Several thousand people thronged the state Capitol lawn [last night], to protest the treatment of two female lawmakers who were barred from speaking on the House floor last Thursday following an emotional debate over abortion.
They heard a recitation by the two lawmakers and others of The Vagina Monologues.
The performance, kicked off by the work’s author Eve Ensler who flew in from California for the occasion, was the culmination of five days of reaction to the decision by House Republican leaders to issue one-day revocations of the right of state Reps. Lisa Brown, D-West Bloomfield, and Barb Byrum, D-Onondaga , to speak on the House floor.
They said the discipline was in response to incivility displayed by the two representatives a day earlier during a debate over legislation to impose new restrictions on abortion clinics. Brown said she was punished for using the word vagina.
Hahaha “I Didn’t Come From Your Rib. You Came From My Vagina.”

Yes, but… Now what???
We’ve had the fifteen seconds of fame on this, to the point where even the local media at least briefly mentioned the anti-abortion bill – but no particulars regarding the bill. We get brief sound bites (not more than two sentences, not more than two syllables) but not the necessary information. We especially don’t get any real information MSM.
This imbroglio in the Michigan legislature is but more diversion from what is really happening. Snyder makes Walker look like an amateur in many ways. The MI legislature can spend days on this, while the Emergency Financial Manager law strips voters of their rights and Snyder skulks off to the north (or south if he is in Detroit) to cut a side deal with the Canadians to build another bridge to Canada. Never mind that the MI legislature voted that down. I guess instead they have to be concerned with vaginas and eradicating women’s rights. Can’t address the issue of fracking. Haggled over possible legislation outlawing spice/K2 until backed into a corner by local law enforcement and municipalities passing ordinances against the substance.
So, now what???
What do we DO in the face of the onslaught from all sides against our civil rights, our constitutional rights, our human rights? Not to mention the rape and pillage of our planet, the poison in our food, air, water…

This is awesome. I love the in-your-face peaceful protests that have been springing up around these issues, like the slut walks etc.
And on facebook, the word is that during the Vagina Monologues, an Oscar Meyer Weinermobile drove by. I cannot confirm that though so I think it is just a rumor.
