Extraordinary security measures for Clinton wedding

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Area Braces for Impact; Young Virgins Prepared for Big Night

HYDE PARK, NY (AP) — The Hudson Valley is under a general curfew starting at 6 pm Saturday, as part of extraordinary security measures being taken for the wedding of Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky, a broker of residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS).

Local newspaper details the new travel rules. Photo by Eric Francis/News of the World.

The Clinton wedding, which was prophecized by Nostradamus in the famous Quatrain LMXVIII, is taking place at the Astor estate in Rhinebeck. Mr. Astor was last seen boarding the Titanic in April 1912 and is not expected to be in attendance. Gov. Patterson was not invited, either.

Through the weekend, it will be illegal for residents or visitors in Dutchess, Sullivan and Ulster counties to step outside their homes. And as of last night, no vehicular or air traffic was allowed without direct consent of the Secret Service. All flights in and out of Kingston International Airport were diverted to other parts of the region. A squadron of C5-A jets was on alert at nearby Stewart Air Force Base, in case additional provisions or support were needed.

“Those are the rules and we’re going to enforce them,” said Ulster County Sheriff Morgan Van Der Luftborgenstein IV. “They apply to people, pets and the police equally. We’re not even allowed to drive. All road patrols will be on a gumshoe basis. That’s what community policing is all about.”

In addition, all dogs must be on 24-inch leads maximum, cats are barred from hunting and parrots must be muzzled. “We’re taking this very seriously,” said Van Der Luft Borgenstine. “We’ve already impounded a six stray cats and a macaw,” he said. “Please, keep your cat indoors and tell your bird to shut up,” he added.

The Hudson River is closed to all but private, pre-authorized traffic from the George Washington Bridge as far north as Fort Edward. General Electric removed all PCBs from the river for the weekend as a courtesy, but will restore the Hudson to is natural condition Monday after the last guests have sobered up and gone home.

Astrology Today: The Oracle for Saturday, July 31, 2010

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Capricorn monthly of August 1, 2006

The Oracle.

You’re finally allowing yourself to think outside the goat. You may be dreaming of foreign countries or distant friends; of freedom you’ve never felt before, including the freedom to have your own ideas; and all in all, you know in your heart that the world is your real home. The truth is, you have bigger hills to climb than you’ve ever dreamed of climbing. I ask you: what is holding you back? Please consider carefully. Something just may be holding you back, but it’s nothing you cannot address with your will and intelligence.

Speaking of Old News

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

The issue of unexploded ordnance doesn't affect only the Gulf of Mexico -- it is a worldwide problem. Here is a photo of a possible G-Series WWII German ground mine resting in 157 feet of water, adjacent to a pipeline in the North Sea. Photo from Samuel-Herbert PDF.

The New York Times today reported that the Gulf of Mexico for decades was used as a bomb dumping ground by warships returning to port after military operations. While this really involves all coastal waters in the United States, the the untold thousands of oil rigs and capped wells in the Gulf of Mexico — combined with the BP blowout — make this a pretty important story.

Here’s the funny part, which is that we broke that story on this blog in early May, and reported it in detail the same week in Planet Waves Astrology News. Here is that article, from our subscriber archives. Coverage of the Gulf being used as a munitions dump starts about 1/3 of the way down.

In today’s edition of Planet Waves Astrology News, we are one of a very few news outlets that is actually covering the contents of the Afghan War Diary that was published by WikiLeaks on Sunday evening, containing 91,000 sensitive government documents about that war. And it’s being hailed by the media as “old news”! Well if it’s so old, why didn’t anyone tell us about it before? One problem with the Afghan War Diary is that it reveals what the media has been withholding from us all these years — which are the atrocities on the ground involving civilians.

I’ve decided to make today’s edition available to everyone. Please pass it around; if you know any editors, let’s get it into their hands, and plaster the link all over Facebook. If you click the link, the “permalink” URL will open.

Astrology of the Afghan War Diary

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

New edition of Planet Waves Astrology News

Today’s edition of Planet Waves Astrology News is now being mailed to our subscribers and contributors. The lead article covers the astrology of WikiLeaks, which this week released to the public tens of thousands of pages of classified documents pertaining to the Afghanistan occupation, technically the longest war in U.S. history — surpassing even our official involvement in Vietnam. In this article, working with Planet Waves editor Carol van Strum, we look at some pages of the Afghan War Diary and analyze how it both presents and conceals information. I study the astrology of the day the database was released, then explore the natal horoscope of WikiLeaks, and how it ties into the chart for Sept. 11, 2001 and also the chart for the Asian tsunami in 2004 — the charts all contain an important common element. If you are a subscriber, check your inbox. If not, you may subscribe at this link — there are many options.

