Today is Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011. The Moon is in Aries all day. The big news is Venus ingressing Libra at about 11:40 pm EDT. This puts one of our most influential personal planets back in a sign it rules. It also puts Venus into contact with the Aries Point, square Pluto and opposite Uranus.
Venus in its own sign brings power and importance to the concepts of beauty, taste, harmony, diplomacy and balance. Anything vulgar, unbalanced or out of place will stick out like a sore thumb. For the next month pay special attention to the way you are dressed and mind your manners and social graces.
This is not the same as being fake; this is a reminder to think about how you prefer to be treated, and then extend that to others. This is always good advice, as is remembering to extend a little loving kindness toward yourself as well. But neglecting to do so could have stronger consequences this month. So put people first. Make them feel comfortable, important and respected and you may find them more likely to respond in kind.
Venus is still invisible, but rapidly gathering steam toward her re-emergence later this month. For the Mesopotamians, this stage of Venus’ cycle was like the stage where Inanna had been stripped of her power, died and reborn, and was about to return to re-claim her throne. When she found her husband Dumuzi busy with the process of governing, rather than mourning her, she became enraged and sent him to take her place in the Underworld.
So, this Venus is very powerful, having been through the process of initiation and purification, and not to be trifled with. It’s important to understand how to work with the energy of Venus in a way that others will be receptive to. You don’t have to limit your own sense of power, but it would be wise to engage others in a way that shows you see and value their worth, experience, insight and presence in your life. Staying focused on the spiritual/unseen dimension (rather than the material) are currently the ways to work with things Venusian, since the planet is still invisible. By focusing on the spiritual we can align more closely with the pure inner essence of the ‘other’ and plant the seeds of relationship intentions. Those will then manifest over the next seven months as Venus moves toward greatest brightness.
In the theme of values, Mercury trine Jupiter today is about getting past, and re-programming, any mental blockages or preconceived notions that have been limiting our access to material resources, especially around not having enough time for something. If we choose to keep an open mind and suspend judgment, the solution will often make itself apparent; likewise if we choose to ‘make time’ for something we value, then we will often find we have more time than we thought.
As mentioned, the Moon moves through mid-Aries today, which puts it briefly opposite the Juno-Saturn conjunction that is forming. Pay particular attention to any pull you feel toward keeping score and any amplified emotions with that. Keep Venus’ message in mind as you feel your way to a shift in perspective and attitude that allows you to see some balance and extend a little loving diplomacy rather than getting stuck in self-righteousness.
Lastly — and speaking of diplomacy — Mars in late Cancer is opposing Pallas Athene in late Capricorn. This may feel like a standoff between body/instinct versus mind, or desire versus understanding. Or said another way, blunt emotional force comes up against strategy and tradition. It may be up to the person (or the part of yourself) represented by Pallas to weigh any Mars-like behavior (or urges), and either ignore it, negotiate or stand firm as is suitable. Again, keep the message of Venus in mind, whether you’re negotiating with another or yourself, and you will likely keep things moving productively and with minimal bruising of egos.

Hey Carrie, Thanks for the link to The Shift. I heard about this a couple of years ago. Thrive ~which won’t be released until Nov. 11~ is a little different: Its focus is not peace, but energy and why the free or renewable-energy economy has a) been suppressed and b) is part of a larger, paradigmatic shift. (aha)
We all have a different sense of what is at the bottom of this mess. I personally think that the kind of energy with which we run our lives has a huge impact on our sense of well-being and integrity, and the resulting cognitive dissonance or integrity affects everything downstream. I once rented out the B side of a house that was run entirely on renewables. Over several years I watched as my renters’ karmic loads lightened and virtually disappeared when daily activities were no longer contributing so egregiously to the planetary burden.
Where Thrive goes into the slippery zone is its focus on UFOs. We’ll see how that element makes its way into the collective mind. I’ve only had one encounter — on a dark road while driving to Narbonne Plage in the south of France, and I am still not sure what that was.
What’s for sure is that people need to be able to explain to themselves and grasp some framework about this transition, and it looks like Thrive will provide something tangible, workable.
We’ll see on Nov. 11, no?

Synchronicity…anyone?
Thank you x
Hey kids… thank you so much for this summary. I esp. appreciate the opportunity to examine and recalibrate the question of ‘time’ and the feeling of insufficiency. Many years ago I discovered –and then forgot– that the feeling of time-crunch only comes with a life out of rhythm with its calling. Do what you are created to do here and lo! you stop consuming time and instead become the source of it.
This period of Venus/Inanna-emergent is going along just fine with my shifting up to my creative work, and so far Mars-in-Cancer has been a source of energy *and* modulation, in much the same way that a flywheel harvests energy from a brake.
My old friend Adam worked with Foster Gamble to produce this documentary – to be released on Nov. 11. (Adam is the white-haired guy sitting next to the torus.) Please tune in… http://www.thrivemovement.com/
All love,
