You can expect your mental landscape to zing and your emotional waters to bubble this week, along with a beautiful opportunity to ground everything so you don’t feel off center. On the roster: Mercury conjunct Uranus in Aries; the ingress of Venus into Taurus; and finally on Thursday, the Virgo Full Moon.

The Moon — currently in Leo, as of Sunday — is waxing toward the full phase. Because the Sun is in Pisces, the Moon-Sun opposition (also called a Full Moon) will be in Virgo. That will happen Thursday at 4:39 am EST. As with most Full Moons, this translates into a culmination of energy and possibly tension, since it is an opposition of the Sun and Moon. It’s the Moon phase when our emotions and interpersonal situations can tend to feel the most polarized, like we’re at opposite ends of any given situation or emotional spectrum, and we’re pulling whatever material is connecting us to each other into some tension. But this can be useful; the Full Moon is a time to resolve situations that seemed stuck. It can be a great creative time, though many have some difficulty sleeping with all the vibes in the air.
Currently, retrograde Mars in Virgo is just a little past its opposition with the Pisces Sun, and the Virgo Moon conjoins Virgo Mars the day before the Full Moon. So Mars is in the mix, adding some edge and heat to the buildup this week. Be aware in the next few days of any tendency to turn on yourself if your emotions get the better of you. Watch out for that strange thing called ‘passive aggression’, which is really veiled aggression. Judging yourself won’t get you anywhere productive, though one way you might know you’re doing that is if you’re angry at others (that’s the nature of an opposition — we can see the obstacle as being outside of ourselves).
Noticing the tendency to judgment, anger or projection (should these arise) and taking time to follow it in to its roots could yield some useful information. It could reveal ways you may be prone to cutting yourself off from full emotional expression and self-understanding. This lunation blends the mental realm of Virgo with the emotional realm of Pisces. They’re not as different as we think, especially now.
Also note that this Full Moon is square the centaur planet Pholus, which is in Sagittarius. Pholus, the second centaur ever discovered (that was in January 1992, a little over 20 years ago) is a reactive energy. It can feel like a pressure release, or a situation where one thing leads to the next and you get a runaway reaction of some kind.
It’s also associated directly with alcohol. In this setup it is a reminder to leave the alcoholics be, to go easy on the fire water and to be extra careful not to mix alcohol with operating machines (such as cars, chain saws, flame throwers and so on). If someone is drunk and plans to drive, don’t get in the car. This event is also a testing point for the meanings of Pholus, which is a relatively new discovery. Aspects from the Sun (and especially the Sun and Moon together) will often bring out a minor planet’s nature and we can make some new discoveries. Let’s watch what happens along these themes this week to see how accurately they play out. One of Pholus’ key phrases is “small cause, big effect,” so that’s another potential relationship between events to observe.
Today Mercury, which ingressed Aries on Friday, is exactly conjunct Uranus. This is an aspect that can speed perception and intuition –- a really great aspect for coming up with great ideas. It can also be de-centering for anyone whose mental stability is compromised. Watch for any ‘contrary’ impulses, since Mercury-Uranus also wants to feel free and independent and can be a bit militant in its thinking. But despite that, this is a pioneering placement, rich in innovation.
Interestingly, this happens close to Super Tuesday, a day with a lot of Republican primary elections (not the bastion of inventiveness but they sure have been weird and they may get weirder yet). When you combine these impulses and these events with the Full Moon’s polarization effect, it’s a signal to count to ten before you launch into ‘belligerent mode’ –- and while you’re at it, be ready to recognize that the bright ideas of others are just as valuable as your own. (That said, with Mars retrograde in Virgo, it’s just as important to acknowledge that your spontaneous ideas are just as valuable too, rather than succumbing to any perfectionist streaks.) Keep your notebook handy. That’s always a good idea, but it’s an especially good idea now.
Perhaps most fun about Mercury conjunct Uranus is that this is the first of three such contacts we’ll experience in the next few weeks. Mercury is well into its shadow/echo phase, going over ground it will cover again after stationing retrograde March 12, and then a third time after it stations direct again in April. You’ll get three chances in total to evolve your bright ideas –- and really great ideas often come to us in layers.
If all of this activity sounds rather charged up, take heart in Venus. Today the planet named after the goddess of love is leaving Aries (sign of its detriment, ruled by its archetypal opposite, Mars) and coming home to Taurus, a sign Venus rules. Venus in Taurus can also emphasize emotions, but has a strong affinity for expressing and receiving these feelings through physical and sensual responses. In other words, if you start getting caught up in the mental sparks of Mercury-Uranus or the emotional tug-o-war of the Full Moon, try grounding yourself in your body and beauty. Remember what’s the most important to you. Be grateful for who you are and what you have.
Engaging any of the five senses will feel good and be centering; combining several senses in one experience is even better. Think of things like cooking or baking (touch, smell, taste, sight); dancing to live music (hearing, sight, touch); walking in the woods or near water (hearing, sight, smell); really great sex (with another or yourself; touch, hearing, sight, smell, taste). The idea is immersion in what is directly in your presence until you feel completely present — and loved.
We’ll be back with more about Venus in Taurus (an interesting placement for sure) tomorrow.
The Capricorn and Aquarius birthday reports are available. Pisces will be available soon!
And thanks for your lovely company in the forest!
Huffy, I’m so glad you shared! I was wondering about your breakthrough. Thanks for that. Something more to chew on for our common path through the dark forest…
Think Venus in Taurus is kicking in…!
Great stuff, JK! This morning when I woke up – and asked for help, I got this: that i’m still trying to play by the rules of an ego-based, pushy, male oriented world – and while I have to play by the rules cos that’s the world I live in – at the same time, it’s not going to work for me if I keep trying to fit into a box that’s really not my shape, that I’m just pushing against a wall that’s not going to give, and that I have to trust the path I’ve been following for many years now. Carolyn Myss calls it unplugging ones spirit from the need for human law and order, and plugging it into the divine (or something like that). It’s a radical change of perception. xxx
Huffy and CaraSu, I don’t at the moment recall much about my Chiron return (1 Capricorn) which was exact 12/21/2001, but I can tell you that Tr Chiron is conjunct my North Node, and when I was looking it up today: smack – it’s exact today!! Ooo whee!! Guess I’d better go reread last week’s postings on the north node, and remember what the hell happened in late 2001.
With Chiron retrograde from mid-June until mid-November, I/we get two more passes at this transit through early Pisces. I can hear the Centaur commanding “HEAL!!”

