Free, clear and warming up: Mercury direct, Sun approaching GC

Today is Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Hopefully you’re feeling a noticeable reduction in any tension, mental fuzziness and miscommunication now that Mercury has righted itself in early Sagittarius and is moving forward again. Mercury stationing direct can come with surprisingly obvious and sudden indicators – like someone mentions a crucial detail (as in, ‘the truth’), that missing email (or your car keys or a memory) finally turns up, or your car immediately stops making that disconcerting noise. Even if you have not noticed anything that striking, hopefully you will have a sense of increasing clarity as the day and the next few weeks progress.

In one sense, the whole sky is lending a sense of momentary calm, transits to your natal chart notwithstanding (and they may be asking for your attention in challenging ways). But without looking at the slew of obscure minor planets, pretty much the only major body making new aspects that are exact today is the Leo Moon. There are other aspects getting close and some just past their peak; we may be feeling both. But to some degree, we have kind of an ‘everything void of course’ day – and it’s fitting. We’ve just come through a series of thresholds in rapid succession – all focused on a sign known for going deep and far. Congratulations for riding the wave to where you are now – seriously. Now with Mercury finally direct, we have this day that’s a bit like an open field, and we’re kind of standing on its edge, still getting our bearings and remembering how to breathe.

The aspects that the Leo Moon is making are pretty interesting – and they actually serve to connect the phase we just went through to the next one approaching. The Moon makes a fire trine to the North Node in Sagittarius and a simultaneous sextile to the South Node in Gemini; on its way there it opposes Pallas Athene in Aquarius. On the surface, this looks like some level of strategizing how to work with the karmic/dharmic (consequences/right action) insights you’ve just come to, versus how you feel about how they make you look to others. In other words, the lessons of the eclipses and Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius were about your inner journey; the Leo Moon making these aspects is aware of how you present your new self to the world and how it feels to do so.

The Moon is like a huge satellite dish that is informing the individual ego. Just three hours after Mercury switched directions last night, the Moon made a trine to it. That flow of energy between the two is now being carried forward by the Moon as it makes these Sagittarian links via the trine to the North Node (and the Great Attractor) and sextile to the South Node. Early tomorrow, it will move on to trine the Sun – which is only a few degrees and a few days away from its annual conjunction with the core of our galaxy. The Moon is starting to pick up that distant signal of the Galactic Core, the presumed original birthplace of every speck, cell and supernova known to us. One message the Moon is receiving is: The world and your world are bigger than you may think.

Mercury is getting the same message as ‘the Moon’ — in a slightly different way (the Moon doesn’t get a message, we get it, through an emotional or intuitive resonance). As Mercury slowly gets back up to speed and the Sun closes in on the GC, listen carefully to this message coming through. The signal is going to increase over the next few days and the energy we feel is going to heat up, but in a new way. No need to run out and buy an asbestos suit -– this heat won’t incinerate you. Just adjust your antennae and use today to home in on your inner signal as Mercury begins retracing its path and unfolding its new understanding.

  1. Was glad to hear of a little respite from all the cosmic action til I got to the exception being the Leo moon. As my moon is in Leo, found this interesting. I actually felt kind of self conscious in groups today, sort of introspective and withdrawn.
Been wanting to join the PW writers but still heavily bombarded by centaurs, cosmic debrie and dust, not to mention all the comets and meteors flashing by…and the Great Attractor on my ascendent with mercury and the sun traveling thru, backward and forward and all manner of oppositions and constant squares.
Somebody told me about a country song that says if you find yourself in hell, just keep on walking before the devil notices you’re there. Not that it’s been hellish lately, actually more heavenish but more than anything just non-stop! Feel like I’m flying a spaceship navigating my way through light years and galaxies.
In the meantime, getting more and more involved and awfully close to actual activism with Occupy, something I’d normally shy away from…It makes me nervous!
About to, reluctantly, do some traveling the next three weeks. I’d rather burrow in at home. Maybe it’s the Uranus transit on my 4th house, just when I start to settle in…whoops, time to disrupt the routines yet again!

  2. This is sooooo right on. I actually woke up feeling better today after the last couple of weeks – noticeably better, clearer, unburdened – like a huge weight has been lifted and nothing has really changed in terms of all the s__t I am dealing with – just seems less like a crisis now. Like I just passed go on the Monopoly Board, collected my $200 and now I can actually buy that property I had my eye on.

Somewhere between Judith Gale’s Pea Patch, Fe Bongolan’s “Fromme finesses Freedom from…. and Freedom to….” and BKoehler’s Homeopathic Laser Analysis of “Newts, Toads, Wannabbees and Wooden Bees…..” is the most potent American Social and Political Commentary that I have read in many a year!

Like Bill Evans Trio playing “It ain’t what you do…It’s the way that you do it….!!

Here he is with Miles Davis … “Blue in Green”

12 months…and they will all be doing it!!
