New Planet Waves edition en route to our subscribers

New edition of Planet Waves covers the transit of Venus
New edition of Planet Waves covers the transit of Venus

It’s been a week of unusual astrology and a mix of usual and unusual personal events for many, but how will we know whether Tuesday’s transit of Venus counts as a cultural catalyst or a missed opportunity? Only hindsight will tell, though for now we can keep working with the transit’s energy to make conscious choices — and take actual action in our lives and in the world around us.

In this week’s premium subscriber issue of Planet Waves, Eric debriefs us on the Venus transit, gives an extra nudge regarding the themes we need to be noticing and working with, and reminds us that while it takes time to develop insights into changes, you only strengthen those muscles by using them from the get-go. You can get instant access to the whole issue — which includes post-Venus transit horoscopes for all 12 signs, plus astro-news briefs — by purchasing this issue individually here. You can also read it by signing up for a one-month free trial offer here, which will grace you with twice-weekly issues for the rest of this incredible month.

  1. dear eric & peeps,

so much to process these days, I’m staying as much in the moment as possible … more than anything I’m trying to be kind and gentle and patient with myself during this transition. I can feel the gentle spirit you have embedded into the astrology here and it is a balm to me. Thank you so much.

I hadn’t realized it until now that it was 2004 that I went borderline for this guy and life proceed to unravel in all kinds of ways … suppose I had to learn to love myself first, kindly, gently, patiently, before anyone else is going to want in on some of this girl.

thank you for modeling the language, helping me find the way home,
    mm.

  2. Pam, Good Point! I “assumed” that it “went without saying” that awareness goes hand in hand with intention. But you captured the spirit of the moment perfectly! This is a time when all must be said and laid out on the table for review. Thank you for grabbing the moment to remind me of this.

  3. aword I agree. But with Carrie too. We can’t just close our eyes and cross our fingers and hope for the best either. Open eyed intention

  4. Thanks Patty.

I won’t make fun of you saying something kind about Pat Robertson either; I think it is admirable.

The Law Of One, Practice Three: Love others. and. . .
The Law Of One, Practice Five: Service to others. “Through practicing self-love and loving others, no approval, worth or esteem issues come into question, as all is loved equally.”

  5. I’d guess that the gays and lesbians in the Mormon church are happy with this trend. I never thought I would see this attitude in my church either, but it is the younger ministers who’ve helped explain it to the older generation. Change is slow, but it happens. Even the laws of the land have changed. I wouldn’t call it flip-flopping. We grow, we change.

Look no further than the laws of cause and effect, giving and receiving, love and hate, to find the answers. There was a Pat Robertson law that I found to be nearly an absolute. Go ahead an make fun, I don’t care. I never watched his show but picked up a copy of one of his books about 20 years ago, out of curiosity because everyone was making fun of him. He said that every time Jesus uses the phrase “at hand” in the new testament, he is not referring to a time in the future. He is saying that it is now, in the present. The Kingdom of Heaven is ‘at hand’. Heaven isn’t some other place, it is right now, right here. I had seen the 5th dimension open in 1984. It was awe inspiring and amazing. I began reading about the spiritual. The way there is through the eyes of pure love.

To block the opening is easy – hate your parents, or your neighbors. Consider every negative word you say, and remember that it comes back at you 100 fold, cause and effect. It comes back at you with ferocity and teeth. If we can just learn this one thing, we can change the world.

  6. Eric: To say that the featured piece of today’s Subscribers Edition is insightful would not be enough. Only posterity will determine if it is prophetic, but it does have that potential. Better to say that it is a grounded appraisal that neither inflates nor marginalizes the value of the Venus transit experience. If even a few who read it end up better appreciating their own life and that of others, you will have done a special and powerful service. Thank you.

Carrie: Thank you for the informative perspective. Something to think about for sure. What would we do without you?

  7. In fact, the “official” policy of the Mormon church is against plural marriage yet the Utah law enforcement (most of whom are Mormon) know about those practicing it and choose to look the other way. I lived in Salt Lake in 1989 and was amazed at just how much the Mormon church permeates every aspect of life there and how often they turn a blind eye to things they officially disagree with.

Despite their official stance on including “people of color” the quorum of the twelve has no Black men.

“No member of the two highest governing bodies, the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, have ever been black. There has never been a black member of the general presidencies of the Relief Society, Young Women, Primary, Young Men, or Sunday School.” Wikipedia

Religions are often rife with flip-flops, pretense, and outright lies.

  8. Eric,

Sure; the various religious entities (churches) have reversed themselves so many times it isn’t funny. Of course they can reverse that. The Mormons reversed themselves on the plural marriage issue and on the Blacks as members issue. They were against drinking caffeinated drinks…until the church bought RC cola. Then it was “hot caffeinated drinks.” It isn’t that unusual for churches (or religions overall) to reverse themselves when it suits their purpose.

Many Christian churches reversed themselves on the issue of being rich. In my childhood, they preached “store up not your treasures on earth but in heaven.” Now they preach that God wants his servants to be prosperous (prosperity Christianity). Reverse, reverse, reverse. They do it all the time and people buy it because most people don’t want to have to think.

  9. Carrie, let’s think this through. I’ve been thinking about it since you first commented. I appreciate your critical eye.

First question — is that a position they could easily reverse?

  10. Eric thank you so much. You continue to provide more and more, deeper and wider. Thank you.

Great pix – really enjoy the one sent in by Sam.

Carrie, my take is this is an opportunity to “hold space” for Intent – and for that intent to be one of “goodness”. Bickering about old faults and hates won’t propel us up off this short runway. xo

  11. “Marisa Black, my friend and fellow writer for Dodson and Ross (and a recovering Mormon with a lot of interesting stories to tell), has been updating me on how Mormons in Salt Lake City are finally getting hip to the idea that it’s normal to be lesbian, gay or bisexual. First she sent me this video produced by students at Brigham Young University (scroll down a bit for the video). It takes nine minutes to watch and will convince you the world is changing. Then a little while later she sent this blog post, from Monday, about the Mormon church expressing what is in truth unprecedented and (to me) rather stunning tolerance, with its members marching in the pride parade. Mending divisions — whether cultural or those in your own psyche (they tend to mirror each other, by the way) — does not often happen overnight. Using whatever insights you’ve glimpsed this last week or two, see what you can allow or shepherd along these lines.”

I still say this smells like a campaign rat. What better way to get the LBGTQ voters to vote for a Mormon candidate for president than to suddenly extend a hand of friendship to them?

  12. Brilliant subscriber Friday edition, Eric!

Love that photo from NASA of the venus transit. Reminds me of the Judgment Tarot card with the phoenix like animal that was posted recently to planet waves.

We were lucky enough over here in the Middle East to see the Venus transit on the morning of the 6th. It was really spectacular!
