Weekend Astrology: Don’t act cool, be cool

Today is Friday, Nov. 18, 2011. Today is the last quarter Moon, which is when the waning Moon makes a square to the Sun — in this case, from Leo to Scorpio. You may notice that issues that surfaced with the Full Moon encounter a turning point now. The Moon then enters Virgo just before 5:19 pm EST this evening, and continues through that sign until Monday evening, when it enters Libra. A waning Virgo Moon, especially over a weekend, is a perfect time to dive into organizing and cleaning your home (and other areas of your life), especially if there are items whose time it is to leave your possession. That said, the sky is still dominated by fiery energy, and lots of nervous mutable energy. The message coming through is strong: cool off.

This will be easier said than done, but one of the blind spots indicted by the Sun squaring Neptune is not knowing how hard we’re pushing, or whether we’re even on track. The asteroid Ophelia, conjunct the Sun, is telling us to watch our emotional reactions. And today the Moon is opposite Neptune, so the quarter Moon is a T-square that includes Leo (the Moon), Scorpio (the Sun) and Aquarius (Neptune, which has just stationed direct).

If you add one of the ultra-slow moving hypothetical planets, Admetos in Taurus, you get a grand cross in the late fixed signs. Admetos adds energy that, in the words of Arlene Kramer, “feels steadfast, stable, immovable.” She adds the following themes: “Shrinking. Narrowing down to a sharp focus. Specialization. Endurance. The glyph for Admetos shows an affinity for the sign Taurus and must be drawn with a base line to show the Admetos capacity to be steadfast, stable, and immovable.”

Tension arises from the powerful mutable energy in the sky at the same time, particularly painted in the broad strokes of belief indicated by Sagittarius. We’ve been talking lately about this two-track reality: the mutable energy involving the Great Attractor, the personal planets and the centaurs; and the Sun-Neptune square that is rising like floodwaters and is fogging things over, coming from the fixed signs. The presence of Admetos suggests that viewpoints, concepts, opinions and ideas are even more fixed and inflexible than they seem on the surface.

Seeing through the apparent conflict or clashing energies will take some discernment, and that means going a little more slowly and a little more deeply than we usually go. The sensation of rushing may be an emotional hedge against wanting to think too much. But Mars in Virgo is saying slow down and think about it. Calm your mind and focus. Belief is not enough. It’s not enough to ensure being right, and it’s not enough to ensure that you’re seeing the whole picture.

Mercury slowing down also tells us to slow down and focus. The closer we get to its station retrograde on Nov. 24, the more presence of mind we’ll need when speaking, listening and moving. Spell things out for people; don’t assume you are understood – or that the message was received at all; pay attention when you leave the house and walk down the stairs so you don’t forget your keys or miss a step; curb your daydreams while you’re driving. There are many ways the universe can get our attention, and as Len pointed out this week, we’re in a span of time when something old may be asking for our attention for the last time. That may happen with a bit more force than usual if there’s a matter we’ve repeatedly ignored over the years. Let the mutable fire prepare you for action, but remember to stop and ask yourself what it is you still need to learn, what perspective you’ve not yet considered.

I’m not sure what I need to learn except acceptance and willingness to take responsibility for my choices whatever the outcomes. I’ve chosen recently to stake my disabled and quite ill sister in a quasi-assisted-living situation that she desperately needs for her health. So far this entails going into debt about $10,000, so far, and maybe $12,000-$15,000 by the time I’m done and then I will still be contributing to the difference between her income and ability to pay the monthly bill at her new setting. My brothers and other sister and I stand at the ready to contribute, but no one of us can carry the whole thing. Between all four of us, I think we can pull it off for our sister on a monthly basis. But still it’s scary! She may be able to reimburse me if I am able to sell her RV. I am hoping to do better and be able to give her the change on a good sale. I feel like putting her RV up on ebay with a minimum bid and financing options for a month and seeing what the universe is willing to provide.

I think it will sell. But it might not sell for enough. This is where acceptance, willingness and responsibility come in. I can tell by my anxiety level that I am close to my limit financially. I am working on staying calm, projecting positively, and cultivating the willingness to accept responsibility no matter what the outcome may be. Wish us luck PlanetWaves people!!

  2. So much you give in so little space! Thank you All for the strength in these reminders; in this information.

This moment in today’s article stood out for me “The sensation of rushing may be an emotional hedge against wanting to think too much.” I have been slowing down more and more over the past 12 years as the world around seems to speed up – indeed it is where I find myself rushing or moving too quickly with inbred patterns or habits – that still needs attention; vision; alteration; discernment; shift.

This I have learned here recently – Chyron says “heal yourself” and what are the tools that are needed for healing? Attention, vision, alteration, discernment, shift. Thank you PW.

  3. And once again, I thank all you wonderful guys (which means Len, too!) for your precious words of wisdom, your warmth and care and love – which guide us all through challenging, difficult but also amazing times. xxxx

  4. Well, thanks for the cite. Most of all, please accept my thanks for putting the living breath into Admetos. Finally, thanks for so eloquently bringing so many threads together.
