Good morning! Today’s edition of Planet Waves FM features an interview with James Wanless, the creator of the Voyager Tarot deck. He has just come out with the Sustain Yourself deck and book, which he’s been working on for 20 years. The new deck, consisting of 101 cards, should be in bookstores any day now — in this interview you’ll hear what went into its creation. Our musical guest this week is Warpold Wine, featuring compositions of Andrew Lipow. I met (and photographed) Andrew and his band in the parking lot of the Phish concerts at Bethel Woods last month.

  1. I Love the idea and reality of a Sustainability Tarot deck! Awesome! Thank you. Very interesting podcast. Loved to learn about the thought processes and “mechanics” of the creation of a Tarot deck. Synchronicity, intuition, guiding thoughts and original goal, and lots of time and creativity and help from Ken. Thanks as always for your relentless curiosity, Eric. PS I don’t use itunes.

  2. It’s always struck me that most people who commit murder or suicide are people who have lost their awareness of the full range of their options. One way I check in with my well-being when I am distressed is to ask, “Do I have everything I need in this moment to sustain life?” Then I ask myself, “Is there anything I can do about my distress in this moment or to change the situation?” If there is not, I ask that creation helps me notice what, when, where, why, and how I can make a positive difference. Then I ask myself, What can I do to make myself feel better, now, in this moment?” Prayer, meditation, talking to a loving friend, writing a poem, taking a bath, cleaning the kitchen, petting my dogs and cats, playing with a child, writing a poem, writing a letter for my God box, etc. Not that this doesn’t sometimes take a bit of a psychic beating to get to, however.

  3. While we work on this would other users please let us know if they are having a similar result? We are having difficulty reproducing the error you’re getting, She Bear

    Thank you

  4. Thanks Eric, though I’m still having some difficulty for some reason. I have in the past subscribed to the PW podcast and it should be uploading the new episode every time I go into iTunes, but it’s not doing that for some reason?

I just went back into itunes and yes the chronological order is back in place now instead of the hodge podge arrangement from earlier (?) but I’m still not getting the latest version 6/7/11
