You can trust that the truth will come out, and that you will both come to an agreement you can live with. But you will need to let reality develop gently, like a picture, treating everything as if it were negotiable. This is the whole point. Just about everything is negotiable, but when we treat people arbitrarily, we close our own minds to other possibilities. In particular, you need to remember that while possessiveness, jealousy and emotional attachment are like second nature to you, that does not make them natural.
