Rondout Creek after Hurricane Irene, as it passes through High Falls, NY in Ulster County. Photo by Eric.
Flood waters swept away this fairly large propane tank that broke free from somewnere, which was blowing off pressure as it was carried downstream toward a waterfall. It didn't seem to explode when it hit the bottom -- if it did, it was a quiet kind of explosion.Photo by Eric. For some sense of scale, here are people in front of the waterfall on the Rondout as it passes through High Falls, NY. This is not the waterfall for which the town is named. Photo by Eric.Same falls, from about 100 yards away, photographed from a bridge (along Route 213). Photo by Eric.

thanks for that link Lokta, looks like my beloved VT is going to get hammered >: (
mm. speaking of the boy/girl naming of hurricanes,
looks like Jose is now cooking E of Florida
around where Irene started her journey…
I bet it smells really great….
It’s a little after 8:00pm up here in Southwest Nova Scotia and the winds are picking up quickly. Apparently we will not have the rain as earlier expected. Temp is 23, feeling like 34, and the humidity is 90%…a tad bit too sticky for moi….
