Wednesday: Psyche trines Eris and asks: “Who’s Bad?!”

Dear Friend and Reader,

Before I get into what this aspect is all about, I’m going to give you a chance to read this article I found while scouring the net for interesting news. Here it is, an article about a vicar who was a little too pro-sex for her congregation. In case you didn’t know (I didn’t) a vicar is a person who acts as the priest of a parish when there is no rector. ‘Vicar’ is also another way to say substitute, although you probably wouldn’t say something like: “Equal: the sugar vicar”.

Anyways, this woman has been asked to leave the Church of England for reasons that, given the culture of the Church, are pretty obvious. However, the language of this article and some of the quotes given seem to illustrate a kind of mind-control that I feel it is my duty as an astrologer to bring to your attention. Psyche’s relationship to the perception of a wound, or a psychic, inner pain can be thought of sometimes as a subtle thorn, the shadow of pain. Check out the portion of the article below:

“Rev. Davies tried to bed Alan when she was wearing her church robes at the VICARAGE. She took him and Claire to a windowless room called ‘the den’—which had a sofa, two pictures of JESUS on the walls, a computer and the webcam. Mick suggested they have a foursome. Claire said: ‘Tess was very keen. But I just couldn’t do it because there were pictures of Jesus looking down everywhere. It didn’t seem right.’ ”

The words written in caps are taken directly from the article: I didn’t add anything to it. What is the aim of presenting the information in this manner? Can it be to further drive home the point that Christianity does not mix with sexuality? Can you find any evidence of mind-control in this paragraph? Is this woman being ostracized because of her sexual “deviancy” (and I use the term as a playful mischief), or because she worked for the Church, or because of the combination? Scandalization is a form of propaganda.

Eris is the cast away woman in astrology. In mythology, she is the woman who was not invited to the wedding. There are connotations of aggression, of a struggle to be, of rebellion in the energy of Eris.

Even though this article was printed on November 29, I find the story to be very evocative of the energy of Psyche trine Eris, the aspect that is occuring today. Again, Psyche is the head, the impression of the wound, the psychic ache. It can be construed to mean a hurt that is not there anymore, or curiosity. If you take those two energies and put them together in a trine, two things come to mind: one that it is possible, or rather viewed in a positive way, to receive pressure about what is right and what is not right.

In other words, Psyche can be the victim of peer pressure, or an “or else” mentality, reading the paper about the Eris down the street and feeling shame about her own perceived transgressions. Or you have the trine which suggests an openness to curiosity, and the hunger to explore the veil of shame which seems to hang over the sexual taboos that steer us on our backs or bellies depending upon the situation in order to become more complete, to make something happen.

After all, at the wedding feast of the Gods and Goddesses, it wasn’t the guests present who ended up being the most active, but rather the one who was absent.

See you in the “grope box.”

Merry Met,

Genevieve

  1. Heh, heh. A grope box: now that sounds interesting…

News Of The World sure seems to be emphasizing how “bad” this all is with their use of CAPITAL letters. Too bad their editorial mindset is so badly skewed towards seeing something nasty in all this. And yes, sex and Christ are being stigmatized here. How boringly old-fashioned this all seems.

Of course, the couple involved didn’t seem to have anything wrong about having sex with the Rev, just the holy presence in the church. If they’d been at (a) home, what then? Nothing the public needs to know about.

When will we ever learn? Sigh.
