Unsubdued — Solar Taurus Again

The Sun enters tropical Taurus again just before Midnight EDT Saturday to affirm your life. It is no small thing. This time of year has always provoked those in more northern latitudes to declare it “finally” spring. First harvests are being made south of the equator as well. Nevertheless, affirmation of your life is now more vital than ever.

Astrology by Len Wallick

It’s vital for you to participate as vividly living now because the Sun’s ingress to Taurus has been met with human activity negating life in recent years.

It started on the Sun’s first day in Taurus 2010, also Chiron’s first day on the job in Pisces. We awoke on April 20, 2010, to find out about the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, and arose every day thereafter unsure as to whether we were witnessing the beginning of a mass extinction event.

The beginning of solar Taurus the following year found us wondering the same sort of thing for a different reason. More than three years after an earthquake and tidal wave on March 11, 2011, set off an unprecedented nuclear disaster in Japan, we still don’t know the ultimate outcome for life on Earth.

Then, whatever encouragement your life could take from the “Arab Spring” of 2012 was dampened by how News Corp UK (formerly News International) was caught basically stealing souls, and then was dampened again by two of most frightful words ever spoken: Mitt Romney.

Finally, last year at this time two more words: Boston Marathon.

Yes, the beginning of solar Taurus has taken quite a beating in recent years. It has not been fate. It was never destiny. Not the Sun nor the Moon, nor any of the planets, have caused this time of year to be less than celebratory of life as of late.

Nearly all trauma that has accompanied the Sun’s ingress to Taurus over the last several years was caused by human beings who were working (consciously or otherwise) to negate life for profit and power. Now, the Sun, Moon, planets, and the rest of us who are part of the solar system need your assistance to turn this thing around.

We need you to begin with yourself this weekend. We need you to arise from whatever has you down and do something to show yourself as bigger and more powerful than your problems. Then, once you have affirmed your own existence, we need your help encouraging others to do the same for themselves.

The specifics will vary with who you are. You could replace a life-negating habit with a life-affirming practice. You could refuse to give your precious time, or share the earthly resources in your care with those whose interest is dealing death. You could expose the hypocrisy of those who claim to be “pro-life” while also advocating for the murder of those already living.

At the very least, you can take a silent, personal and solemn vow to remain as unsubdued as the Sun itself.

For no matter what else happens, the Sun will not be deterred. It will continue to shine. Old Sol will enter Taurus again, right on time. As the Sun does, so should you. It would put you in good company.

For somewhere, when solar Taurus begins again this weekend, flowers will be blooming. Somewhere, people will be making love. Somewhere, somebody will be getting fed because somebody else cared enough to make the meal possible.

Somehow you can, through your actions, be among those who assure that life returns again and again, unsubdued. Somehow, some way, you can make a difference by making this time of year again what it once was — an affirmation of life for the living. It’s what you are here for, and we are so very glad to have your help.

  1. There is a great animal strength in Taurus which allows to work hard until the stubbornness, it me take this chilly Sun arrives on my ascendant so I began a process of rebirth as the beginning of spring
It feels like the brutality of the symbolism of the animal enter our cell, obviously on the symbolic level we can appropriate it
Thanks Len, always interesting (mercury Taurus it has great interest has made it) your articles

too funny my first comment the English translation and the original in french published at the same time, I’ve seen too late, sacred Moon in Aries that receives the South node 😀

  2. bodymindalchemy, Bette Loreen, aword, Mia, jinspace, be, P. Sophia, and Lea: Please accept my apologies for not having thanked all of you earlier for your comments. i was ill over the weekend, mostly in bed and offline recovering from whatever had me under the weather. Please accept my belated thanks for your contributions.

Thank you Len, and be and QB1 commenters for much needed life-affirming and earth-supporting messages and reminders as we face another true year’s beginning of our walk around the the Wheel of 2014.

  4. Thanks Len, I completely agree and you know what’s so great, so many of us are now expressing similar feelings but in slightly different perspectives and this process of voicing and reclaiming really helps us navigating as we stay connected and grow! ‘Something’ sure is pushing us forward together and through!

I believe in looking back to the Eclipse of 15th, and Amanda’s great article, “What Goddess Reveals”, continue to feel it’s about transforming this discordant energy and the position of the opposition 25+ degrees Libra to Eris and Juno give us is a good map and story to work with in resolving.

After all we, the US, the new world, a new creative force, or being with a new vision and direction, any energy of change is also going to create some kick back and jealousy from the old/outside authority, status quo and consequently if this is where we live same will be created within ourselves.

Still (we) universally, me personally am being called to understand real strength and security from the perspective of residing on the inside. For those that this is new to this will continue to be a difficult time. What is of value here is recognizing, no more than that, owning our integrity, and will take the sheer will and determination as you call out so clearly here to us. But also from the inside I would like to add is a unlimited tangibility that expands from a space of not having to prove. Finding ‘worth’ not as has been ‘measured’ between us before…for so long.

