Liberty: this concludes our Election ’08 pre-coverage…

And now for the election itself. Once again I must thank our Planet Waves blogging team, headed by Rachel Asher, for their excellent coverage of the final month of the campaign, and thank you to the many readers and friends who have been keeping us up to date. I have been pushing our writers hard, making sure that we move as swiftly as we can with our news and astrology coverage. We are not done. The truly strange times begin today. Please let us know what is happening in your area. Send photos, stories and news links.

I’ve got a song to dedicate to our writing team, and to the devoted readers, some of whom date back to the ’90s and who come back five times a day to see what we’ve got going next. It’s called “Liberty,” originally by Hunter, rewritten by Garcia years later. Here is the recording, bootlegged from the Dead’s retrospective of live recordings called So Many Roads. Here are the lyrics, from the Annotated Grateful Dead site — a literary wonderland, check it out.

Say what I mean and I don’t give a damn
I do believe and I am who I am
Hey now Mama come and take my hand
Whole lotta shakin’ all over this land…
