Coming Together – Sun Enters Sagittarius

Sun enters Sagittarius on Tuesday, shortly after 11 am EST. The ingress will extend and build on a pattern that started with the Libra equinox. That trend is a coming together, precipitating an unconventional awareness of connection. The sky has witnessed Sol constantly in common juncture with an uncommon aggregate of other objects as it passed first through Libra, then Scorpio. In our lives we have seen people assemble as if in harmony with the heavens, dwelling together in possibility, awakening to potential. As the solar archetype of consciousness assumes the countenance of mutable fire, the season will reach a challenging climax that will forge a new field of opportunity.

The outcome is not ordained, but, one way or another you will have a role in its determination, depending on how you direct own vital flame. In the sign of Sagittarius, the element of fire reaches maturity. A spontaneous conflagration initiates clearance but consumes that which sustains it. An intentional flame provides a circle of illumination and warmth that asserts itself into the world for a time but leaves only ash. In containment and cultivation, fire transcends its own existence by facilitating transformations that endure long after the heat has subsided. Thus the metamorphic meme of Scorpio is extended to manifest something we can carry into a new season.

The mutable quality of Sagittarius puts us on notice that a new season is indeed coming. It is a challenge to adjust to, then release, a paradigm of being in the world. It is that very protocol, however that nourishes and tempers our adaptability. It helps to see the process as a long cycle that can climb even as it turns. Unlike the repetitive, which is given by Earth’s motion, the elevation must be attained. The means of that accomplishment lie in what we conserve from one phase to build on in the next. That entails sorting and selection. What the Sun encounters in Sagittarius will in some way parallel the opportunities that will present themselves to each of us. The most salient awareness will be of what works for all of us.

The weeks following the Aries equinox saw planets come together in that sign even as people came together in the East, united by a common need. Some called it the Arab Spring. After the Sun changed direction at the Cancer Solstice, the same scenario developed and expressed itself in the West with the Libra equinox. Now, as the solar sensibility prepares to enter the final fire of transition, we have some perspective to bring with it. Whether you have participated in, resisted or simply observed the great coming together that has swept the globe even as Sol swept through the zodiac, it has undeniably happened. That gives rise to a question. What will we do with what we have been present to? That’s where you come in. You can choose.

You can choose to continue as you always have, unchanged by what has happened. In that case you will be donating your energy to sustain a paradigm that clearly cannot or will not return in kind. Alternatively, you can opt to do nothing, relegating your life force to reaction with only the cause of survival. Finally, you may elect to do what will probably be most difficult and frightening, making an effort to elevate the coming together that we have already seen to a new level of expression.

Before the Sun heads North again, it will travel the length of Sagittarius and find relationship with a great many energies. Each one of those encounters will echo in your daily life. You will be able to interpret those experiences holistically through a common background, the legacy of fire and a new season on the way. If you can hold on to those two concepts as you witness your daily choices and decisions a pattern will develop. That pattern will let you know where the coming together is for you.

This quote and your last two paragraphs take my breath away and assist my intuitive progress following Vesta-the goddess only seen in the flame.
    Thank you

  2. Thank you Len for this powerful call for us to become REAL and authentic.

This piece touches me so personally… I was born at the very last moments of Sun in Scorpio just at dawn, so I have Sagittarius rising. With a packed 12th house yet a powerful ascendant, I have always been trying to understand the bridge between the deep, deep inner-worlds that are held by the Scorpio frequencies (the collective, the dreams and the ancestors for starters) and the outer-world fire held by the Sagittarian aspirations that for me, rise out of those Scorpio depths. Every time I looked to astrology to help bridge that gap, the writings, readings and teachers never seemed to be able to bring these two streams together in a way that felt Soulfully accurate to me.

Until I read this today… and had tears rolling down my cheeks in gratitude. You’ve got it exactly…(at least, how it feels to me) the way these two streams of water and fire feed and nourish one another. To take the Auroborus of Fire and bring it home, the way you do in your description of what Sagittarius does, when it is allowed to work at its highest calling, breathes transformative energies into this archetype, and that serves us all. Thank you so much…so very mush for this.

Much is made here in Planet Waves about working with the Centaurs, and I love how much I’ve gotten to know about myself, and the collective from understanding these new, primal energies. What I notice also is that the biggest Mystery and source of power that we know of (the Great Attractor) actually lives in the HEART of the FIRST Centaur we all were introduced to whenever we first learned about the Stars… Sagittarius. The fact that this sign IS a Centaur means to me that there is an intimate but perhaps as yet not understood connection between this sign, the object (GA), the other Centaurs and these times we are now living in. Your article finally brings these all together energetically in a way that is at once humbling and inspirational. This article raises the temperature in the room, the call in our hearts and the fire in our bellies…at least it does so for me! 🙂

Thank you from the bottom of my very happy 12th house and completely ecstatic Centaurian Ascendant !

  3. Thank you Len for giving us, among other things, a perfect example of a positive expression of Sagittarius. The Big Picture is essential in these times, what with King Neptune holding sway. And with Mars in Virgo’s judicious pruning of details, he helps focus that picture in your offering today. Of course, that is supplied by and through the processing of your beautiful mind which sees not just the symbols, but the message their combined pattern implies. I like to think too that transiting Jupiter (ruler of Sag) in Taurus (pruning) still trine Virgo (detail) Mars (cut) was a contributing factor.

Hey, you know what ‘they’ say about Sag. . . . open mouth and insert foot? Well, to balance and make whole the concept of that sign, this not-uncommon trait has often been my misfortune, what with 1st house Jupiter and Sag MH, but as “luck” would have it, even this negative expression of Sagittarius will usually escape utter condemnation; just ask VP Biden!
