In today’s subscriber issue of Planet Waves, Eric explores what’s clearly the signature event of Neptune’s ingress of Pisces: the police and military of the island nation of the Maldives have ousted their progressive, environmentally-conscious President in a coup this week. President Mohammed Nasheed — who once held a cabinet meeting underwater to call attention to the Maldives’ dire situation if ocean levels rise — has been a passionate activist on the issue of global warming. As Eric has suggested previously, Neptune in Pisces is bringing our oceans — and our dependence on them — into our consciousness.

Found this ‘travel’ piece in The National Geographic. Couldn’t find the date though.

BBC has had regular coverage of the Maldives this past week, if anyone is interested.
yeah —
it seems Democracy Now! is about as mainstream as the coverage is getting. technically they broadcast on tv as well as radio, but they’re no FOX or NBC or CNN, that’s for sure.
here are two links to their coverage from thursday — it’s how i learned of the story, listening to their broadcast as i worked.
this segment includes an interview with one of Nasheed’s administration:

this segment includes interviews with the director of the documentary “The Island President,” as well as Bill McKibben:

I have seen neither hide nor hair in most of the mainstream media. It comes up in google searches but I have seen nothing on TV. The guy is the modern Castro, supporting the communism of solar panels.
Mainstream media is too busy hammering home the whole business of Religion vs Government “story”. Neptune and Pisces don’t connect with religion, however they do represent emotion, disguises and illusion. Sort of a “let them eat cake” attitude from the information allowers. Not a wise decision.

Thank you, Eric. Excellent nose for a story. The comparison to the Chiron ingress to Pisces (corresponding to the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico) and the Uranus ingress to Aries (corresponding to the Sendai earthquake and its consequences) is very well taken in that there is going to be a long, fishy tail to what is going on in the Maldives, revelaling more and more as time goes on and the leakage continues.
For example, has anybody noticed how most of the mainstream media is either ignoring or burying or minimizing the situation in the Maldives? Is it on the front page of your local newspaper? Is it among the headlines in your Yay-who Newz? No! That is not an accident. It is relevant to you, it does mean something in your life, and that is precisely the reason you are receiving so little information. Ask yourself, who could possibly be restricting that information?
Eric, as usual, you are most definitely on to something interesting with the Maldivian President. This is from the UN newsletter I got in my email today. Cheers! Lane 🙂
UN officials seek to calm Maldives unrest:
A UN delegation has arrived in Maldives to encourage leaders to stabilize the political situation after the resignation of the country’s first democratically elected president, Mohamed Nasheed, who said he was forced to step down at gunpoint. The popular revolt over the arrest of a judge accused of being a puppet of the country’s former dictator, observers say, looks more like an old-fashioned coup.
the blackout horoscopes are interestingly simple, essentially found poetry, twitter style. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Found_poetry
We all live in a watershed.
Another watershed event.

Thanks dearest Eric, for this fascinating, sobering piece; for the usual splendiferous horoscopes, and last but not least, for introducing me to Austin Kleon. xxx