Yes – you’re right – and so positive too. Ciao bella! xx
A lot of us here probably have that same transit of Chiron in Pisces. It will be interesting to see how this works itself out on us. I know Eric and company have been addressing that in the Aq birthday report as well as in all the current PW postings lately, since it will be with us for a few years yet. I guess we will be quite illuminated by then 🙂 Ciao bella
Thanks JannK and CS! I’m so grateful too for your posts. So good to have companions on this path – which feels pretty rocky and steep right now. No Venus in Taurus in relief for me (which I was looking forward to so much!), and I’ve just discovered that I have Chiron return – and my natal Chiron’s in Pisces, plus Virgo in Mars – which probably explains all the ‘woundedness’ coming up right now.
CS. I found this in the Aisling dream dictionary, which you might find helpful: “Dreams (about sex) can also include members of the family in sexual roles with the dreamer. Here the intent is to use an existing loving relationship as a pull to seduce the dreamer into having sex, and therefore accept the healing the dream is offering”. Good luck with it gals!
Light shines! Thanks for the explanation and the link, which I hope to listen to this morning.
Looks like I am in the middle of a similar process, so hopefully more illumination is on its way. Here’s another morsel on the same subject. Not having ever been sexually abused, I’ve started having sex dreams about my dad (yuck), and think it’s related to this very topic somehow. Anybody have any good insights on this sort of thing? I am curious, and do plan to discuss with my healing person this week at our appointment. Despite the weirdness, it seems like it’s coming from an important place…
“Zing and bubble!”, indeed. Huffy, thanks ever so much for your experiences, as well a the summary of the wounded male in women. (I haven’t yet, but will later, listen to Eric’s podcast.) Your experiences and summary spoke volumes to me (though I am an only child) and I am finally facing just what was my relationship with my father. I have known that relationship, for me, was always seeking to get his attention and an open showing of his love for me. Much work to do.
Just when I think that a PW posting has nothing to do with me (hah!!), the wise comments here rope me back in, and hold the mirror up. Thanks. I am humbled and grateful.

Me again – and me wounded males! I did a google search on Chiron – wounded male and this came up from our dear friend Eric! http://planetwaves.net/pagetwo/astro-daily/sun-chiron-and-uranus-themes-of-father-and-freedom/. So describes where I’m at right now. Thanks Eric, and thanks CS for your question – which has helped me focus more deeply on the matter.
And Jude – I loved your post about gardening! It is one of the most glorious ways to live out and celebrate the first beginnings of spring. What a lovely idea, a medicine wheel. And your garden must love you.
Hmm. Good question CaraSusanetta. Well, I think that the original ‘wounded male’ in a woman’s life is her father – so a female’s wounded male revolves around issues with her father, and stuff that she is carrying from him, unconsciously living out his unresolved, dark and hidden stuff – and that includes how he feels about women! Then, our male side represents the yang, active side in us – who we are in the world, our job, etc. it’s also about realizing our creativity – and that’s the biggie for me. To be more specific and personal, I grew up in an extremely competitive environmet – with a successful father, who wanted his children to be as successful as him (without threatening his status), I ran away from all this, but took it with me, as one does. I didn’t pursue the successful career path that my siblings did, but had to really battle with this one. So when I meet men who have this same problem (feeling a sense of being unrealized in their careers or creativity) , it sets me off. Of course, this is my story – everone’s is different. But Jung was brilliant about all this. Search Jung: animus, anima.
Huffy, dear, thanks for your post. What does wounded male energy look like in a woman? Jude, gardening is such lovely therapy…Best to all my peeps at PW.
Zing and bubble! Excellent.
“Engaging any of the five senses will feel good and be centering; combining several senses in one experience is even better.”
There has been a palpable feeling of spring in the air for a month now, blooms where there shouldn’t be, robins rousting near-imaginary worms, yadda. Tomorrow it will be unseasonably warm — 70 — here, inviting another round of tornadic action … BUT … I am also being drawn to dig my hands in dirt, get a jump-start on recreating the garden. Venus in Taurus is the perfect gateway for the rich dense smell of the earth and the lushness of all her glorious potential. This year I’m going to erect a medicine wheel.
Five senses, indeed! Thanks for another excellent article, you’se guys!
Thank you, so much 🙂
In the spirit of anniversaries, to me these videos are Jimmy Fallon channeling Dionysus trine retrograding Saturn.

once again… a very fine writing. Thank you
Thank you, once again dear ones, for your precious daily blog. On reading these words “Judging yourself won’t get you anywhere productive, though one way you might know you’re doing that is if you’re angry at others (…)Noticing the tendency to judgment, anger or projection (should these arise) and taking time to follow it in to its roots could yield some useful information” – helped me so very much. A few days ago I was going on about how ‘wounded males’ were projecting their stuff onto me – well today I realized that I needed to see that it is I in fact who am projecting my wounded male side onto others. A painful, but very liberating realization.
