  1. what really blows me away reading the article is that our civil rights were far more curtailed during W’s “reign” than during this first year of obama’s presidency, yet none of the people protesting the “unfair” health care reform, etc seem to be talking about the offenses to the constitution posed by the so-called “patriot act.”

and they chose to protest on the anniversary of the battles of lexington and concord, commemorated by the “Patriots’ Day” holiday in Massachusetts and Maine, calling themselves patriots. we have some dangerously confused people in our midst.

at least the gun-wielding protesters didn’t choose kenmore square for their protest: mixing it up with the boston marathon runners, watchers, imbibers, and red sox fans (they always play a home game on the holiday) would have spelled chaos and disaster for sure…

  2. These gun nuts piss me off! You want ammunition, a**whole? Do like the Founding Fathers you’re so enamored with did and make it yourself!

You can have all the fucking bullets you want, you just have to make them yourself! Oh, you don’t know how to make bullets? Too bad.

  3. Thank you, Fe. Helen’s a keeper! Ditto and amen. This is shaping up as a psychic assault on reason. The character of the American people is being pulled into a vortex of the lowest common denominator. It’s as if the Cosmo’s want to see if we have grown or if we will cower back into our earliest tribal distinctions. My money is on enlightenment and the decency that is seeded in the majority of us, but watching all this is just painful.

The Baggers are 18% and mostly Republican, being exploited by radical GOP’ers who think they can ride the wave. We need to remember that and put the whole of this in proportion. In a group of any five people, there is likely to be one that you have nothing to say to, since they don’t have the mental/emotional software to process it. The gun-carriers are MOST of the GOP and here, in the Pea Patch, I wouldn’t have any luck in finding ONE in five to discuss this with rationally.

While I’m betting on the scales eventually tipping over into rationality, this level of vitriol is disturbing and I don’t think we dare take our eye off this thing. If Chomsky can say, from his historical perspective, that he’s never seen its like … we need to stay on top of it.

  4. OK, this deserves a little tip from my favorite girl Helen Philpott:

We survived Bush. You’ll survive Obama.

Margaret, please tell Howard that I love him because he loves you. But that is about all the reaching across the aisle that I can handle. A few years back, millions of people across this nation and across the globe marched for peace. George Bush ignored us and we had to endure his lazy ass being in the White House for eight years.

So now a black man named Barack Obama, elected by the will of the people, has decided to fight for the poor, and work for world peace… and a bunch of white guys who think Fox really is News just can’t stand it.

Well, they can kiss my ass because I am tired of their belly aching.

This is exactly how our political system works. Sometimes your party is in and sometimes it is out. Your party is currently out. So shut the hell up and deal with it.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m all for a group of disgruntled citizens banding together to form a third political party because they don’t feel represented by the other two. But let’s be honest – this bunch of idiots doesn’t like that a black man is the most powerful man on the globe. I wonder if they know that, while 78% of the world is not white, only 13% of the United States is black. So they can relax. Barack and Michelle most likely will not be buying the house next door.

Tea Party members should listen up. As long as Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann are your torchbearers, you don’t have much credibility with me. One echoes between the ears and the other is 12 shy of a dozen. You honestly want me to think that your biggest issue is the cost of healthcare reform? You sat idly by while Bush squandered billions on a failed war, but all children having health insurance is too much to handle? That’s your beef? You realize, of course, that some of those children are white, don’t you?

Please. You might not be wearing hoods, but your misspelled signs are one step shy of a burning cross. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Trust me. It’s going to be eight long years for you Tea Party members. But we survived Bush and you’ll survive Obama. I mean it. Really.
