Acting Locally

This morning, my friend Dominick asked me to come out and photograph a meeting of a Kingston city commission on something called the Pike Plan. This is a silly name for those really cute sidewalk overhangs that you see in pictures I post of the city, which are an enormous point of controversy. They are adorable and quaint, but not an authentic part of Victorian buildings. Many people love them but to renovate them may cost as much as $3 million when the city only has half that much for all of its urban renawal-type projects. So in the spirit of getting there on time, I’ll be updating a little later in the morning.

We’re about to publish our alternative monthly horoscope to subscribers. This is one of my semi-obscure horoscope columns, published down in Australia. I have an interesting topic for Friday’s edition in the works, looking at the themes associated with Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius, which are about to make a conjunction next month — some of the biggest astrological news since Pluto went across the Galactic Core.

Catch you later.

  1. Reminds me of the annual Christmas picture growing up: everyone, smile at the same time; dressed in our picture-taking clothes, our cracks and grey smudges can’t be seen in the warm glow of the Christmas lights!
