There’s an old expression that one must get it right the first time, but if that were true, very little would ever succeed. I do, however, suggest, that you get it right the second time and measure the extent to which your own self-doubt can cloud or interrupt the natural development of communication. It appears that you’ll learn from this particular mistake that it’s always a good idea to verify what you perceive with others involved in the situation who may have valuable input.
