A more prudent approach would be to take the role of investigator, and ask polite questions. Feisty as you’re feeling, you’re also an information magnet right now, and in actual fact you do need information, particularly of a financial nature. Though you may fear a reversal of fortunes, nothing of the sort will affect you in the long run if you focus on acquiring the knowledge you need. That will put you into receptive mode, wherein you won’t be so shocked if someone writes you a check.
