The Moon, which entered Sagittarius a few minutes before 8:30 pm last night, makes contact with a slew of planets in the first half of the mutable signs over the next 24-plus hours (and then even more the next day). As it plucks each planet’s string like some cosmic guitar, the tones will continue resonating as the next is plucked, shifting your emotional tones and blending them at the same time into counterpoint and harmony. The Moon is playing a song in the key of mutable today.

In general, a Sagittarius Moon imparts a desire to feel free to roam, a friendly optimism, a philosophical or spiritual (not dogmatic) flavor, and a touch of restlessness. Here are a few of the dynamics and phrasings you might hear today, relatively in order:
The Moon immediately opposes Black Moon Lilith in very early Gemini just before 3:00 am EDT. Are you feeling an urge to travel toward your more shadowy feminine nature to explore a little? You may notice a couple sides to that coin, and both may feel at odds with ‘what your mother always told you’ about ‘good girls’. And what is a ‘good girl’, anyway? That question is ripe for deconstruction with a solid dose of sexual honesty in our society.
Which is perfect, because at nearly the same time, the Moon squares Chiron in Pisces. If the questions and darker implications (or sense of ‘cast-off-ness’) of Moon-BML are very troubling for you, the tension of a square from Chiron is going to push you from within to seek some healing resolution. Document your dreams this morning, and if you have access to a creative outlet, channel the energy while it’s still hot. Moon-Chiron right now is fire to water; can you use the steam as a power source? This is Pisces we’re talking about; some focused sexual exploration (by yourself or with another) is an option.
As if to underscore the heat and the relationship themes, the Moon next makes simultaneous conjunctions to Mars and Juno in Sagittarius. The conjunction to Mars is technically exact first, at 9:41 am, but you’ll likely feel it sooner along with Juno. This one may get tricky. If you’re athletic, don’t be surprised if you get the urge to run around or play. Hard. And at a moment’s notice. This intense combination of male and female principles could fuel tempers.
With Juno right there, can you feel a way to channel that into a social justice crusade, rather than any jealous hiccups? Sagittarius is giving Juno a more magnanimous flavor than usual. Compersion (an ability to want to see others succeed and enjoy, whether sexually or platonically) might be a viable option today if any buttons Mars pushes are not completely buried in your subconscious.
Finally, the Moon enters the mutable T-square formed by Jupiter in Gemini, Venus in Virgo and Pholus in Sagittarius. This heats up later this evening, with the Moon’s exact opposition of Jupiter touching things off at 10:32 pm EDT. Please refer back to yesterday’s Daily Astrology post for a refresher of this — although the T-square is separating as Venus moves along.
With the Moon added in, any encounters with arrogance or excess in others could be especially stressful, in particular where affections are concerned. Moon-Venus could bring out mother-daughter issues. Pholus is ready and waiting to translate seeds of emotions into full-blown gardens. Whether your garden is full of weeds or fruit depends on how you tend it.
Technically Moon-Pholus is not exact until the wee hours of Friday morning EDT. But since Pholus is flanked by a cohort of minor planets that have been hanging out in mid-Sadge for a while, your emotional harmonies could bend into a minor key or feel dissonant — and they’re likely to be in tune with wider social matters. Some notes you might hear: ‘going beyond’; ‘assessing personal boundaries’; ‘self-inflicted injury’; ‘the cry of the poor’; ‘what do you do with second chances’; or a sense of emotional and philosophical chaos.
Whew — that’s a lot. And it’s only the major (and some of the more well-known minor) planets in mutable signs; there are more. We might have to upgrade this lunar guitar tune to a full-blown symphony. Either way, I trust you’ll be singing along. Remember, the Moon moves along quickly, so you need not be stuck anywhere emotionally uncomfortable for too long — and by Friday night, the Galactic Center beams in some grace notes.
Opposing BML after dancing on the heads of all my natal Liliths in first house. No wonder I am exhausted. Lilith is activated and I am not listening!
Thank you Amanda! You power is showing, and it is beautiful!
“the Moon squares Chiron in Pisces. Aha! So that’s what’s going on… Thanks for this fantastic report, Amanda – so helpful.
I received a text at 1 am this morning from a Sadge guy who is travelling outback (Aust). We both have Mars in Sadge to the exact degree and his Venus conjuncts my sun.
A penny for his thoughts. wow!
Thank you Amanda
