New issue on its way to subscribers

New issue of Planet Waves.

Three days before the anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb by U.S. forces on Hiroshima, Eric takes on the bigger picture of nuclear power; even without an explosion unleashed from a plane, it is an assault on existence. Nuclear bombs and nuclear power are, at essence, the same thing — and Eric speaks with Youko Yamomoto, a former resident of Hiroshima who has dedicated her life in the Hudson River Valley to getting this idea across.

In fact, if you’re in the New Palz area, you can attend a traditional Japanese dance event, called Bon-Odori, which Youko has organized with an anti-nuclear theme. Bon-Odori starts at 1 pm on Sunday, Aug. 5, and Eric will be speaking at it around 4 pm.

If you live too far to attend, you can still read today’s subscriber issue by purchasing it here. Or, try out our one-month free trial subscription here. Today’s issue also includes your Mercury-direct horoscopes for all 12 signs and an array of astro-news briefs.

  1. Eric: Thank you so very much for going beyond simply remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Your eloquent assessment of what real people do, and the real results they get, is a clear-headed validation that doing what one can is not synonymous with futility. All actions add up and amount to something, hence, better to act mindfully and with intent.

  2. Eric…re: Libra weekly- my ascendant: You typically write horoscopes that feel personal, but this one is exactly how I’ve been feeling this year, more and more as the year progresses. Especially the last 4 days, accelerating like a bike on the downside of the mountain after a grueling climb to the summit. Your Pisces and Aquarius energies really tune into something that can be relevant to a lot of people, yet also specific enough that I sometimes suspect that you’ve been spying on me 😉

    Good work, bro.

  3. Yes, thanks for the article and keeping this in our awareness. In connection with this and Fukushima, I keep thinking of Kurosawa’s film “Dreams” It is a beautiful -if not melancholy- contemplation composed of vignettes based on actual dreams he had throughout his life; one of which involves a nuclear disaster.

Also a link to an article about the Nagasaki/Hiroshima flame making its way, in peace, to the site of the bomb’s creation ( 2005 in the hands of japanese monks)http://planetwaves.net/pagetwo/planet-waves-promo/new-issue-on-its-way-to-subscribers-6/#comments

  4. Thank you for continuing to carry the torch on the insanity of nuclear power, Eric. Strong, clear and tender writing — the tenderness essential to not perpetuating further aggression.

  5. I totally agree with you on this — have felt that way forever or since I was a conscious young adult anyway…started listening to your podcast…Liking it…
