That’s a great post! I’m on the same wavelength with you regarding something being “wrong” with Nature, and our way of life being out of balance.
Now I am going to challenge you to take it a step further!
I challenge you to start to teach this to those around you who have a lesser understanding of what is happening with the natural world, and I challenge you to find positive ways to make lasting changes.
I know that sounds corny but I deeply beleve that is what our time here is for — to help spread this understanding to our neighbors and to begin to construct a sustainable infrastructure for human life in the years ahead.
Are we going to have cars and airplanes? If we think we have to have these things, is everyone going to get to use them? Can we make a sustainable transportation systme for the planet, that doesn’t consume fossil fuels and doesn’t destroy fragile biospheres….can we do that?
Are we going to have big office buildings in our green future? Where are we all going to work? If we’re going to have office buildilngs, how are we going to cut their use of energy and water, and make them more efficient and tolerable to be in?
Same with schools and hospitals — how are we going to make them sustainable? How are we going to make our food system sustainable, so that it can feed all of us without using genetically engineered crops or polluting the soil and water and air.
This is the stuff we have to start to figure out. A day will come when we can start to implement some of these things … in fact that day is already here, in many cases. Small, but meaningful things are being done every day to change the way we live and the way we affect the natural world.
So get going ! You have seen through the BS and you know the score. Now put your knowledge and wisdom to good use. The planet needs you.

into Virgo on 18 Sept. (04:15, Eastern time, bow to the Masters) – although doesn’t he bounce between Leo/Virgo cusp until right before 21Dec2012……00Vir00?
and I thought to look up what the other 3 Royal stars were up to…
Aldebaran will be at 09II58, Antares 09Sag56, and Formalhaut 04Pis02….
OK this forms a mutable cross of these stars…..and if I’m thinking correctly, which isn’t my forte of late, Regulus will be the only one of the four on the ecliptic…
anyway, throwing this out into the ethers ( or the four directions?) for comment as well.. may be just me thinking of pattern recognition…I will continue mulling it over too.
currently chewing the cud over Ceres, 3 stomachs to go, I’ll let you know…
ps. my calculations/times may be a bit off, as recently noted, no fancy software, just pencil & paper old school, but I think I’m close…per usual, just more questions, noticings….

What a fabulous conversation! ( Eric, small point of order… the summer midpoint festival is called Lammas, not Imbolc, the latter is the Feb. 2 festival of Lights, but Lammas is dedicated to Lugh, a very cool Celtic solar-type god)
The points covered in your discussion in this podcast are so vast and profound I find it hard to take it all in, but I’d like to respond to one particular point: the Ceres in Aries point to be precise….here are my immediate impressions:
– Ceres at the Aries point… yes, it is new beginnings time. Yes, fresh start. Yes all that if the glass is half full in your world (and for most of us our glass is abundantly full compared to many others who live here on this planet). Agriculture (as I’m sure we all recognize here in this circle) can be practiced sustainably, even on largish scales, but like everything else in our current reckless trajectory while we attempt to feel safe and comfortable here on planet Earth, it is out of balance. I don’t see Ceres in Aries as being particularly balancing, unless we approach it from the shadow (Libran) side, which, given our current level of imbalance may be exactly where we are heading. One possible aspect of Ceres in Aries is quite literally food wars and famine. Given the changes in the planetary systems and cycles, I would not bet against this. Aries is of course new beginnings, but it is also trials by fire (drought), and all the other traditional things we associate with the sign. The question is: have we sufficiently matured as a collective to rise to the “Higher” frequencies of Aries, as exhibited by the beneficial aspects of the Emperor card in the Tarot, or will we revert to what is familiar but oh so very unworkable- wars… this time over food? I honestly don’t know.
There is an aspect of Ceres in Aries that I have been particularly aware of lately. I have Ceres right between my sun and ascendant (which are only 4 degrees apart) so she is a strong force I am still getting used to, astrologically. Lately what Ceres has been saying to me is “this is all WRONG”. I know a lot of women are feeling this as are people who work the land. Everyone feels the same thing: “something” is wrong with the natural world. We absolutely feel it but we can’t put our collective fingers on what exactly is “wrong”, but it feels HUGE, this sense of “wrongness”. I’ve been in other discussion groups and they too have been saying similar things… a sense of displacement and uncertainty of a kind we’ve never known before.
It used to be that we could count on the Earth to be a certain way, fairly regularly. Whether we worked the land or not, we each instinctively felt the cyclical nature of the seasons and knew what was reasonable to expect. Nowadays two separate things are happening at once:
– the seasons and planet itself are undergoing massive, unpredictable and sometimes devastating changes that affect us all in some way or another. and,
– despite all our wonderful benefits of modern life, we are living further and further from having any sort of meaningful relationship with the earth, other than what we hear and see in the news (which is not “meaningful” at all). This disconnect is doing us more harm than we realize because if we do not have a relationship with the earth, the very place that sustains our very lives, then we won’t survive. And that die may already be cast, I’m afraid to say.
Ceres in Aries could also be the Great Goddess Herself having a resurrection. If this is the case, it may not be pretty. She may have hit the point where she has found her own inner fire and will start saying to us all: “Enough is Enough!” (children!) The human hubris of the past 3000 years or so, the great experiment in dominator cultures is ending, and we will be getting our report cards soon and I expect we’ll be seeing mostly “F”s. The era of thinking we can dominate one another, the weather, the earth, the animals etc without consequence is ended. But sadly, no one in Washington, London, or Beijing for that matter, seems to have gotten the memo. There is a reckoning coming (or call it a re-balancing or “healing” if that is easier to take in) and sadly, I think most of us don’t have a clue how we will cope or what it will cost… certainly the Tea Baggers don’t.
I’ve just heard about something else that I hope you and Gary will cover some time soon, though, with the current news frenzy that is getting whipped up, this may get lost in the mix…and this is the question I have for both of you: is it true that Regulus is changing constellations this November? Is it true that the “Heart of the Lion” will now technically be in the constellation of Virgo, as of late November 2011? If so, I find that to be a most profound resonance pattern with the Ceres move into Aries…and that could signal HOPE on a very real scale if it is true. The idea that the biggest star presence in the constellation of the Lion could be shifting into an earth sign, another manifestation of the Ceres/Demeter/Gaia archetype, could have profound significance for our little corner of the Galaxy.
I’d love to hear your comments on this.

