These days are the last moments of the cardinal grand cross and grand water trine that has defined 2014 so far. If you recall, this pattern involved planets in all four cardinal signs (Uranus in Aries, Jupiter in Cancer, Mars in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn) and in all three water signs (Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune + Chiron in Pisces). These unusual patterns never last for long. This one lasted longer than most due to the fact that most of the elements are slow-movers — and Mars was retrograde, which means it made an extended eight-month stay in Libra, now about to end. And in one week, Jupiter moves on into Leo. So two of the most significant elements of the cross/trine pattern are taking up residence in new signs.
Before that happens, what we have this week is a kind of final redux of the whole pattern, though (as usual) in a new form. The mid-Cancer Sun is now taking the place of Jupiter in the pattern. Jupiter’s role was significant because it was part of the water trine and the cardinal cross — as is the Sun right now. Mars is still placed early enough in Libra to be holding up that end of the cardinal cross (though not for long), and we’re about to experience a Full Moon on July 12 that will energize the whole works.
What is different now is that we’ve had so much experience working with this energy that we might actually put it to productive use rather than just push back against it. The difference now is that all the inner planets are direct; eclipses are currently out of the way; and the energy binding the cross and the trine is the near-solstice Sun, pumping out a lot more energy than Jupiter ever could (particularly in the Northern Hemisphere, but anywhere it’s placed, the Sun, a star in the peak of its life, trumps any planet).
I recognize this has been a challenging year. I know many people have experienced delays, setbacks and sidetracks. This is the moment to catch up and/or make extra progress on your vision for what you wanted to be doing right about now. I have prepared two different sets of 12-sign readings to help you do just that. One is The Mars Effect, and the other is the 2014 Spring Report. Both will help you figure out what happened, and what you can do now.
I have been feeling the moon conjunct my natal Saturn like one anticipates going to the doctor for a series of painful exams. Resistance and weariness. As though the culmination of the year so far has been so busy and demanding that I feel a might soul tired. Yet the same conjunction also passed thru my natal Jupiter and Uranus in the 5th so I am still moving with practical deliberation in my house of love and creativity. Working hard to resist entitled whining. “Why aren’t things, relationships, events moving faster?” Fortunately my Gemini Moon kicks my ass to keep it funny even when I kvetch, existentially.
amanda & kosmic mind: yes, i’ve found that, particularly in the realm of inner healing work, this year has been fascinating in the way it has been moving forward — though it’s definitely the result of challenge and even crisis in recent years. if there’s been a delay in recent months, it seems to have been in focusing my vision for what’s next so that i can put the building blocks in place. i know i’ve been working with those building blocks all along, i’m just not quite sure they’re all really where they need to be. neptune dancing around my MC for what seems like forever is definitely a factor there…
Thanks for sharing that, Kosmic Mind. I can echo so many of your sentiments. Multiple healing crises, progress with the vision, excitement, wonder and gratitude. And although I currently feel like I’m stuck in a bout of inertia, complete with flat affect and exhaustion (which has actually provided me space to reflect on the profound change that’s occurred just in the past two months), I think a lot of that is because my life has had SO much momentum this year, and the achievement of goals and amazing life changes seem to be happening so fast that…well, maybe I need this bout of inertia in order to catch up.
Learning to listen to my body’s signals and remember to rest, especially during times of such intense transformation, has been an incredible lesson. The other incredible lesson has been that of “radical commitment.” What an ride it’s been!
Thank you for this succinct summary, Eric. Quite a year it’s been indeed; though my life has been quite the opposite it seems. I’ve made so much progress this year, but perhaps it’s just a reversal of the energy that’s permeated my life up to this point. Like, for years it’s felt that I’ve been experiencing setbacks, which really culminated at the end of 2012 with a full blown healing crisis. This year, it seems all the pieces are coming back together again, and I feel more empowered than ever to really tackle my goals. But I really resonate with making progress with my vision, for sure. In fact, it just hit me recently, getting clear about where to go, getting excited about it. I think now is the time to really commit to something, go for it, and never look back.
ooops. . . sorry, Eris is at 23+ Aries not Libra./be
So grateful to know you think this time round the energy might be productive. It’s been a one step forward, two steps behind pattern for so long now I’ve forgotten what it feels like to be caught up. Oh wait, I’ve NEVER been caught up!
This full moon is a Super Moon too, since it is closer to the Earth (perigee), so extra emotional, extra stormy weather (figuratively or otherwise) might result. But, like you say, we’ve had plenty of experience with this energy, meaning we are better prepared and know how to cope instead of flailing about helplessly.
Watching the Libra action develop for the last couple of months has been fascinating, and now with Mars, Ceres and Vesta all in the same degree (23+ Libra) at Full Moon and exactly opposite Eris at 23+ Libra, there’s the big plus of Venus at 22+ Gemini (conjunct U.S. Sibly Mars who is square U.S Sibly Neptune in Virgo) who will be playing pivot this month. Watching for much double talk as she sextiles Eris in Aries and trines Vesta, Ceres and Mars.
Maybe she’s just stalling for “time” while Saturn (time) in Scorpio sextiles Pallas (plans) in Virgo and they make a yod with Uranus (unexpected) in Aries about what to do with all those kids from Central America. Saturn seems to be preparing the emotional base via the grand water trine with Sun and Chiron, while Pallas looks to strategize with Moon (whom she trines)) in practical earth signs and then negotiate with Chiron whom she opposes.
The practical Full Moon in turn sextiles Chiron and they find an outlet, aka a point to form a yod for their combined energy, and that would be Pres. Obama’s descendant at 18+ Leo. Michelle Obama maybe? The Sabian Symbol for 18+ Leo seems to suggest a temporary fix: A HOUSEBOAT PARTY, or “temporary freedom from rigidly structured social behavior” (Dane Rudhyar’s book An Astrological Mandala). Rudhyar also says “. . . it implies a less conventional and more YOUTH-ORIENTED type of gathering. The houseboat brings an intimacy and a ‘bohemian’ (Uranus) character to the relationships between the participants . .” and gives us a key phrase of FREEDOM FROM SOCIAL RIGIDITY.
Well, what the hell, Michelle’s Neptune at 17+ Scorpio is just past a conjunction with transiting Saturn who will return to it again in August. Why not rent a day’am cruise ship for a month or so?

A challenging year for sure. This helps:
Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment.

July 12, 2014 Full Moon falls on a day known as 13 Qanil, or Rabbit (or more exactly translated as “semen”). We can have a super great time this week or we may meet somebody that is truly a spoiled rotten kid, crying and bitching about everything until he/she gets what they want. You could be pampered, or you may need your Pampers changed for you.
If you tell someone you are going to spoil them rotten, they may go on a date with you finally!
The big change begins two days earlier on 11 Death. Watch how this transformation develops carefully to take advantage on Saturday. Play in the forest Friday and let the juices simmer before diving in during the Full Moon Saturday!
The Mothership arrives Sunday, 1 Toj/Water, a day that influences the tides and asks for meaningful sacrifice, like giving up your own interests for a loved one’s sake.
If you find super pleasure coming into your life, remember to say thank you and live it up!!!
