Last days of the Sun in Aries, Mercury on the Aries Point

These are the last few days of the Sun in Aries (it enters Taurus Thursday at 12:12 pm EDT), just as Mercury has re-entered this first sign of the zodiac. In a sense, these two bodies are working the same themes from opposite ends of the same sign: the unexpected, stepping forward, personal/political, and change.

We’ll start with Mercury. It was recently retrograde and is still working out of the echo (or shadow) phase, which ends April 23 in high style — with Mercury in an exact conjunction to Uranus.

Mercury currently on the Aries Point (the first degree of Aries) is spurring our minds, calling us to conceive of ourselves within the greater context of all the changes in the world around us. Mercury in these first degrees of Aries is approaching both Uranus (by conjunction) and Pluto (by square), which are forming the locomotive of revolution and evolution shaping this phase of history. The square is exact for the first of seven times in June. When a fast moving planet like Mercury comes along, however, we can pick up a signal about where the much larger historic process is headed — and where our individual lives might intersect it.

Therefore, listen for messages from ‘the world’ and from your inner world. This is the third and final pass Mercury will make through this region of the zodiac this year. On its first leg through the territory, we referred to Mercury conjunct Uranus as “looking like a bright idea” — a spontaneous one that needs some grounding. What sprang to mind for you around March 5 and March 18? A third spark may come this weekend, with the third conjunction on Earth Day. Goddess knows this planet of ours could use some more bright ideas aimed its care –- let’s see what lights up. The Sun in Taurus should help with the grounding, but you will still have to work with any ideas consciously. Collectively taking care of our home shouldn’t come as a surprising act, but at this point, it would be a welcome one.
