Dear Friend and Reader:
This week has the feeling of something coming to a head, or rather, finally coming to a head. This is in the form of Thursday’s conjunction of Mars and Saturn in Virgo. This aspect is about as double-edged as they get. Looked at one way, we have the chance to move a lot of stuck mental energy represented by Saturn in Virgo, which will be conjoined by Mars. Looked at another way, it’s a contentious, dramatic and explosive aspect, which can have unpredictable results.

Either way, the common metaphor is about being set free from something that is blocking progress, particularly and specifically those things we call mental blocks.
Note, this is the one and only conjunction of Mars and Saturn in Virgo for this 28-year cycle. It will have a strong influence on those born in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Most progress occurs on the level of ideas, and Virgo is where we find quite a few of those in astrology. The problem with Virgo is doubt. There is a constant self-critique that on one level seems virtuous, unless of course it wears down your organs and your spirit. It would be productive, if we could connect it to some form of action, including physical action. If ever there was astrology that said, “get out of your head,” this is it.
Think back to what you were pondering Sunday afternoon for some of what, specifically, you might want to get out of your head. How to do this might include three possible points of action: direct communication with those you need to say something to; making a decision; or acting on a decision.
I don’t suggest you fight for what is already yours. Skip the soft-shoe act. Say what you mean. Here are additional details from the week, prepared with the assistance of Genevieve Salerno and with the irreplaceable assistance of Serennu.com.
7 Monday: Moon is in Virgo. Venus is conjunct Eros, then it squares 1992QB1; Eros squares 1992 QB1, Sun square Atlantis. Considering the Venus setup, the question involves our feelings of love (Venus-Eros) and our relationship to “the edge” (QB1). What do we “let ourselves feel”? Do we allow ourselves to go past superficial sentiment and actually experience the movement of emotion? As regards Sun/Atlantis, I always consider major Atlantis aspects to involve reflection on the ethics of how we use technology.
8 Tuesday: Moon makes mutable T-square with Mercury and Pluto in the last degrees of signs. Moon enters Libra at 10:31 am EDT.
9 Wednesday: Cancer Sun opposes Jupiter in Capricorn, creating a sense of exaggeration or of contrast same basic thing). Note that we are under this effect before you decide that something is so huge it’s worth summoning an aircraft carrier group to your defense. Mars is very close to Saturn, which is going to increase the pressure. I suggest you calculate your actions rather than being reactive.
First quarter Moon. Moon squares Jupiter. Mercury conjunct Hades, which is likely to color our minds with images of dark intent. Beware of this; again, the astrology is volatile and overreacting could easily cause damage to yourself and those around you. I would post a specific warning to those who suffer from anxiety, depression or anger issues: be cool today, and stay out of needless conflict for the next 48 hours.
10 Thursday: Moon enters Scorpio at 11:23 pm EDT. Mercury in Gemini opposes Pluto in Sagittarius — a bit deep and dark; words will cut deep now. Mercury enters Cancer at 4:17 pm EDT, squaring the Aries Point. This is significant because Mercury has been in Gemini since May 3 — spending about 9 weeks in one of its home signs, and driving nearly everyone insane for at least a day or two. Moon in Scorpio sextile Pluto. Mars conjoins Saturn in Virgo, highlighting a struggle of desire, focus and effort. What do you want? What will you let yourself want? What is your real opinion, below the storm? Sun conjunct Varuna. Varuna is not really a minor planet; it is a major energy. We need to study the events on the days of these conjunctions to Varuna to get the feeling for what Varuna is about, but Varuna widens the scale of influence of any planet that contacts it.
11 Friday: Sun sextile Logos, suggesting the ability to think rationally and in a balanced way. This sounds calm after yesterday. Mercury on the Aries Point is square M87. Mars sextile Hidalgo — a rational approach to rebellion.
12 Saturday: Venus enters Leo. Mars in Virgo squares Pholus in Sagittarius. Mars/Pholus is (again) volatile. Beware that if you open the lid on certain issues, you may not be able to close it. So we have a point of no return. Plenty has already happened this week. I suggest you use the energy of Pholus to connect to events, beliefs and ideas that have their roots in the distant past, such as your grandparents and their parents.
13 Sunday: Moon enters Sagittarius at 11:50 am EDT. Sun square Eris. This last aspect is interesting, suggesting the need to take responsibility for our own internal differences in opinion. I think that after all that has shaken out this week, we may be feeling fragmented, and this is an aspect inviting us directly to heal that sense of being taken apart of being of many different opinions at once.
The truth is that beneath the surface you present to the world, you feel one way. And it is time to be real with yourself and others about that one way you feel about your own existence. True, deception is expedient. That does not make it helpful. I think, though, we need a much more realistic view about just what constitutes deception and self deception.
Yours & truly,
in Hawley, PA

Today’s Oracle takes us to Apr 13, 2007 – GEMINI – Weekly
Innovation and some unusual achievement are blazing in lights from your solar chart at the moment, and it’s an extended moment. Yet for all your drive and passion, I strongly urge you to keep a cool head and take every step based on a strategy. Clearly, reality will not quite match with the steps and plans you outline, but making clear plans will at least serve to get your mind going in a focused direction, as well as giving you a set of reference points by which you can orient. You have a few surprises ahead of you, and you’ll go a long way to making sure they’re pleasant ones by keeping focused and alert, particularly on your inner voice — the one that whispers.
Virgo conjunctions to me are saying we are looking at a big change in the way we handle earth energy. This weekend a farmer at the open market criticized another for spending 5,000 a month on gas from December through April, to heat greenhouses that produce ‘safe’ tomatoes at $3.50 a pound for people who think they MUST have fresh tomatoes. What is wrong with us?!? When did people stop eating only fresh food that was in season? What has the cost been to us? To the planet? The groceries carry fresh produce from all over the world – and we are dumb enough to buy it.
During my chiron/mars conjunction about 19 months ago, my hip replacement failed. I mean, I was merely standing and the hip dislocated and screw went through the femur. Was it something I did? Probably not within the immediate time of the first hip replacement, but rather a culmination of what I had been doing for 20-30 years that ended with a rather abrupt, in your face, forced change. I thought it was an awakening of sorts. Painful though
