s evaluation of Love, to remarks as to how it doesn’t pay the rent. My brother (whose almost as old as I am) wondered aloud how we all arrived at these widespread attitudes about what’s important in life and about life itself. My answer was Television but not just tv alone. The sponsorship of tv entertainment and news by the promoters of goods and services has fouled the nest of most American homes over the last 65 years. Our “group” values have been reduced to the most shallow and deplorable levels; not basic mind you, shallow.

It was at the beginning of when TV’s could be found in most American homes, in February 1952, that the transiting Saturn-Uranus cycle had reached it’s midpoint. Saturn was at 14+ Libra (conjunct the U.S. Sibly Saturn) and opposite Jupiter at 14+ Aries (where transiting Uranus will be on May 1st, still holding his squares to transiting Jupiter at 14+ Cancer and transiting Pluto at 13+ Capricorn).

This cycle which was reaching it’s midpoint in 1952 had begun in the sign of Taurus at 14+ degrees (and squared the Sun at 14+ Leo) in August 1940. I guess some lessons need repeating because the present day Jupiter-Saturn cycle also initiated from the sign of Taurus, the sign of values, in 2000, and this time it was square Uranus in Aquarius.

You with your beautiful phrasing are the piercing effect of Uranus (as he appeared in 2000 when he squared the new beginning of societal cycle of Jupiter-Saturn) decile Neptune, an aspect of 36 degrees (which will be exact before the end of March). A decile is 1/10th of a circle and Frances Sakoian and Louis Acker in their book The Minor Aspects say
“the decile aspect relates to the will or purpose of man’s higher spiritual nature and indicates the possibility of the individual being a vehicle for the expression of divine will in some way, as indicated by the planets, signs and houses involved. This is one of the reasons why this aspect is said to have an occult significance.”

So, assuming that transiting Venus (and or Uranus and or Saturn or Jupiter, and/or the nodes) is aspecting something divine in your nativity which is echoing the stories told in either the 1940 and/or the 2000 Jupiter-Saturn cycle charts (whose beginnings were in Venus ruled Taurus), I thank you so much for sharing your insight with us today.

Because Mercury can symbolize superficiality or shallowness (Gemini’s roots are not deep but they spread out over much territory) I checked his where-abouts in the two starting cycle charts of Jupiter-Saturn.
*In 1940 Mercury was at 26+ Cancer and quincunx (adjust to) the Galactic Core at 26+ Sagittarius.
*In 2000, Mercury was at 26+ Gemini and opposite the GC as if to say, see what influences the information you get (a kind of full moon expose’ aspect being opposite the GA) and has that information become more balanced (opposition) now within the universal picture (GC in Sagittarius).

If not, we have until December 2020, when Saturn and Jupiter will begin their new cycle at 0 Aquarius, at the same time the Sun will be at the winter solstice, conjunct Mercury at the start of Capricorn. Mars will be square Pluto and Venus will be trine Chiron and quincunx Uranus. Hard (for me) to tell what that means right now, but Capricorn doesn’t strike me as shallow exactly, material yes, but not sure that’s such a bad thing. However, the north node in Gemini and the south node in Sagittarius will be squared by Neptune, and transiting Mars will square the U.S. Sibly Mercury as the Moon approaches the Aries Point!