Astrology Today: The Oracle for Friday, July 30, 2010

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus monthly of September 1, 1999

The Oracle.

When the total solar eclipse blacked out the Sun at midday over Europe, the constellations appeared, birds returned to their nests, and the great wandering star Venus shone brightly on the world. The Goddess of love illuminated humanity’s gateway into the next world of consciousness, and pointed the way to your true inner home and your only peaceful resting place in this world. There are people who will challenge and inspire you with righteous ideas. There are men and women of great strength whose authority is based on pure power, and with these people you will need, on some level, to reckon. But your inner light is stronger than any promise, any cause, any threat or any “new hope for the future,” and this gospel of love is written in your heart, and in the stars.

There Goes the Neighborhood

Mars direct into Libra. Savor that one. For those of us west of zero degrees longitude (the vertical line that runs through London, France, Spain, Algeria, Mali, Burkina Faso and Ghana) it will happen before midnight tonight. For those East, sometime tomorrow morning, sort of like the Full Moon that started our week.

Remember? Our very calendars, representing the established order, were not in agreement. Some said the Full Moon was on Sunday, some showed it to be on Monday. To heck with the calendars. They didn’t have their act together. We encouraged you to figure out where you were at on the face of the Earth so as to eliminate the unusual uncertainty of whether for YOU, the Moon was full on Sunday or Monday. Then we asked you to extend that idea and figure out where you are at inside of yourself, a first step of rising above and becoming an exception to the unusual uncertainty which has characterized our time. Just because Big Daddy is lost does not mean you have to be.

In the Monday blog we asked you to draw a cross inside a circle — the basic zodiac for our purposes. The cross divides the circle into four parts, the seasons. The lines are where each season begins, the cardinal points. The Sun moves around the circle counter-clockwise, initiating each season as it reaches each cardinal point. The full circuit is one solar year. Continue Reading »

Saturn in Libra, and Mars about to be

Published by under Daily Astrology Blog

Friends, Cousins, Readers:

Have a look at this chart. It’s the conjunction forming that I described in yesterday’s audio. Mars looks like you would expect it to (note that we have added an astrological glyph key to every post, in light blue, right above), and the number 29 next to it, which tells us that it’s in late Virgo; and the planet next do it is Saturn in early Libra. If you’re feeling a sense of edgy tension, that may be it. If you’re feeling a sense of limitation or frustration, now you have a picture of how that looks astrologically.

Eastern segment of chart for Thursday morning at about 8:30, set in NY, showing Virgo rising and the Mars-Saturn conjunction about to happen. Note that Mars is about to change signs and conjoin Saturn. It's also opposing Jupiter and Uranus in Aries (not shown), and it will soon square Pluto in Capricorn (not shown). Note, the pink circle with the slash is Transpluto, a hypothetical; Mercury is in green; Venus is in blue and Vesta is in pink.

There’s a sense of needing to break free, to push (Mars theme) past a limit (Saturn theme) in a relationship (Libra theme) and set your desire free — whatever desire that may be. I just wanted to point out that this conjunction is happening today.

This is one of those astrology setups that says: take it easy. Drive like a Buddhist. Avoid any unnecessary discord, because it could easily escalate, magnify and do damage.

My friend Tracy Delaney in Wales, who you know as an occasional commenter here and as the programmer of Serennu.com, has written an entry about Mars and Saturn in Libra. I love her astrology writing, most of which I get in emails as we unravel new planets and weird charts. Here is what she has to say. –ef

Mars and Saturn in Libra

By Tracy Delaney

Libra is the seventh sign, the point half way through the zodiac cycle, where we have individuated and are now beginning the return journey, the process of re-merging with the whole. Libra is therefore where we begin to deal with “the other,” the “not me,” hence it’s considered the first sign of relationships.

For all its associations with beauty and harmony and being ruled by Venus, Libra is in fact a masculine air sign. The suggestion being that we need to be proactive (masculine/yang) and engage brain (air) when embarking on relationships with others, rather than letting the heart rule the head.

When two people do that their needs may be different, and so on the surface Libra seems to be all about balancing the scales, looking for an equilibrium that works. Which doesn’t sound very romantic. Particularly with Saturn there, the practical realities and hard work that go into real relationships are highlighted; the truth of Libra underneath its pretty dress. Saturn is ultra inflexible, and so things tend to break rather than bend under his influence; this a good time to get out of relationships that are not good for you, where you’re trying to bend yourself into a shape that does not fit.
