Aries New Moon audio – the New Moon was Wednesday

Ladies, Gents

Here is your Wednesday blog, in audio format. This is free audio, and of course it’s sponsored by our subscribers, who make sure we pay the bills without selling out to corporate America. Rather, we are becoming corporate America — think of Planet Waves as the new face of the enlightened global media. No ads — and underwritten by our readers.

If you haven’t signed up yet, hello! Make the commitment. Why? Because you want to. Because you spend so much time on this website. Because you’ve always been grateful to others for subscribing: for sponsoring the “free” materials that you get here so dependably every day. I am inviting you to see how it feels to know that you are making a contribution to the work that happens in this space, and to experience some of the best astrology writing on the ‘Net that comes with a subscription.

Please note a couple of corrections: I stuck an “am” on the time of the New Moon in London. It’s really 1:29 pm BST/GMD, and 8:29 am EDT, and 5:29 am PDT. And just in case you live in Chisinau, here is a worldwide time zone converter — it’s got every zone in the world listed.

One other point I’m still researching — how do minor planets get their temporary designation? I reference this re. 1992 QB1. I’ll have that sorted out for you pretty soon. I am eager to find out and I know who to ask. Okay — Tracy has come up with the document. This explains how something gets called 1992 QB1 upon discovery.

If you have questions, please drop them into the comments box below.

  1. Though I am not an astrologer, I do enjoy your weekly updates on the actual movements of planets, and yes the minor planets in the sky. But, the explanation at the end about subscription and your alternate business model was excellent. I do not have anything but empirical evidence, but this model is being used beyond the “not for profit” world, and my notably optimistic gut tells me that it is growing. May it prosper! And, if someone reads this and is not a subscriber — please subscribe. This was my first absolute non-essential purchase I renewed after emerging from the other side of an economic crisis. If you like the free material you see here, you will really benefit from the subscription material. And thank you, everyone at Planet Waves.

  2. Fyi, I don’t have any problems with the volume – I only needed one or two bars of volume. It seemed to default to this, but you might want to check that you have the volume up on the audio page itself – sits underneath the main controls (ie play etc).

  3. I haven’t heard that complaint…I try to record as high as i can on digital, right below clipping…I suggest checking your system volume and seeing if there’s not a second way to increase it and I will ask anatoly if he can boost it in the future………thanks for the headsup

  4. this is sort of a technical question but does anyone else find the volume to be very low on these audio recordings? it’s so quiet on my computer compared to other clips! apologies if it is user error in some form but thought i’d ask…

Female sailors had sex with “predatory” male colleagues onboard a navy ship at the centre of sleaze and bullying allegations in order to avoid further harassment, their one-time commander says.

Commanding Officer Simon Brown says he became aware of a catalogue of kinky misdemeanours and a culture of booze-fuelled coercion among sailors during his time in charge of the supply vessel HMAS Success.

Speaking at an independent inquiry into the conduct, Cmdr Brown said it became apparent female officers had “bounties” placed on their heads by males jostling to sleep with them.

Following a series of other allegations, including sex on the ship’s mess deck and a public sex act in a Chinese bar by two HMAS Success sailors on Anzac Day shore leave, he said several senior female crew members asked for a meeting.

They made it clear that a predatory culture, fuelled by alcohol, existed on the ship, particularly in its engineering department, Cmdr Brown said.

  6. Hi Eric,

A random contribution – it occurred to me that you might find this interesting – the third (I think) inquiry into allegations that male sailors on the HMAS Success (an Australian navy supply ship) ran a “book” on their female shipmates and other allegations of harassment. This is a link to a quick search I did on the name of the ship in the Sydney Morning Herald website – will give you a bit of a flavour if you are interested in it.

It has made for some very funny headlines. One about “sex crazed sailors” caused a friend of mine to go home complaining to her navy husband that she didn’t think she was getting her fair share!!

I have followed it in a very vague way only so you will know far more about it than me before long.
