On Wednesday at 5:27 am EDT, a powerful, high-voltage Libra Full Moon takes place with the Moon in Libra and the Sun in Aries — pushing us to express ourselves with honesty and authenticity, even if it might shake up the status quo. This energy has the potential to be intense, calling us to consciously choose how we let it manifest — as confrontational or creative.

Aries is a busy place over the Full Moon, with the Sun conjunct Venus and Uranus in addition to being opposite the Moon. Also, Mars in Aries is square Pluto in Capricorn. That’s a lot of internal energy needing somewhere to go. It may come with the feeling of a building pressure, like a Coke bottle being shaken up. When the cap comes off, the Coke rushes out in a fizzy explosion as the pressure is released. Like that Coke bottle, we’re moving through a moment of pressure release. The key is to direct it constructively.

The Sun in alignment with Venus and Uranus is bringing a bold spark to our feelings and how we express ourselves. Isabel Hickey describes Uranus as “[representing] intuition that comes like lightning in a flash of knowingness.” She adds, “[Uranus] always changes the ‘status quo’.” With this conjunction in Aries, the sign of ‘I am’, we are called to be free to express our authentic selves regardless of what others think. Freedom does not come from permission given by others; it starts with us allowing ourselves to act in accordance with who we are.

Uranus can have an erratic quality. I suggest not making change for change’s sake, simply to be different. Rather start with something you know is authentically true for you, and make small changes in your behavior and actions based on that fact. With Mars square Pluto over the Full Moon there’s a caution to be careful of quick tempers or reacting from a place of anger.

With all this intense, potentially reactive energy, the Moon in Libra is giving us a point of grounding and balance to hold onto. It’s the place we can reach for when we need perspective or distance from all the heat, intensity and push for instantaneous action coming from the planets gathered in Aries. It’s a reminder to balance emotions and feelings with reason and forethought.

Lastly, the Libra Full Moon is square a slow-moving hypothetical point called Kronos, kind of a super-Saturn. Eric has written that Kronos “describes an inner growth process through which you recognize your authentic role in the world.” Kronos making a square to the Libra Full Moon is reminding us of all we have learned about who we are and what we want — giving us a call to action that the time has come to live what we have learned.

As the Full Moon works itself out, take steps to change the status quo slowly and methodically with thought and care for all involved in your situations and agreements. Resist the urge to apply empathy only to yourself. Remember to extend it to those around you. Ultimately, though, we are invited to check in with ourselves and make some proactive changes to the structures of our lives, drawing on what we’ve been learning regarding who we truly are at the deepest levels.

  1. “With Mars square Pluto over the Full Moon there’s a caution to be careful of quick tempers or reacting from a place of anger.”

Thanks for the heads up Planet Wavers, am doing my best to drive the speed limit and be cool = reflective, aware, and clear.

  2. Ok three times this week so far I’ve noticed people acting crazy and flying off over nothing. Doing errands and pulling into a parking place, I honked when I noticed another truck pulling into a space I was aiming for, there was another one right next to it, so I was just letting him know that I was there and to not drive into me. He started yelling at me but fortunately I had the Grateful Dead turned up in the car and all I could see was his mouth moving and an angry face. I just smiled my nicest smile at him and went about my business. In my gardening group’s Sunday meeting, one loud argumentative man got into a nasty conflict with the teacher, and hijacked the discussion for a good twenty minutes of angry ranting. Everyone was cringing and it really felt painful, I had to leave the room even though it wasn’t directed at me. Some of us discussed this after class, and I have been reflecting on it as well. Under this man’s rage I sensed a tremendous amount of pain around being disrespected, which he was just exacerbating by yelling nasty untrue things, we had to shout him down. Then today, on my way to another class, a truck cut me and another driver off on the freeway, he was speeding and driving erratically. I ended up following him to my destination and it turned out he was in the class as well so I had a chance to gently tell him that he was driving unsafely and endangering himself as well as others. He apologized. It was very interesting to me that these three events provided some sort of lesson about converting anger to something more positive, especially when my knee jerk out of Brooklyn reaction would be some smartass remark and a middle finger.

  3. Thank you, Genevieve, for your exceptional insight into and feel for this Libra Full Moon. Over yesterday and today, it would appear that Planet Waves astrologers have accomplished some very productive teamwork in constructing a framework through which this impending Full Moon may be experienced. Your role in the collaboration leave me in awe.

  4. This:

“pushing us to express ourselves with honesty and authenticity, even if it might shake up the status quo. This energy has the potential to be intense, calling us to consciously choose how we let it manifest — as confrontational or creative.”

    and this:

“With Mars square Pluto over the Full Moon there’s a caution to be careful of quick tempers or reacting from a place of anger.”

all happened yesterday in a group I have been with since 1996. I finally spoke of the issues I was concerned about and another person did the same. Tempers flared in the group and one of my closest friends said it was “drama” and left the group. Her calling it drama left me feeling guilty for even bringing it up. Today, other friends from the group reminded me that it was not drama to talk about an issue that is deeply entrenched in the group and which causes pain for some. Calling it drama trivialized it which hurt me a lot coming from someone I love that much as a friend. The group has worked it out but not to my satisfaction. At least it is now in the open; as people consider it small steps may happen and progress will be made. Already several of the group have contacted me and said they felt the group made more progress yesterday that it had in years.

Amazing how I seem to always feel the astrology just as (or right before) it is happening. Simply amazing.

The upshot is, I am getting better at being myself and not pleasing everyone to the point that I am in detriment. That is progress indeed!

