I am rarely up early, except for mornings we publish the Planet Waves subscriber issues. But Tuesday, I attempted to take Len’s advice to see the sunrise on or near the vernal equinox. I missed sunrise by about an hour and a half, but still caught beautiful morning light and got into a photo-taking groove for the first time in a couple months.
The bridge I was on is old and precarious, and stepping on the railroad ties needs to be done with care — or, at least, the relaxed confidence of youth, as a guy in his late teens or early 20s demonstrated. It was only my second time attempting the old wood and steel, and I have yet to venture out to the end, where it looks like the ties are more deteriorated (or missing in spots). The center of the bridge, which is a swing drawbridge, is permanently swung perpendicular to the ends; there is no crossing to the other side by that route. One must turn back, find the parallel trail, and cross the water.
It’s rather like the astrology now: with Mars and Mercury retrograde, Mercury heading into Pisces and Mars talking to Chiron there as well, we’re not quite crossing straight into the adventure of spring 2012. We’re being asked to turn back, turn in and negotiate the waters by a new means. Then, we can continue on to where we’re going.

thank you all — glad you appreciated the photo and post!
Amanda, Great photo! I love the geometric shapes of the pieces: the flat, round shape/space of the washer (an even platform to spread the load/weight); the square nut (the “type” of load/weight?) holding the bolt in place, with its spiral turns upward.
I, too, am delighted that your photo groove is back, and like the grooves in the spirals on the bolt, heading upward.
Thanks for the ending paragraph that succinctly sums up the current astrology, and of course, thanks for the photo. Another to print and hang by the computer, and perhaps to put in a Soul Collage or Treasure Map.

I almost missed seeing this entry! I’m so glad I didn’t.
lovely
Amanda:
Feeling the joy of anticipation to see more results now that you have your photography groove back. Beautiful meditation, thank you.
I LOVE this photo!
Speaking of Merc Retro Amanda, my wi-fi blinked before I could post compliments–FIRST–on your concise summary of what these multi-faceted aspects mean for us in personal terms. Kudos! 😉
“We’re being asked to turn back, turn in and negotiate the waters by a new means. Then, we can continue on to where we’re going.”
Oh, that’s good. Thank you. 🙂
Helps, especially today when I feel like it’s a stereotypical technological- and communication-fubar’ed Mercury Retrograde. *sigh*
It is as it is. It can’t always be everything all at once, all the time. There is time for everything, and you are always exactly where you need to be, otherwise you wouldn’t be there in the first place.
“We’re being asked to turn back, turn in and negotiate the waters by a new means. Then, we can continue on to where we’re going.”
I love that analogy, and your beautiful photograph, Amanda.
Although today what it said to me was, “Screw dat shit!” 🙂