I felt so sad at times listening to your podcast today, Eric and Gary. I’ve been trying to deal with my anger and grief regarding the events of 9/11 and what I see as the subsequent misuse of my son’s military service. I crave light to be shed on these events. I remember a report about Rupert Murdoch’s irrational fear of Muslims. Maybe he has good reason to fear if he played any part in setting them up as the fall guys for 9/11.
I relate to your loneliness, Eric, with your journalistic suspicions and willingness to write and discuss them. I have talked with only a few people myself about my convictions about 9/11 and my resentment that 9/11 led to the misused of my son’s and his fellow service people’s service to our country. In fact, my husband just walked in here and heard you say 9/11 truth and walked right out again rolling his eyes. So many would rather not know. It is lonely! I started to write about it two Christmases ago now which has been helpful with lightening the weight of my grief and anger.
I know I’m too idealistic. I know my son is not the first and last service person whose life force has been misused in this way. But it’s evil. To put our children in harm’s way for a lie is evil. Period.
Loved hearing about Mrs. Ceres, however. She is such a mother! She never gives up on finding her daughter, but finally agrees to share her with Pluto, in mercy perhaps to her earthly children, but also to her daughter, who probably had a thing for that sexy Pluto and the low lighting in Hades! And don’t you think Persephone bloomed beautifully for her mother in the spring and bore fruit abundantly in the spring, summer and fall after all that wintertime fucking with Pluto? And now I hear Gary say that Ceres stationing retrograde was prominent in 65 when LBJ passed Medicare and Medicaid. Would love to hear more about those points when she does that every 23 years. I wonder if they are times of mercy and generosity as in 65, or Kali like rage some of the time in major pissed off housecleaning mode…hmmm…
I totally agree that we need to emphatically and relentlessly demand an accounting of what occurred at 9/11. I love the idea of a 9/11 Truth Movement. Does it already have a presence or is it just an idea at this point? There are so many questions, so much that is suspect. What happened to building 7? The plane vaporized when it hit the pentagon? hypnotic, I get your frustration. I’m sick of navel-gazing journalists who write about journalism, too. But this is different because it shows all of the cracks in the Murdock’s media empire. And it might all come crashing down on his head. It’s phenomenal, actually, that this huge multinational behemoth could implode due to greed and nastiness.
Hypnotic, it’s not really a story — it’s a revelation. The pain you describe has a healing point, and we are looking at it. The resolution of the struggle starts with awareness, and this is part of what we need to be aware of.
The Murdoch empire has made alot of money on so many people’s pain and grief, including, most recently, the parents of a murdered girl, as well as those of us who fought against the waste of lives and treasure in pursuit of an illegal war in Iraq.
This is not a tabloid story. It’s about a group of people who profited over the misery of millions in this country and beyond, and who need to be brought to justice. It’s all of us who need to get past what has happened, because we have been lied to on a massive scale.
for most of us peons in the world struggling to live, to overcome immense pain and struggle and to love, this story is as stupid and as mundane as the tabloid crap it turns itself on. imho is this news?
