Today is Tuesday, December 20, 2011. The Moon enters Scorpio at about 5:33 am EST. It adds another layer of emotional sensitivity to today’s aspects and these introspective days of the solstice. This is a week to prepare your space, both inner and outer, psychological and literal. It is time to prepare yourself to go out into the world again – though not quite yet time to make the actual move.
Two planets are changing sign today: Vesta enters Pisces at about 2:42 am EST, and Venus enters Aquarius at 1:26 pm EST. Vesta, having just come off its conjunction to Neptune in late Aquarius, is carrying that intuitive, creative energy forward. Named after the goddess of the hearth (where a home’s fire is kept burning), Vesta is preparing the way for Neptune’s homecoming to the sign it rules, tending to the core passion of Pisces and warming it up.
On a practical level, this translates to a call to define your space – especially when it comes to creativity and sex. Whether this means lighting candles or rearranging your bedroom, moving your writing desk so you can look out the window or getting clear on what experiences you want to invite into your life, think about how to align inner and outer. Then do it. Vesta in Pisces may indicate some form of sexual surrender. So at the most fundamental level, especially where sex is concerned, make sure your yes means yes and your no means no.
This urge to align inner and outer gets a boost from the Sun today, as well. Fresh from its conjunction with the Galactic Center yesterday, today it is sextile Neptune. This is the last major aspect the Sun will make to Neptune in Aquarius, and we will not live see another one. Consider for a moment how we’ve been affected by this phase of Neptune: Most people now carry a tiny computer or two on them at all times, in addition to the ones in their homes and offices. Could anyone have imagined this in the late 1990s when Neptune first entered Aquarius?
For now though, we have the opportunity to connect the deep-soul message we’ve just received via the Sun-GC to our outer drive and imagination (Sun-Neptune) — but we still need to observe the stillness of the solstice to access it. With Vesta running vanguard, you can channel this integration of insight, spiritual fire and creativity into however you choose to prepare and define your space.
As you do so, both within and without, you are simply preparing yourself for this next season. Just after Vesta enters Pisces, it makes a conjunction to Chiron. This solstice, we are being called within perhaps even more strongly than ever to tend to our own healing – and, as our recent encounters with other centaur planets have revealed, the healing of generational wounds. Keep working with the material that came up for you during the eclipses; the tools are at hand and, ultimately, to do so is a form of tending your inner hearth – that central space within yourself where your soul’s fire burns. Healing shame, guilt and desire takes devotion, and it requires us to make space for that. Everything from simply acknowledging pain and anger, to committing time and resources to working with a therapist or healer, counts as ‘making space’ for the healing process.
Now, what about Venus, which is just now entering Aquarius – and making a square to Jupiter (which is about to station direct in Taurus)? At the most basic level, Venus-Jupiter is a caution about overdoing it: overspending, overeating, over-imbibing. That pretty much describes the standard holiday operating procedure, doesn’t it? Consider yourself warned, and armed (or blessed) with other options for directing your energy. Watch that you don’t confuse living beyond your means (Venus-Jupiter) with true generosity of spirit (Sun-GC).
We need to take time to assimilate our recent experiences. Heed the solstice — this last month has been intense and deep, and we are still integrating everything as Mercury re-covers its ground in Sagittarius.
We have an opportunity to step outside the box, to be different, to live an inspired life – and we are supported in this extraordinary opportunity with strength, compassion, and a Piscean message that there is something beyond a life lived in fear and limitation. Jupiter stationing direct at the end of the week offers us endless possibilities of becoming bigger than we believe ourselves to be. We just need to prepare, define and hold that healing space for ourselves as we move through the solstice.

Thank you Weekly Astrology. I especially like this sentence: “Watch that you don’t confuse living beyond your means (Venus-Jupiter) with true generosity of spirit (Sun-GC).” That these two aspects come at the same time seems fortuitous in itself and puts me to mind of the many reports of annonymous Santas paying off lay-away debts for families just in time for Christmas. Perhaps by working together, these two aspects (and even others), are taking the sting out of the square. Perhaps the gentle Venus squaring the slumbering giant Jupiter in Taurus (generosity not so automatic a response here) has inspired this old-fashioned method of charity. However, I myself will have to bite my tongue when offered a second piece of pecan pie.. . . waaay too much love!

And thanks for another wonderful photo, Amanda. You should make a winter calendar out of this lovely collection of photos, or a winter book… (better get back to work – so not in the mood..).
Yes. Patti and Jinspace said it all. I’ve finally been able to turn and really face my fear – and in doing so I’ve seen that my life has always been ruled by fear – that it’s not just about the fear of being able to survive financially, as I had believed, it’s fear of life itself (so tough on the poor old kidneys/adrenal glands!). You talk about the ‘healing of generational wounds’ – my parents are two frightened people – as are my siblings. Perhaps I can shift that family dynamic a little. Much love and thanks to you guys.xxx
This is simply excellent, accurate and so very wise. I have been through the emotional wringer these past few weeks, going over and over some very painful truths, having to learn to live with them or, where possible, figure out how to fix them. I knew it meant creating – returning to – a healthier, more loving and creative space. It’s been the how that has eluded me, and suddenly over the weekend this massive, thick cloud just lifted and vanished, revealing solutions, lightening head, heart and spirit.
Thanks for a great post 🙂
A fantastic and really moving summary of the ‘vibe’ of the last few weeks and where it has taken us. I agree it has been really intense and I’m consciously trying to honor that sacred space (a tough task in the run up to the ‘orrible ‘olidays) and assimilate it all. Being out in nature – even if it is freezing seems to work best for me. I can think of at least three people, whom I dearly love, who I wish would read this and really take he message to heart – but won’t. Not everyone wants their candle lit, I guess. Peace and warm hearths to all at PW…Px
