Soundtrack for Wednesday

I was introduced to these two guitarists, Frank Vignola (lead) and Vinny Raniolo (rhythm) last June at the Rosendale Cafe in New York, when Eric’s dad took us to see them play. They’re phenomenal. Go see them if they ever play near you — but be warned: Vinny is a wicked flirt of the Gemini kind. – amanda

  1. Aaaahhhh. Nice. An instrumental version of “The Sound of Silence” (and it is singular, not plural)… somewhere between the original Simon and Garfunkel recording with one guitar (Paul Simon) and the ramped up orchestral version put together by the record label gurus. But, this one with Frank and Vinny has flamenco and classical guitar tones, with hints of jazz improv.

Thanks for the link. Paul Simon (and Simon and Garfunkel) – probably my favorite folk rock musician(s). Makes me want to get out my S&G “Wednesday Morning 3 A.M. cd and have a listen.

  2. Lovely! Thanks Amanda. Just what I needed to mellow out after a stressful day. The guitar is my favourite instrument of all. Played it for many years (and haven’t played it for almost as many..).
