LONDON ā Rupert Murdoch’s media empire was besieged Monday by accusations that two more of his British newspapers engaged in privacy violations that included accessing former Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s bank account information and stealing the medical records of his seriously ill baby son.
If proven true, the charges by rival newspapers seem certain to dramatically increase the pressure on Murdoch’s News Corp. from a scandal that seems to grow wider and deeper by the hour.
The public outrage began a week ago over wrongdoing at the Murdoch-owned best-selling tabloid News of the World. It has since disrupted the media titan’s plans to take over highly profitable satellite broadcaster British Sky Broadcasting and slashed billions off the value of his global conglomerate, News Corp.
Haven’t you been saying for months and months Eric, that the changes we’re going to see under the current (and coming) astrology are going to make the 60s look like a “walk in the park”? Well, here they are, and they do. (Timber…)
Every time John Boehner blathers out “the American people won’t stand for… [usually some form of taxing ‘job creators’] I want to sock him on the jaw. It is an utter lie. He means, “those asshole teabaggers” or “that dude who writes those big checks to my campaign…” but “the American people” get blamed.
“The public outrage began a week ago”

I pick up on this clause because it feels like it has been excised from elsewhere – a redactive observation. It also reflects the wider problem of slogans and headlines ‘making’ news without substance. I imagine it crept in unnoticed! (as a port from a different media source.) Now looking at the Give Me Space article above and Moon-Great Attractor-Pholus conjunction; t’is a few hours off exact but it is topical! Both to myself noticing/feeling the energy of that clause but also its impact when used in general terms as a stock device in the media disseminations we often experience but fail to notice – indeed, it is part of the reason we got to this place. Sensationalism sells because it feeds the ‘them and us’ unconsciousness inhabiting most folk in their self dis-ease.
I feel it salutary and interesting that it crept in here as a blindside from a port and wasn’t redacted out – [maybe so I could comment? ;)]
For a start, there is no such thing as ‘the public’ – a media (read “gutter press”) myth used to create a false sense of a growing movement/demographic of unified/unifying opinions. Moreover, usually we get the understated phrase ‘public opinion’ (which could only be coherent predicated upon quantitative research) – but here we have more relish added ‘public OUTRAGE’.. OMG the ‘public’ are outraged, I tell you… Well, I suppose I’d best be outraged also…
Outrageous… š
Maybe Mr Murdoch requested Ms Brooks to do this to Brown – simple as that
Here’s a YouTube of Hugh Grant’s interview on Sky News where Grant says David Cameron is in bed with Rupert Murdoch:

GG:
The first thought that came to my mind was that Brooks knows more that would be damaging to Murdoch than just the goings on at News of the World. This could be a move to hush up the witness.
It’s interesting. I don’t really understand why Murdoch stood by Rebekah Brooks while he fired all those people at News of the World who had nothing to do with the misdeeds.
Rebekah Brooks should have been fired, without question, or a very good reason for not firing her should have been offered. She was in charge while payments to cops were made and while the Gordon Brown info was illegally obtained.
By not firing her, Murdoch has left himself open to these shareholder lawsuits that are starting up against him. The MSNBC story says the institutional investors who are bringing the suit own only about 1% of the stock — but look what trouble they’re making for Murdoch.
He’ll spend millions in atty fees just to defend himself in the suit, and if loses, there will be huge damages to pay.
Surely Murdoch’s advisors would have told him this. There must be something more going on here than meets the eye.
