In hot pursuit: the weekend astrology

Today is Friday, Sept. 16, 2011. The Moon is in Taurus all day today and tomorrow, before moving to Gemini at 4:05 am EDT on Sunday. The Moon is said to be exalted in Taurus and this means that you could feel relatively comfortable emotionally — safe, secure, nurtured and with a solid sense of self worth.

Visually, the most notable thing about the Moon this weekend is that she will be with the planet Jupiter and the stars of the Pleiades. This conjunction is easily visible if skies are clear. The bright star near the Moon is a nearby planet 1,200 times the size of Earth. Jupiter (or Zeus, in Greek mythology) had sex with just about anyone he wanted. He was always on the move trying to seduce someone.

The Moon is also near a constellation, the Pleiades. In mythology, the Pleiades were nymphs who served as the attendants of Artemis (or Diana, Goddess of the Moon). They were doggedly pursued by Orion, the great hunter, after he fell in love with their beauty and grace. Artemis asked Zeus to protect the Pleiades and in turn, Zeus turned them into stars. Zeus or Jupiter himself had quite a reputation as a pursuer, using all kinds of tricks such as turning himself into a swan in order to win the objects of his affection. So the Moon is moving past both a planet and a group of stars this weekend that highlight the theme of amorous pursuit.

With both the Sun and Mars nearing their changing of signs, and so crossing into new territory, the tension within our masculine/active drive is palpable. Mars moves into fiery Leo Sunday evening, reviving the passion and heat of summer, at least metaphorically (it’s starting to get chilly in many parts of the Northern Hemisphere). The Sun is also nearing the end of Virgo, before the change of seasons. Planets near the end of signs often become more intense, as if there is a mission to complete before they can move on. Like the Buford T. Justice character in the film Smokey and the Bandit, the Sun and Mars could find us “in hot pursuit” and fixated on something.

Venus, on the other hand, has good reason to be skeptical of these pursuers. She has just entered her own sign of Libra. So, on the Monopoly board of the zodiac, anyone landing in her space owes her. If you want to keep the attention of this lady, you will have to be sure not to order your meal like Sheriff Buford did: “Give me a diablo sandwich, a Dr. Pepper, and make it quick, I’m in a goddam hurry.”

Actually Venus has bigger things on her mind than just lunch. There’s a couple other cats hounding her who don’t exactly follow the rules of politeness. Venus is aligning with Uranus and Pluto, who are trying to start a revolution. Clearly they are trying to recruit her, and she’s interested. Venus is more rebellious than most astrologers recognize, and she envies those who are willing to stir the pot (that would be Uranus, to name one). So there could be a meeting here, but you have to see what develops.

There are also other aspects that are pulling the emotional attribute of Venus out of her usual depth (for example, Venus square Pluto and Icarus). So before Venus gets her official ‘get out of the Underworld free’ card, passes Go and collects her 200 bucks, she’s got to deal with these revolutionaries and deep dark influences. (Eric describes this aspect structure in detail at the beginning of his podcast yesterday.) So, if Venus tells you that your idea for a date this weekend is not germane to her principal concerns, don’t take it personally.

If you are getting the sense that I’m telling you to cool it a bit and try not get too awful worked up just yet, that’s basically the idea. But you still don’t need to take it quite as far as the good sheriff. “Don’t go home, and don’t go to eat, and don’t play with yourself. It wouldn’t look nice on my highway. Now, you can THINK about it… but don’t do it!”

Of course, with all this energy (especially sexual energy) flying around, you just might find yourself doing something that you’re not expecting. Just make sure you use your head. Don’t try too much more when you’re tipsy than you would do when you’re totally sober; alcohol may boost your confidence, just be cool.

  1. For such a sexy weekend I post my latest and sexiest poem ever!!

    September Loves

    Fresh from our
    bed
    I can’t sleep
    head buzzing with
    ideas, worries
    memories
    of pleasure we just took
    in each other your kindness
    accepting me tending my
    changed body
    changing
    needs
    that g spot
    we finally found learned
    to use lovely
    wiring there
    thank you

    our rhythm is
    different
    now but
    still
    good
    you feel
    the same to me

    2:30am
    I keep lights low look
    out window see
    other
    lovers
    across the street
    in the park, young,

    younger
    than us
    shadows
    beautiful they
    are drawn together
    heads tilting
    kissing,
    moving apart
    kissing again in
    dance
    beautiful,

    light
    falls
    behind them
    they are shadows

he wears his baseball cap backwards
    she sways, bends, turns
    before him an
    open flower
    her skirt
    pushed by breeze

    they are drinking
    from bottles

    I watch
    shamelessly
    admiring
    their silhouettes

    dark against park lamps
dark against fall of water on
    concrete behind them

    water shining
    through
    light
    rhythmic fall of
    water
    from sprinkler
    over-shooting its mark

    splattering on
    concrete

    he does not overshoot

    they move together, apart
    she bends, sways
    turns
    kneels before him
    at park bench

    bends

    quickly sits beside
    him in
    darkness
    someone walks through
    light, someone
    not lucky enough
    to see them
    as I do

    their beauty
    her grace
    his protective passion

    they begin again
    stop again
    when
    car’s
    headlights
    light them up momentarily they

    begin again
    moving, bracing
    bending, swaying, turning

    finishing

he places the condom in the trash
she puts their bottles in the trash
    they walk away
    together.

  2. Thanks, folks for the space to air this out. The headline was just too much after last nights outburst.

I lost it. Or nearly so… one is still alive, so that a testimony to my self-discipline. Pluto snapping forward in my solar 7th? Check. Mars in the anarectic degrees of Kallinectes — and sitting on my natal Mars/Uranus conjunction. Double… no make that triple check.

And many, many thanks to Liminali, who sat with me for the blazing hour last night while I brought all of those horses back to the barn. Thank goddess I live in another city.

Strangely, the energy is still running joyfully in other areas. Still… when I slip on the Plutonian glasses I can see all kinds of beautiful mayhem.

    Mote it be.

    M

    AQUARIUS – Monthly
Recent weeks and months have been a profound time of self-discovery, and I’m sure you’ve been doing more sexual experimentation than you usually do; unless you are feeling injured and keeping to yourself. What you are learning about now is the relationship between being hurt and being powerful. These two concepts need to be in a dialog, informing one another of their respective truths. Most people refuse to be conscious of both their pain and their power. If you can be aware of both, you will heal a long struggle and begin to find your inner voice with greater strength and clarity.

One pisces’ weather and astrology today. Seems to be in the same sort of area’ish as today and this weekend’s planetwaves?

  4. “Of course, with all this energy (especially sexual energy) flying around, you just might find yourself doing something that you’re not expecting.”

    Yeah.

Does that include tailing my X last night when he drove off with my son? I so did. . . for about 30 minutes while they whipped around town, trying to shake me off. He pulled over and got out at one point, and grinning like the hyena he is, said: “Would you like a piece of gum?” “You’re no Ken Kesey,” I observed, “send my son home.”

A year of lawyers, therapy, bribery, more therapy, appeasing, cooking, waiting, conferences, more lawyers, more waiting and now I find my rage is not staying in goddamn box where I have tried so womanfully to contain it.

Tailing him was the only way I could convince myself not to go out and buy Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.

One dead kid, one living with a hyena-vampire. Fabulous.

Oooooh…..already feeling that and will keep your advice in mind. ::::lustful grin::::