As I posted in my comment to Amanda’s article on the 15th, the Sabian Symbol say it so clearly @ Libra 26° AN EAGLE AND A WHITE DOVE CHANGE SWIFTLY INTO EACH OTHER. “…balance and compensation. Unity.” But this counterbalance is in the responsibility of knowing it’s purpose in confidence and from within…To reveal Aries 26° A MAN, BURSTING WITH THE WEALTH OF WHAT HE HAS TO GIVE.

Maybe what’s to come is we will finally see and live more of this passive-assurance, guts and glory all in one. Together brought to Earth grounded in Tauras. Here’s hoping, everyone!

  5. Well, nothing (in astrology) says “property” and “bull-headed” more than Taurus does it? Mia’s reference to Bundy’s cattle grazing (Uranus in Aries) vs. government laws (Pluto in Capricorn) is tied to the miniscule aspects of Neptune’s tri-vigintile (54 degrees when exact) to Pluto and decile (36 degrees when exact) to Uranus, aspects that symbolize energies transcending routine expression and understanding (via elements of air, earth, fire, water), to a level of ether, where spiritual will is the driving force. Nothing (in astrology) says “spiritual will” better than Neptune and Neptune’s occupation of Pisces is all about emotional strength. Beyond what we perceive, there is an occult purpose to this standoff.

More might be understood by closely examining the Libra lunar eclipse chart of April 15. The (hidden) Moon (emotion) was exactly conjunct Ceres (earth mother) who, when aroused because some thing(one) was stolen from her, was a formidable match for even King Zeus. Asteroid Demeter (the Greek counterpart to Roman goddess Ceres) in the eclipse chart was in verbose Gemini and conjunct Chaos. They were trined by Mars in Libra, squared by Apollo and Elatus in Virgo on one side and Borasisi, Astraea, Hebe, Pandora, Arachne, and Siwa in Pisces on the other side. Questions of authenticity (Borasisi) and human behavior (Astraea) – among other things – challenge the Greek goddess of earth in this chart and with retrograde Mars in Libra in her corner and Chaos by her side in Gemini, so far the kerfuffle is a war of words only. It is certainly the darling of the media too!

Whatever the true purpose of the standoff between individual (+ supporters) and government is, it will not be obvious right away. It’s one more step in unraveling the knots of contention shown in the Sibly birthchart for the U.S., ie. Sun square Saturn, Uranus square Ceres, Pluto opposite Mercury, and to a lesser degree, Chiron opposite Juno. Getting the knots undone leads to the evolution of the U.S. and contributes to the evolution of our species.

Mars will station direct in May and leave Libra just after his conjunction with the north node and trine with Venus (who will be in the same degree as the ascendant of the 1st Uranus-Pluto square chart set for Washington DC). At about the same time, Saturn will station direct in July and will also trine Chiron, allowing for cooler heads to re-build and heal the breaches within negotiations of all kinds. Additionally, transiting Jupiter (benefic) will enter Leo (creative) and during August and September, he will conjunct the U.S. north node (opportunities to mend and grow), make a quincunx (adjustment) aspect to Neptune in Pisces then a quincunx with Pluto in Capricorn. Uranus retrograde will retrace his opposition to the U.S. Saturn and square to the U.S. Sun in October as Pluto begins to move forward. Uranus and Pluto will square off again in December for the 6th of their 7 squares. By the January 2015 full moon conjunct the U.S. Sibly Sun (trine transiting Chiron), the transiting moon’s north node will conjunct the U.S. Sibly Saturn in Libra and the moon’s south node (release) will conjunct transiting Uranus in Aries, which should allow some peace on the plains of Nevada.

  6. Awordedgewise – “The fires just don’t seem unsettling.” I thought it was just me! I am definitely loving the current astrology.

Bette Loreen – Your dad sounds like mine. He was a Virgo with Cancer rising, a great and ethical caretaker who never made a lot of noise about all the good he did. And he did a lot of good. 🙂

  7. Great article Len.

You may be following the situation in Bunkersville, Nevada, about 100 miles from Los Vegas. Rancher Cliven Bundy and his family have been joined by militia and individuals from around the country to stand up to the Bureau of Land Management over the rights to land their family has been using for approximately 140 years. He is the last rancher in the area, everyone else has been driven off in one way or another. The BLM had 200 rangers there, all heavily armed, and ultimately were forced to leave for fear of their own safety. It is not over. BLM will return. Reports say 1,000 people showed up to support the Bundy family and were ready to fight if need be. This just may be the beginning of a citizens’ revolt. Many people think so and are paying close attention to how things develop at the Bundy ranch. The issue of state versus federal ownership of land is just one of the questions being addressed here, as well as Harry Reid and his son having a sweetheart deal with the Chinese for a wind farm. So much is happening. My feeling is that Putin served as an example for the world when he said “NO” to Washington. Cliven Bundy is doing the same thing on a national level. The warm weather is here and there will be protests in the streets and in the desert of Nevada.