Now I need to write; I have been feeling the urge to write about a conversation my husband and I had about giving and receiving oral sex. I think it would be of benefit to readers so I am off to write on my blog after a long dry spell.

  5. “Uranus always changes the status quo” Well, it certainly happened in our world on Monday!

The Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, had a cabinet reshuffle removing all the “dead wood” from the cabinet who had plotted to remove her as Prime Minister a week earlier, and closed down a few departments that day, including the Department of Climate Change, which I work for in the Pacific outpost. It was a shock and I spent all of yesterday (Tuesday here) in quiet reflection realising that my “cushy” office job would definitely end in June, as contracted, and not extended for another year, as we had been hoping. While this was a shock, as I was thinking about the turmoil in my personal world…how to pay the mortgage, support the kids in school, access to the internet and my planetary and spiritual study with Planet Waves…… I started reading about the changes she was putting in place for the whole country and found this little snippet in one of the news reports, by Peter Lewis and Jackie Woods:
“In the week of the non-coup, Labor passed legislation creating a National Disability Insurance Scheme, moved to limit unpopular Coal Seam Gas mining, and made a heartfelt and bipartisan apology to the victims of forced adoption.
While the Government drew loud and sometimes hysterical fire for its attempt to reform media laws, another question this week shows this issue is barely on the public radar, with two-thirds saying they had heard little or nothing about it – despite a week of front pages.
With the nuclear option now off the table, having fewer compelling political personalities in the limelight may be the silver lining in Labor’s quest to rebuild its standing in the electorate.”
Julia Gillard is not popular in Australia, but neither is the guy in opposition. But in her reshuffle, she promoted four more women to cabinet and senior positions, she made some excellent choices for industry, which they have praised in the media, and she’s made history by surviving many leadership coups. She’s put in place controversial carbon tax to encourage the reduction of green house gas use and increase in alternative power initiatives. Whether she wins the Sept 14 elections or not, remains to be seen, but even if she doesn’t, she has left the country in much better shape than when Labour took power eight years ago.
The political is definitely personal, and knowing that my job is not secure has pushed me out of my comfort zone to seek employment elsewhere, going against my usual trait of steadfast loyalty to the bitter end. But, as you have beautifully advised, Genevieve, “take steps to change the status quo slowly and methodically with thought and care for all involved in your situations and agreements.” I will be applying for two new positions today, but with the full intention of advising them of my current contract. I will be believing that I have all the tools and skills neccesary to be in the running for these two positions, without having any expectations – a huge leap of faith.

Thanks Genevieve, Eric, Amanda, Len, Be and all the bloggers for sharing the “road map” literally just before we put our foot down, and our foot in it, so we can tread lightly on planet earth.

    Om Shanti,
    Sina

  6. Thank you, Genevieve, for mentioning Kronos.

Both the 2012 Capricorn full moon and 2013 Vernal equinox were preceded by lunar conjunctions to Kronos:

    28 December 2012
    10:21:10 UT – Sun (7 cp 5’39″) opposite Moon (7 cn 5’39″)
    10:22:55 UT – Moon (7 cn 6’31″) conjunct Kronos (7 cn 6’31″ Rx)
    10:41:45 UT – Sun (7 cp 6’31″) opposite Kronos (7 cn 6’31″ Rx)
    14:34:12 UT – FULL MOON – Moon (9 cn 12’6″) opposite Pluto (9 cp 12’6″)

    20 March 2013
    07:50:13 UT – Moon (6 cn 23’14”) conjunct Kronos (6 cn 23’14” Rx)
11:01:54 UT – Sun enters Aries (direct)
    12:06:32 UT – Mars (6 ar 23’14”) square Kronos (6 cn 23’14” Rx)

Kronos in Cancer will form a T-square aspect to the Full Moon in Libra, and the Sun and Venus in Aries. This energetic imprint will be carried forward by Venus and the Sun as they make their respective rendezvous with Uranus.

    26 March
    21:46:26 UT – Sun (6 ar 23’32”) square Kronos (6 cn 23’30”)

    27 March
    03:47:22 UT – Mars (11 ar 30’52”) square Pluto (11 cp 30’53”)
    06:36:57 UT – Venus (6 ar 23’32”) square Kronos (6 cn 23’32”)
    08:37:25 UT – Moon (6 li 23’33”) square Kronos (6 cn 23’33”)
    08:49:13 UT – Moon (6 li 30’23”) opposite Venus (6 ar 30’23”)
    09:27:18 UT – FULL MOON – Sun (6 ar 52’25”) opposite Moon (6 li 52’25”)

    28 March
    17:04:55 UT – Sun (8 ar 10’36”) conjunct Venus (8 ar 10’36”)
    23:00:42 UT – Venus (8 ar 29’1″) conjunct Uranus (8 ar 29’1″)

    29 March
    00:37:44 UT – Sun (8 ar 29’15”) conjunct Uranus (8 ar 29’15”)

  7. Agreed – thank you, Genevieve. I was nodding emphatically throughout this article – all this is really ringing true!

Sun + Venus + Uranus in Aries opposite Moon in Libra signifies to me an intuitive recognition of what is truly beautiful and good about the world we live in, and about ourselves. A few weeks ago I was in almost total despair because everything seemed to be going wrong, and I felt powerless. Now I know I have the capacity to direct my own life, just by accepting who I really am.

The world is not perfect, but the air is full of magic.

  8. “the time has come to live what we have learned”. Yes. Thank you for this lovely piece and precious advice, Genevieve.
