Weekend Astrology: One Thing Leads to Another

Today is the first quarter Moon, which is when the Sun and Moon form a right angle to each other from our perspective here on Earth. In this case, that is happening from Cancer (Moon) to Aries (Sun). It’s a time to take stock of whatever you may have initiated during last week’s New Moon in Aries and gently guide it forward.

This is a natural turning point, which will be accentuated Friday by the Moon’s square to Uranus and opposition to Pluto. If you’re feeling any inner tension, that is the signal to get a little perspective on where it’s coming from and then use it as leverage if you have any decisions to make.

One reason to be gentle with this forward movement is that Mercury finally stations direct next week, on Wednesday, April 4. This means that Sunday into Monday begins the ‘storm’ phase of Mercury retrograde, which happens toward either end of the cycle.

It’s a time when potentially mixed signals – and the reactions that ensue – can be especially tricky to navigate. Mercury is in late Pisces for this station direct, so the watery storm metaphor is especially apt. Keep your ears open for intuitive messages, though you you might want to pause on taking any irreversible action on important matters prior to the station direct Wednesday morning. Action would include speaking in anger or making promises you’re not sure you can keep.

Mars slowing down to its station direct on April 13 is another reason to delay making critical decisions. After these planets station you will have more perspective. Emotions could easily interfere with your sense of perspective, so take things one slow step at a time.

Meantime, Venus ingresses Gemini Tuesday, opening up the earliest phase of its retrograde cycle. When Venus arrives in its new sign it’ll make squares to Neptune and then to Chiron — these are challenging aspects calling for a mindful approach to your feelings (as so many aspects seem to be saying lately). Venus square Neptune leans toward idealism, while Venus square Chiron can use intense pleasure (particularly sexual) as a way to cover hurt feelings.

This will work for a while, though sooner or later you’ll have to get to the bottom of things — it may as well be sooner.

  1. Hugging Scorpio ditto. thank you. i was thinking. Did I come across as a manhater too. Didn’t mean to!

  2. Pam, HS – thank you for this beautiful exchange. “The more I allow, the more I get to see and feel” Yes!

  3. Pam, I see and hear you too my friend. 🙂 I grew up with a father who was very disrespectful of my mother’s boundaries and of women in general. So I really know what you mean.
Thank you for writing with me.
    Hugs!

  4. And duality. Not sure. tho with Neptune in Pisces I see sometimes, with a sort of wonderment, within and beyond duality there is light (love?) that has no duality, that imbues everything. Both duality and nonduality. And then quite stuck situations can just melt as tho they never were.

Mind you you’ll note that I’m still stuck in my everyday stuckness, but I glimpse the possiblity, and wonder if such freeing up can manifest everywhere.

  5. Hi HS. Yes I see and hear you. What I have understood (perhaps inadequately) from Willow’s writing is that she finds life rawer than she would prefer, but steps up to the plate anyway. As for many women there is a feeling (for me) of too often being embattled and our boundaries not recognised/respected. Men often who don’t seem able to hear or understand. Precious things/feelings relationships trashed or disregarded or trampled on, how precious life is, how deep, look at all the abuse from individual situations through to corporate not giving a d***. I don’t mind her rawness (a diamond in the rough?! Amazing clarity for someone in their ?20’s) but I can see I would feel hurt when such comments were directed at me.

Until a couple of years ago I would have said that women’s lib was sorted, and then with saturn in virgo I saw that it is not necessarily so, that some men some of the time are really still in the dark ages and when it happens to you (rather than someone else) you are gobsmacked. For me it was like the dwarves in ‘the last battle’ if you have ever read that by CS Lewis (a children’s book). And then what do you do. First of all you can’t believe your eyes, then it is a long haul, either to get yourself out of the scenario or to work through it, to find a foot hold in it. I imagine she knows these sorts of things.

I used to think I would never be scruffy, never ‘let myself go’ (ie weight appearance etc), never shriek. And I have done all these things. A decade ago I met a woman I found truly awful. And now I can map all her worries, frustrations, angers, what she has given too much and where. I understand (and regrettably am them too to some extent).

I’m interrupted again so will send this

    xxxp

  6. Pam, thanks for all the health tips! I will check out!

…and about Willow, yeah, some articles were very well written and I enjoyed her site for a time. But I found it awkward to have her baggage mixed in with with an interpretation of Astrology that we all process and experience uniquely. And in reading her material, I felt alienated by how she chose to define certain terms re spirituality and healing, esp with regard to men and Maleness. She wrote to me that I lived in a world of dualistic thinking and that she did not. That spiritual men have “new age” thinking which create “shitbag” behaviors which hamper our progress to a new way of experiencing relationships. That if we don’t do our “work” during certain transits, then we are somehow damned later (referring to Saturn in Libra moving into Scorpio). It’s all a bit too much really. As long as we are living on this planet, we experience life in duality. And what’s more, we never stop doing our “work”. Saturn is not going to punish the “shitbag” men once it goes into Scorpio simply because we didn’t “get it” in Libra. And just because Mars goes direct in Virgo and beyond, doesn’t mean we somehow get a green card to brag about how much “work” we did and to necessarily reap any future rewards. Life is on going evolution and healing. And to have people call me creepy because I have a brain and chose to stand up to that mentality? Hey, its her site, she can write whatever she wants. I make my own choices. I choose to allow the energy of a planet to help me gain awareness on my life in this moment. The more I allow, the more I get to see and feel. The more honest I am with myself in the process, the more my future will be filled with the same integrity. The more I embrace gratitude and humility, the more I feel at home in the abundance of a loving Universe.

