This Week’s Astrology: Make Haste, but Slowly

Protester dressed like a penny on the pedestrian walkway of the Brooklyn Bridge during Saturday's takeover of the bridge by the Occupy Wall Street campaign. About 700 people were arrested on the Brooklyn-bound traffic lanes. This picture was taken on the pedestrian walkway, something not to miss if you're ever in New York City. It is all much larger than it looks. Photo by Attila Racz for Planet Waves.

Today is Monday, Oct. 3, 2011. I suggest you work with a game plan this week. The aspects suggest working toward one conscious goal, even though much else is happening.

Today’s Mars-Jupiter square may have you in the mood to make your point and make it with passion. Just be aware that others may not be in the same zesty frame of mind as you are. Likewise, if you’re feeling on the introspective side, note that others around you may be picking up on this assertive aspect and taking it out for a run. Mars-Jupiter in this setup is the picture of proselytizing energy. Make sure you get the word in before you get the word out, and if you encounter anyone trying to convert you to something, you might want to give them a wide berth. That said, you’re the one who might decide that it’s time to change your mind about something you’ve been pondering for a while, and you’re free to do so.

Overnight Sunday to Monday, the Moon moved from Sagittarius to Capricorn. This puts us in quarter-Moon phase, building toward the Oct. 11 Full Moon. Before the exact first quarter, however, the Moon will make a square to Uranus and a conjunction to Pluto. This is the kind of astrology that could be inspiring if you have nothing special to do, or could be frustrating if you have a clear agenda. So keep your focus while remaining flexible. Be mindful not to let small stuff get you in a bad mood — just keep going. The day has a ‘you make your own luck’ feeling to it.

Definitely check the traffic and transit reports before leaving the house, and the weather too, while you’re at it. Take a moment before leaving for work and make sure you remember everything you need to be prepared for the day. It’s just the kind of morning you could leave your cell phone on your end table. You could also solve some great riddle you’ve been pondering forever, or invent something.

First quarter Moon is exact Monday at 11:15 pm EDT. That has the feeling of momentum shifting. It’s a moment of focus where you get to re-orient on your goals and objectives. Don’t forget to take a moment to do that Monday evening. Then, overnight Monday and into the next two days, the Moon will square lots of planets and points that are on the Aries-Libra axis, starting with the Sun, then Mercury, Saturn, the Black Moon Lilith, Eris, Juno and Venus. In a sentence, this translates to: stay clear with women. Stay clear means steer clear of competitive vibes, don’t stoke them, but rather tap the wisdom of the shadow side. That’s another way of saying own your guilt, your love, your pleasure: your existence.

Don’t go tit for tat. Make a little joke and make your escape. Or keep the conversation on a civilized, adult level, as much as you can in our world of siblings. An issue that may have come up over the weekend could raise its head again early in the week. Choose the time for the conversation; that is to say, have any discussion of emotional matters at an appropriate time. It’s fair to let business and basic necessity come first. Discussions of emotional material go better without anything in the way or adding pressure.

The week builds toward a conjunction between Mercury and Saturn in Libra on Thursday. This looks like a productive meeting, goal or development of some kind, but the vibe is clarity and focus. Prepare well for what you have to do this week. Don’t rush your long term goals. As Sally Brompton said so aptly in the Pisces horoscope for Sunday, “The better a job you make of it the less likely it is you will have to do it again. Make haste, but slowly.”

  1. Truly incredible photo posted with today’s horoscope . . . composition, color, content, mood, perspective. A holograph for sure. Thanks!

  2. I have a difficult meeting this Thursday which has the potential to sour. You have pretty much given the all clear, if I do the work in progress. A lawyer could never have given this type of assurance. Thank you so much!