  8. When the Sun moves into Taurus, it will conj my MC at 0,05 Taurus and oppose Jupiter/NN/Neptune in Scorpio. Interesting that at the onset of the Cardinal Grand Cross I’ve also got a lovely water trine of those same planets (natal Jupiter and Neptune on the IC/Scorpio and transiting Neptune just past natal Sun in Pisces while Jupiter transits natal Ceres in Cancer.)
And as has been, transiting Pluto on natal Mars, transiting Uranus just now past natal Moon/Eris. Transiting Saturn is definitely acting like Atlas, down there at the bottom of my chart holding the whole array to some form so it doesn’t oscillate out of control.

Actually, life almost seems calm, although its really been one small fire after another. The fires just don’t seem unsettling. This moment too, strikes me as more like the calm prior to a storm….perhaps an opportunity to be like the palm tree in the wind and bend.

  9. In addition to “midwives, those who assist others in the dying process, certain highly conscious sexworkers, sex therapists, ‘tantric’ teachers and orgasm coaches”, I would include independent investigative journalists in the roster of ‘thresholder’ occupations.

Robert Parry and the superb team of reporters at the Consortium for Independent Journalism http://consortiumnews.com/ are among the very few who qualify for such a distinction.

Indeed “the fight for honest information about the past and the present is a battle for the future.” In an era of unabashed propaganda via the mainstream media and pervasive disinformation on the internet, Robert Parry and his team at Consortium News remain unsubdued in their demonstration of accuracy and standards for factual reporting.

  10. Beautiful & heartening post, Len! Here at 52 degrees N, we’re still awaiting “real” spring – after a teaser, it returned us to winter for a bit, so whenever the melt & the greening really do come, it will feel like a “second spring” in a way.

I was thinking about that & realized that the second spring idea applies for me personally, also. It was 16 years ago today that I moved from the city to my tiny village, the biggest move of my adult life, & a massive change. No regrets about the move, many about some choices I made after I got here. But I’ve worked my way mostly out of those consequences, through healing work, reflection & more than a little Grace.

Taurus is intercepted in my 11th house, & has taken me some time to understand. My late father was a Taurus, & I, with no placements in earth signs, struggled to understand him as well. The reverse was no doubt also true.

When I plant garden seeds, when I shall get back to digging & planting for both food & beauty, I’ve come to feel I am not only supporting & sustaining my own well-being & self sufficiency, but also honouring my dad. He was an amazing gardener. When I continue to protect the land he left me, & its myriad living things, I guess I’m carrying on the work that he & many visionary others began long ago.

Taurus seems to be very traditional – I’ve never met a Taurus who was an outspoken radical. Yet I can see that in his quiet way, my father was radical, & in many ways ahead of his time. When others were ripping up every acre for profitable crops, he preserved land, ensuring that it was used only for grazing cattle, & never over-grazed.

Thank-you, Len, for provoking some useful reflection for this “earth-less” Sagittarian. I plan to spend my own “second spring” both looking back & savouring this time, & the choices that I have now, both earned & gifted.
    Bette

  11. Since early 2013, potent healing support has been available at the threshold of Taurus.

This year, very precisely as the Cardinal Grand Cross stations exact and Chiron greets Venus in Pisces, 1992 QB1 enjoins the Sun and Mercury in Taurus.

    20 April 2014
03:55:31 UT – Sun enters Taurus (direct)
    07:28:48 UT – Jupiter (13 cn 29’11”) square Uranus (13 ar 29’11”) 2/2p
    17:40:22 UT – Venus (16 pi 10’6″) conjunct Chiron (16 pi 10’6″)
    23:26:05 UT – Jupiter (13 cn 34’17”) opposite Pluto (13 cp 34’17” Rx) 3/3p
    20:10:21 UT – Sun (0 ta 39’39”) conjunct 1992 QB1 (0 ta 39’39”)

    21 April 2014
    19:20:58 UT – Uranus (13 ar 34’7″) square Pluto (13 cp 34’7″ Rx) 5/7p

    22 April 2014
    19:27:44 UT – Mars (13 li48’40” Rx) square Jupiter (13 cn 48’40”) 2/3p
    23:26:05 UT – Jupiter (13 cn 34’17”) opposite Pluto (13 cp 34’17” Rx) 3/3p

    23 April 2014
    07:08:13 UT – Mars (13 li 39’2″ Rx) opposite Uranus (13 ar 39’2″) 2/3p
09:16:00 UT – Mercury enters Taurus (direct)
    13:37:53 UT – Mars (13 li 33’43” Rx) square Pluto (13 cp 33’43” Rx) 2/3p
    17:44:06 UT – Mercury (0 ta 44’21”) conjunct 1992 QB1 (0 ta 44’21”)

Eric has described the energy of 1992 QB1 thusly:

“Those who dare to do things differently are Thresholders. It is their ability to help others make transition the way that works best for them, that gives them this distinction. Yet it’s also the willingness to transgress the prevailing conventions and the rules of society that makes them what they are. Any Thresholder takes a risk in helping with the transitions that they do, so that willingness to dare to cross a known boundary is essential to the concept. Often there is a personal risk in doing so. What they do may not be illegal but it often exists on a legal margin, and a margin of social acceptability. Yet deep beneath any seeming controversy there is a deep need, and a craving.”
