Today is Friday, Oct. 28, 2011. The Moon begins the day in Scorpio, ingressing Sagittarius at 10:45 am EDT. It stays in that fire sign most of the weekend and connects with the Galactic Core, which hangs out at 26 degrees Sagittarius, at 5:48 am EDT Sunday. Could we ask for two more fitting signs than Scorpio and Sagittarius for the Moon to be in this weekend? Scorpio brings the ‘dark and deep’ to get us in the mood for Halloween/Samhain (pronounced sah-wen); then the Moon conjunct the GC opens up the cosmic spiritual channel as the veil between worlds thins. The Moon then enters Capricorn Sunday Oct. 30, at 12:38 pm EDT.
There are still some tense aspects in the air. Mercury in Scorpio is about to make a square to Mars in Leo today, and that has been brewing all week. This is a caution against being angry at yourself, and in particular, about letting that anger get snagged on an emotional level.
Mercury square Mars also says: work out your mental blocks. Most people’s self-denial of the sex they want is a head-trip. It’s possible to get caught in maintaining the illusion of self-image, or some idea that prevents you from even expressing what you want. Sometimes there is an apparent conflict between two desires. Note the level on which this is all a mind game. Work it out; use analysis. Be honest with yourself first. Remember that ‘what people think’ usually verges on meaningless (or is a figment of your imagination), and what you think is the most meaningful thing to you.
Also today, Jupiter in Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn. How often do we see a Pluto aspect and release a sigh of relief? Well, Isabel Hickey calls this one, “a wonderful blending of the extrovertedness and optimism of Jupiter with the caution and subtlety of Pluto.” It carries vitality, insight and perhaps a touch of the metaphysical – perfect for this time of year, when more people than usual get curious about the spirits of the dead and all things occult. Let yourself get enthusiastic, but keep your expectations realistic.