Again, just my view. I’m not telling anyone to do anything. Love you guys all! 🙂

  7. Hugging, I am glad you are feeling better.
I went and read some of Willow’s stuff and I like some of it but I can see where her anger about men is in there and I also do not like man-bashing. I like men; bashing them is just not my thing. At least Eric lets dissenting comments stay.

Len, I liked the joke too. :::smile:::

Lyd, Thanks for mentioning Astrotabletalk. I will check that out.

  8. Good luck Susyc! Sounds like a spot on approach to the situation. If they want to play funny games – you play along with them. And have faith that things will work out as they should.

  9. Definitely got a mixed message today. A lady called me about my interview and wanted to make sure that I was sure I wanted to have it. Interesting, as everything had gone straightforwardly up until her phone call this afternoon. It sounded like she was having second thoughts about having offered me the interview for the particular position, but wasn’t willing to say that she was withdrawing the interview. Hmmm….confusing. She pointed out a few “ifs, ands, and buts” to me which I answered to the best of my ability and then gave me an interview question to answer which she then said would be the first one given to me at the interview we have scheduled on Monday. Should I have taken the hint and backed out? I don’t see why I should whether they offer the job to me or not. Interviewing can be its own reward just for the practice it provides. I’m in a “let’s just see where this goes” mood, and if I’m willing to spend time on it, what’s the big deal? I have been honest about everything so far and if their sorting process leaves a bit to be desired that’s not my problem or my responsibility.

  10. HS I don’t know if you know horizonherbs.com that Jere recommended here but they have lots of medicinal herb seed if you wanted to grow your own herbs (praps you do already). I’ve been reading this week about how chimps eat 50% fruit and 40ish percent greens and that this is a good diet whizzed up in the vitamix with water: that way you get all the fibre which cleans and the vitamins etc which restore.

Had to take a couple of chickens elsewhere before, back now: I found Willow very astute and kind. i know she can be ascerbic too

  11. thanks Huffy! Feeling almost 100% I stay away from antibiotics so it was a longer haul! 🙂
    Thanks too Lyd and Pam.
    HugS

  12. Hugging Scorpio – She probably read them tho and assuming they were constructive! (even if challenging) praps that’s enough.

  13. Thank you all – I was thinking of readings I’ve had from time to time too, to acknowledge just CS seemed too narrow.

  14. Love the first quarter moon. For some reason I always end up in the spice cupboard, sorting and tossing!

Pam: Your post, me thinks, can resonate with many. I’m sure all of us who post at PW have other related sites we visit, depending on our curiosity, mood, how a person strings the words together, that for us, have meaning.

HS and Huffy: Yes, there is gold to be found on Willow’s site, although I find myself jumping around trying to find that little something! She makes no apologies for her style or her outrage and I give her credit for that. Probably one of the reasons I visit (not regularly) is we were born in the same province in Canada and her take on Canadian issues is quite astute.

So, I’ll add my two favorites that sit alongside PW: Phil Sedgwick and Dharmaruci at Astrotabletalk.

  15. Thank you for the “just for fun” photograph. Please allow me to offer a small joke in the same spirit:

“Diner: Do you serve crab here?

Waiter: We serve anybody, please have a seat.”

Hey, the crab thought it was funny.

  16. Many thanks to Daily Astrology for a thoughtful piece that leaves those of us who read and heed in good shape for the weekend.

  17. Hi Hugging,
So glad you’ve got your health back. Willow’s caustic and scathing at times – and can really lay into men – so I understand why you’ve been put off. I’ve been put off myself. But I have to say that some of her astrology writing is pure gold.

  18. Pam, I would never interfere with researching other perspectives. I only offer my input that I have stopped reading Willow’s material. For myself, her views are consistently negative and leans toward a type of man-bashing I find uncomfortable (I found it rare to be inspired by her insights). It is also very one sided and controlled so that people comments corroborate her views. I made several balanced comments mildly challenging her and they were never published. Comments by others calling me “a creep” and “entitled Male” were published without effort to moderate a balanced exchange – they were in fact encouraged. So I’ve found it to be toxic in a veil of attempted awareness – with that awareness getting lost when the end goal is a destination full of barriers and blockages, and then of course ultimately Fear. Fear which is emboldened by empowerment is a dangerous energy.
So again, only my opinion but one that I wanted to share.
    Very warmly,
    Hugging Scorpio

  19. Can’t find the oracle for today at this point so am gate crashing here!

The other week I mentioned Christeen Skinner, and since then tho it was inpassing feel it important to acknowledge the wonderful astrologers of all sorts on these pages, and more personally, Melanied Reinhart and Tracy Delaney and Willow who have also pointed the way for me at different times.

    Thank you

  20. Tricky. Let’s go then. And just get to the bottom of it. I actually have nothing to lose. (I mean, I do have shit to lose. Which means something to me. But it doesn’t mean more than what I might gain in brighter space. It’s not important… Not in that important way. On the other hand, my shit can be a haven when needed … And how do you measure that? And why would you want to let go of space that offers succour?

    We shall see.

  21. Trickster On the Storm?

OK, now my brain will accept that sentence!
